When I was growing up Pat Benatar reined as the queen of rock, and for good reason. I saw her once in concert ... and holy hell her voice is incredible. When you get to reacting to "Promises In the Dark" ... and that is the one song you should do .... there are2 versions that I think is wow. The first is the official version (link here: th-cam.com/video/7qUFZwJb9GA/w-d-xo.html ) ... but in 2021 Pat and her husband, Neil Giraldo who is the guitarist in her band, did a concert. Decades have gone by, and while she has lost a little, she's still got it. And so does her husband. The first 2 minutes is her talking, but its cute as she banters with the crowd. Then she goes into "Promises In the Dark". ... its a good contrast to what her younger versions did. Both are awesome. The link for the 2021 version is here: th-cam.com/video/IGt-OgxfqcM/w-d-xo.html

Just saw Pat Oct 25th, 2021 in Houston .... SHE STILL KILLS IT! Also, she married the "Heartbreaker" Neil, her guitar player... been married for almost 40 years!

Your summation of the chorus is the best summation I've ever heard of the chorus and I was a professional music journalist. Good job guys!!!

Pat Benatar is the foundation for my appreciation of the female voice in rock music. Band Maid carries on the tradition.

One of my favorite concerts was Pat Benatar opening for Styx at Mud Island in Memphis in 1994

Pat Benetar's fashion sense pretty much took over my jr/sr high school for a period. Alsmost all the ladies had her hair, headband and leg warmers, lol.

I sing this song. Did a competition and when I did the highest note, my voice shut down the sound system. I got a standing ovation and I won! Good times!

Back then, it was so innovative and she was so bad ass, a real pioneer of female rock singers, a pretty girl with a mighty voice. Love it still.
