Thank you for these informative and clear videos :) do you have any advice on how to ask for testimonials from clients ? Is there any etiquette involved ?
Thank you for watching 😊 that is a great question- I will make a video about it to help you! For now, my general advice is to say how much you enjoyed working together and if they could kindly give you some feedback that you can add to your portfolio or website or linkedin to support your future business 😊 Always ask at the very end after you have been paid...otherwise it can be awkward to ask with an outstanding invoice. Best wishes, Virginia x
I'm not sure how I'd write my own things without first having clients. What sort of things would you suggest writing if you've never had clients? Also, I'm confused about what I'd actually do for them, as I've not found any examples of medical writing that have been done (e.g. raw data or scientific texts interpreted and translated for a lay readership). I feel my transferable have come from my experience in teaching ESL to adults, working as a scientific proofreader for a prestigious institute for five years, and having a BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling first class degree. Do you think this would be enough, or would deeper scientific knowledge regarding physics, chemistry, or biology also be needed?
Hey, if you're not sure how to write things, I can help you learn. You do have many transferable skills which are helpful for breaking into medical writing. You are unlikely to need deeper knowledge - as when you work on a project with a client, you need to research and then understand the topic before you write about it. You might like to attend the medical writing skills for beginners live workshop with me in October, or get started with a course I've created for beginners here: writeclinic.thinkific.com/collections
