I feel I have to peel through the drama and concentrate so hard to follow the what she is saying. It is obvious she is a great entertainer. Great Job!!!
Wow Amazing ... I have no hopes of coming anywhere near this but it was inspiring to watch as I prep for my own icebreaker. Also nice to see a woman speaker this drop dead funny when humorous speaking is usually dominated by men. Thanks Lynn.
I feel the same way. She's hilarious, but I'm confused about the message. Maybe the value is in the laughter. For someone who's had a crazy week, she'd be just what the Dr. ordered.
As a former Canadian Toastmaster: This lady's Icebreaker shows a lot of skill most doing icebreakers would not have, so congratultaions to her. However: If you only have 1 hour for a meeting, and that is in the middle of a lot of intensive other learning, Unfortunately I see no way your members can profit anywhere near what shou;ld be in a Toastmasters' club. from the club perspective this reminds me of the lament I heard one year in a TLI in Montreal, in a session relatet to the VP's of Membership. That lady was the V.P. of membership in a corporate club of a large corporation. They, also were being expected to have their meetings in a 1 hour lunch break when they were trying to eat their lunches and settle dwon from the many stresses and pressures of their jobs. However, there is nothing stopping any Toastmaster from joining one or more additional non-corporate clubs, in addition to their participation in their employers' club(s). In that way, they are likely to get much more out of their toastmasters' experiences, albeit with the need to put in more time effort and resources. But isn't that what we hear is the"name of the game" in Toastmasters anyway? In 4 years and 4 clubs, I put in and I reaped, but in all fairness I was one hot potato! so it could not go on forever. However, after 4 clubs, earning a C.C., and speaking in Englash, French and a bit in Spanish, I did get out, but what i got out, ironically was what I really needed most, even though iut had to be exorcised so often in spite of those who knew but were less than forthright and candid in dealing with the matter. The lack of candour, also was not an all or nothing. After I had left, in the "post mortem" I counted that about 50% of those I had known from club presidents up would support me privately but could not stand the frey openly or publicly. Below that level there were no true supporters, only a few who migh feign support in the hidden objective of trying to bring acceptance of a situation of non-openness into play, efforts which no-0ne has ever done with me. I could go on here, but the points are several: 1) I would suggest to clubs the idea of having prospective members do their icebreaker before the invocation, thus giving the existing members a much better idea of the person they are about to open their club to. The awareness alone of this idea should make all well aware of the need to avoid hasty voting on new members, another point that I learned from one of the many TLI's I also attended. 2) In respect of any prospective returning toastmaster that may appear: I would propose a new category of speech: "The Advanced Icebreaker". The objectives of this are somewhat similar to the foregoing. In addition to the basic icebreaker, such candidates should be in a position to provide strong insight to the members as to what their experience can additionally offer the club for which their candidature has been proferred. This will require notable more speaking time than 4 to 6 minutes. Just how much will depend on several factors, candidate by candidate, club by club. 2b) How much overall life experience does this candidate have from which benefits may arise? Consider the candidate's chronological age initially, but when the speech is done, consider his/her intellectual and emotional age. Consider his/her true outlook on life, but not necessarily be that image so proferred taken as absolute truth! does it concorde with the wisdom of the > (AKA the experience of what he/she has lived? If one had heard me use that French word, without needing to know one word of French, they readily would have noticed that there was MORE than the mere word. so after a poignant pause, I would translate. 3) Some clubs like to be casual, but prospective Toastmaster, think, caveat emtor applies to your time, what you might ascribe to and so much more of "life's stuff". How doea the potential of learning for any given club, each for each, measure up to what you might like to get from the experience? Be your speech of all candour, that there be no false or unrealistic expectations on any side thereafter. "This above all, to thine own self be true..." Even of that very candour resolves that you and the club for which candidature has been raised does not fit. it may also evoke some suggestions from those present as to something of which they may be more cognisant beyond.
Hey guys, I'm in Nigeria and at my club, Sterling's Toastmasters club I'm giving my Ice breaker speech this Saturday (6th August, 2016) and Boy am I nervous!Any help please. I need to get this right.I need to kick some asses mean! Lol
i joined TM to be able to speak more thoroughly and be more professional and give well organized and thoughtful presentations. i understand to make it entertaining you'd want a few jokes thrown in, but i'm confused about the whole leadership/professionalism of giving a good speech etc. when standup comedy seems to dominate the crowd's attention. i guess it depends on personal goals?
That's not an icebreaker... That's THE ICEBREAKER!!
Outstanding!!!!
Well done. That standing O is well deserved. Great pacing and presence makes for a captivating performance.
Wow!!! ....and she gets a standing ovation 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love your outfit and the beginning of your video. Nothing like 'breaking the ice' to open up an icebreaker speech!
I feel I have to peel through the drama and concentrate so hard to follow the what she is saying. It is obvious she is a great entertainer. Great Job!!!
I'm getting ready to do my first icebreaker speech and just watched yours- I loved it! 😂

Very funny! Great first speech!
This woman is a superstar. I was thoroughly engaged with the entire presentation. She is clearly skilled. I"m not sure why she is in the program.
She is hilarious!!!! She needs to be a comedian!!!
I'm borrowing the idea of literally breaking ice when conducting future icebreakers or new people in general lol! Good stuff!

Wow Amazing ... I have no hopes of coming anywhere near this but it was inspiring to watch as I prep for my own icebreaker. Also nice to see a woman speaker this drop dead funny when humorous speaking is usually dominated by men. Thanks Lynn.

shes a great comedian even though I had no idea what shes talking about
I feel the same way. She's hilarious, but I'm confused about the message. Maybe the value is in the laughter. For someone who's had a crazy week, she'd be just what the Dr. ordered.
Wonder how she speak formally?
I wish I can make my speech this funny

Panda Express? My family eats food from there all the time. My favorite is Chow-Mein.
Funny! She must be inspired by Melissa McCarthy
Fun!!

how did it go?
Looks like a Kristin Wiig character.
She sound like a veteran speaker.
Ice Breaker speech is a 4-6 minutes speech, her speech took 7 minutes 35 seconds, way OVERTIME !!!!

weirdest video artifacts ever, obviously funny too
She is good, but overconfident and this kind of speech doesn't impress many!
Anyway it's a good one!
It's a parody! She's a character spoofing Icebreaker speeches. She's supposed to be overly impressed with her lame life:)
I like this, but I wish Toastmasters had more of an emphasis on giving a legitimate speech rather than character monologues.
why she point figers at random people.... kinda bad body language
It seems she is trying too hard to be funny
This women is trying way to hard to be funny, I found in uncomfterable
Amazing!
