When I summitted Mount Kinabalu, the weather didn't allow me to go for the Via Ferrata and I was bummed! In hindsight it might've been better because I got to enjoy the sunrise at the peak instead! Mount Kinabalu is my first ever summit and its special!
Very nicely and professionally produced. Great cinematography, narration and video footage. Brings back so many happy memories of my climb in Sep 2022. We had pretty bad weather though. Luckily for you the weather was good at the summit.

Summiting Mount Kinabalu is really one of most magical moments in my life. An advice to future hikers, please pack enough snacks while hiking and also fill up your stomach the night before and during breakfast. We didn't know everything in Kundasang closes at 5pm. By the time we reach, not only we barely have dinner the night before, we didn't have food for breakfast as well. Climbing up with empty stomach is definitely not ideal. Having said that, would like to point out also that Kinabalu is really not that hard. The path is well paved for hikers, plenty of toilets and checkpoints on the way. All you need to do is just climb those stairs and occasionally rocks. Would definitely love to go again!
Hi there! I love mountains and I'm interested to hike Kinabalu one day. However I do have a fear of heights :( Was there any part of the Ranau Trail which involved steep slopes to overcome, or paths which involved walking right on the face of a cliff?
@@incognito.alocasia I have a fear of heights as well but surprisingly I don't have that feeling while hiking or even summitting Mount KK! We even did Ferrata trail but I guess because I can't see the bottom of the hill (it's all clouds) that's why I don't feel the fear of falling. 🤭
@@genevia Wow ferrata! That is something definitely out of the question for me 😂 However it's good to know that the trails didn't trigger your fear of heights, thank you for sharing 😊
could you please share the list of items you had to prepare? ie. shoes, headlamp etc. And what shoe brand did you use? I wish to buy one similar. thank you and SUPER GREAT video, hoping to climb next year.
@@marcvinayrozario1113 hi thanks !! , Well what u listed out is a must, u may consider good quality grip hiking shoes like soloman , and northface which I m using and etc. Wind breaker , jacket, heat tac is also important to keep u warm, it could reach under 0 degree if the weather is bad, 5-10 degree in normal days I suggest u get some advice on what to bring with ur guide also.. Anyway all the best preparing for the hike !😁👍

Thanks for documenting this climb. What kind of training before the climb is required and for how long before the climb?
I recommend training 3 months before the climb , need to get comfortable to carry around 6kg and hike for 6 hours then u shud be good to go.
