Useful review thanks. (For transparency you should mention at the beginning you have been given the unit to review to avoid any accusations of this being a shill video).
Simplicity always wins! - great review thanks. Just lost my IGPSport 630 coming down a decent at L'etape Ireland, so got this one. Although it was rather refreshing not having stats to pour over on the ride. Just me and the PAIN! lol
I have the IGPSPORT200. It's first rate. Navigation, b&w, programmable screens. It is the same as my Garmin ...for £40. So, I am not stressed about losing it.
Been using the BCS100 base model from Igpsport for nearly a year now. It's basic, but gives me all i need. But seriously, it can be bought for less than 20 quid. Fabulous value....
Thanks for the review, Max! Some questions, if I may: ~ Do you miss the Climb function of the Garmin (I think the 630 has it though)? ~ If you're on a pure data screen, will Nav pop up approaching a turn or diversion? ~ How many screens can you have, and can you have them auto scroll like Garmin? ~ I assume to get the ride onto Garmin Connect, you have to drop a GPX file via a computer? I have a Garmin 130 Plus for everyday, but looking for something when exploring rather than a bread-crumb trail. Cheers!
Hey Phil- -I havent missed the climb function in the UK but yes, out in Mallorca i did think it would have been nice. The 630 has iClimb which is their version of Climb Pro. - Yes, turn by turn nav will feature on any screen. I think i tried to explain that this wasnt coming up when it thought the route had ended. You;ll get a turn warning on any page if you are using Nav. - I think its 8 pages. I didnt know about autoscroll on the garmin, but as far as i know there is no autoscroll or its certainly not an option ive seen come up at any point. - IGPSport links straight up to Strava but this means that it by-passes Garmin Connect. They also do not connect up to Training Peakes so i have to drop the GPX file into there as well. Which is a bit of a pain. They also link up to the rear light for a radar which shows on your computer screen which gives you more road awareness but this isnt something ive used.
@thewattlife Thanks for taking the time to reply! At the price point, it looks like a great piece of kit! I'll take a look at the 630 and see which would suit me better 👍🏻 Keep up the good content 😉
You did an excellent job with the review. Answered the questions I had. Yes, The bike computers are over rated to function where the focus is on super training and flashy modes to impress your buddies. Most of these riders seem to be caught up in the gadgetry and less focused on the riding. I just want a small unit for touring that will give me good navigation, speed, mileage and when to make the turns. It's a companion to my cell phone, especially when wiifii disappears,{ not meant to replace the cell phone) I will still have a map. I have been looking at all the gps units believe this igs300 will fill the bill. They have the 630's and now the igs800 but just a lot more bells and whistles I don't need t a much higher cost. Thanks for the great video. M
Thank you. From experience the only thing missing is iClimb (Climb pro on Garmin) where you get a more detailed climbing screen. Put it this was- I have a £550 Garmin 1040 Edge and I haven’t touched it since getting the BSC300
@@thewattlife , Well I don't need the climbing mode. Climbing on an off the bike is sufficient for my need and don't want to know my heart rate. If that peaks I won't be alive to read it! Touring is for me, simplification, ridding yourself of things not needed and enjoying the people and country side at a pace to take it all in. Thanks again for the video and the reply. Stay health and safe. Hopefully I will crawl of of the mountains here in Thailand and get to France this fall for a long need, long tour.
Yeah- i don’t rely on Garmin connect too much, as I pull all my data to strava and TP. My Garmin is great but it’s the 1040edge, so when I’m popping out for an hour or eventually doing a road race for an hour or two, I just want clean, simple and small.
It keep beeping until you turn around and go on the planned route. It will not find an alternative route in the event of road closure;as I believe a Garmin would. It is a great value unit for the money. Hope this helps👍
The apps it links to are Strava, TrainingPeaks and Komoot. Guess you could upload the activity files from the BCS300 to your Garmin account if you wanted to.
IGPSport has a radar but unfortunately i dont have the unit. They do connect to one another and you get a visual display on screen but i cannot personally confirm on the audio warning
Sorry I should have said it uses a standard Garmin mount. So I’ve been able to switch between my two computers. Was that what you meant? There is also a slightly better version which has iclimb but it’s over twice the price
I think there’s a lot of good bike computers out there. But this one is cheap- someone has said you can find them for under £40. So was keen to see what you get for the money
Useful review thanks. (For transparency you should mention at the beginning you have been given the unit to review to avoid any accusations of this being a shill video).
Its also required by law to disclose that you've been given one to review in quite a few countries.
Hi Max, thanks for this review. I pulled the trigger on this a couple of months ago and what a find. Many thanks and HNY 👌
Pleasure man- it’s my go to unit. I use the big one for longer rides and the small one for racing and quick blasts out.
Have an older igpsport50e model. 5 years use. Battery still holds perfectly. Amazing unit for the price.
Great for the price. Literally just home from using mine.
Need to get the rear radar light to see how it works with the 300 unit

A bonus is it works with the Garmin mounts I already have.
Good little piece of kit

If you can get them for that price it’s a no brainer
Thanks, helpful for newbie’s like me
I've got the same unit and I love it. I would say that set up and map input are not intuitive. It's taken me some frustrating hours to get used to it.
I make all my maps using different apps then import them. Which is a lot easier
Thanks for the review, Max!

Annoyingly- like everything, it’s very easy to upsell yourself!!!

I recently got a Garmin 830 but this seems like a good option if my Garmin breaks down... Although I do like Garmin Connect.
Yeah- i don’t rely on Garmin connect too much, as I pull all my data to strava and TP.
My Garmin is great but it’s the 1040edge, so when I’m popping out for an hour or eventually doing a road race for an hour or two, I just want clean, simple and small.
How would you compare this to the Magene C606? I'm looking to get a new GPS computer as my old Garmin 820 is not keeping up anymore.
I haven’t had the chance to use a Magene just yet but hopefully soon
Thank you sir. I wonder what will happen if you go off the route?
It will redirect you- I haven’t tested the effectiveness of this extensively but it does try to direct you
It keep beeping until you turn around and go on the planned route. It will not find an alternative route in the event of road closure;as I believe a Garmin would. It is a great value unit for the money. Hope this helps👍
FYI it does have navigate to start
Good to know - haven’t figured out how to use that yet! 🤣
Is there any part of the company that I can buy to measure the watts? I haven’t pedals to count watts
@ΆγγελοςΠλιάτσικας-ζ2ρ No, at the moment IGPSport do not make a power meter. Magene make some paower meters- spider based ones.
Thank you
Can it connect to my Garmin account?
The apps it links to are Strava, TrainingPeaks and Komoot. Guess you could upload the activity files from the BCS300 to your Garmin account if you wanted to.
Does this have a summit freeride feature telling about climbs ahead?
This one doesn’t have iClimb. But the 630 does. IClimb is basically IGPSports version of Climb Pro.
It’s the one thing I was probably missing
@@thewattlife Thanks for helping me avoid that banana skin!
Does it connect to a radar and give you an audio signal if cars approach?
IGPSport has a radar but unfortunately i dont have the unit. They do connect to one another and you get a visual display on screen but i cannot personally confirm on the audio warning
@@thewattlifeany radar will do....
Sounds a good piece of kit. Do you know if fits integrated aerobars?
Sorry I should have said it uses a standard Garmin mount. So I’ve been able to switch between my two computers.
Was that what you meant?
There is also a slightly better version which has iclimb but it’s over twice the price
@@thewattlife Thanks, that was what I meant. Can just use my garmin mount.
How its works with mtb trails and roads?
I haven’t tried it on mountain bikes- so far I’m the road it’s been really great. I have a gravel event coming up soon though
Wahoo Bolt v2 - 67 grams. Surely that would meet your needs and with a more mature ecosystem?
I think there’s a lot of good bike computers out there. But this one is cheap- someone has said you can find them for under £40. So was keen to see what you get for the money
Seems very complicated to me. Talking of how easy it is...I need 1...One feature...navigation
I think I will invest 😊
Max, I won one of the helmets you were selling on eBay, all received and I really like it. Thanks for sending it so quickly. 🚵
Good news- glad it’s gone to a good home. Hopefully get a lot of use of it now it’s a bit more sunny
