Really great question - I recommend you start writing to build your portfolio. Even if oyu can write just one article in a month, then you have a sample of writing you can show a potential client or recruiter. Definitely start networking on LinkedIn too. What degree are you studying at the moment?

Hello - Yes absolutely! I have worked with medical writers who do not have a medical background. Your Masters in Marketing would be ideal for promotional content and medical copywriting. There are different rules and regulations around promoting medicines depending on the country your client is in - so that would be a good starting point for you :)

Heya, Great question - I would say a Facebook group is not as accessible as your own website or blog, and I'm not an expert in Facebook groups so I probably cannot give you the answer you're looking for. I think anything can work if you're happy to stick to it for a long time - If you give it a try I would love to hear how it goes :)

Yes, I have worked with students before in a medical communications agency - often students have more availability than a medical writer during peak seasons (such as winter/autumn). I have trained a biomedical undergraduate and a medical undergraduate - both during my time at the agency, as they were available and did about 5 to 10 hours of work per month, plus extra during summer (but not during exam time).

Everyone starts somewhere, and the sooner you start the better you get over time. Writing is not something you have to practice over time, and the top writers get busy quickly because companies know this. So they are willing to train young writers in the hopes they can teach you what they need you to write (such as the writing style for a specific client).

Great question, I recommend you ask New South Hampshire University if their course teaches you what you need to enter a UK or US market as a medical writer. From my experience, it is possible to work for a UK or US client if your location is India and you have a portfolio or writing samples to show your skills. I like to believe that everything in life is possible, so there is a market, the hard part is finding the client - there is no shortcut to this, I would recommend you start sending people messages to build relationships and improve future job prospects. Hey, Sorry to hear about the burnout, and I hope you are feeling better now. Generally, if you can understand health topics and science, then you have enough knowledge. The more advanced knowledge you have, the better and easier it is to find jobs. If you want to start writing about something, think of what you like to read about. You need to enjoy reading and researching before you write - so I recommend anything that makes you feel excited or you are personally passionate to write about - for example, some people write about a health condition that is in their family or a medicine you used recently.

They look at the quality of your writing and how you have laid it out (format with headings etc) - design is secondary, but should be complementary (generally you do not need anything too flashy, even my website is basically black and white, but very easy to navigate!)
