Why can't I see the comment I have written?
It's probably because you wrote the comment as a reply on another comment, I responded to it there :)
This was the comment you wrote: Hi. Really nice and informative staff. Thank you so so much. I'm a medical doctor for 14 years in my home country and wanted to be a medical writer. Earned a masters in public health in the UK. But I want to write to you personally as surprisingly and unfortunately I am really desperate now. I think you are the turning point of my fate. Thank you so much. Could you kindly let me know how to write you personaly. and I responded that you can email me at writeclinic@hotmail.com

Hey, I recommend UpWork and LinkedIn :)
Lately I see carousels on LinkedIn that don't take the full margins of the page, so you can see it's multiple pages. Instead of one giant slide with the arrow buttons on each side. How can one create a carousel to appear like that?
It might be an advert carousel - they look different and have round corners. Or it might be a collection of images rather than a PDF. Can you link an example here so i can take a look and make a video to help?
@@writeclinic how you're describing the advert carousel sounds like what I am referring to. Does Canva have a template for that?
@@writeclinic I believe TH-cam is blocking my links
@@alienhippie12 oh I see, could you email me then? writeclinic@hotmail.com
@@alienhippie12 It would be the same template on Canva :) the only difference is how LinkedIn displays it, so people can tell it is an advert and not a "regular" post
Great to listen to such an interesting story!! Is it the correct time to introduce ourself to upwork as a medical writer? Just wanted to know the current situation.
Thank you so much for listening :) Yes you can get started as a medical writer on UpWork now - the sooner you start, the sooner you build your profile. Generally, I would go to UpWork to find your first client for a small job and get a testimonial. However, it's more important and more worthwhile in my opinion to establish yourself on LinkedIn.

Thank you very much for sharing. I’m a final year medical school in Nigeria trying to get into medical writing. I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I’m doing a course on science writing in coursera and then I’ll start to build my portfolio.
Thank you so much for watching. I hope your final year of medical school goes well! The Coursera science writing course will give you a good foundation, it's a great place to start. Good luck with your portfolio too :)
That's amazing! Well done😊
Thank you so much 💓 🙏
Can i use AI for medical writing? Wont that be cheating?
Generally, I do not recommend using AI for medical writing 100% = you can use it to plan a structure for your writing (such as find keywords, or suggest headings or a title) , any maybe find credible information sources (use it for research), but I would not depend on it writing the actual content or even summarising health information. If everyone is using AI to write, you're just going to sound the same as everyone else. So to stand out, you should always rewrite everything, and always fact check to make sure the information is accurate - this is health information a person will use at the end of the day, so it is super important it is accurate. AI is not good at nuance (especially health topics), so a medical professional or expert in the relevant field will need to check the work after you write it.
@@writeclinic sure thanks
i would be interested in freelance Med writing for sure...
Awesome, what type of medical writing are you interested as a freelancer? Regulatory writing or medical copywriting?
hello im a medical professional from kenya, is there anyway one can get one on one mentorship or guidance?

Does medical writer have good scope in future ? Can a medical writer earn good amount of money with increasing experience?
Yes, being a medical writer gives you a good salary as you gain more experience and build your skills. Medical writers will always be needed in future - there is always new health information and research coming out, so writers will help distribute that to different audiences like doctors, patients, researchers, sales people etc. and also update old health information too!
@writeclinic thank you for the information ♥️
Like the medical writing field won't be affected by AI ? because that's a big concern as well
@@54aishwaryasalunkhe54 Great question - I think all industries will be affected by AI, and we are still figuring out the best way to use AI. AI has many forms, but still requires data and human input, so it is not true artificial intelligence. AI is not creative or empathetic or and does not produce new ideas. I believe AI will lead to new roles that medical writers can take on - for example, building an AI for a company, editing AI generated content (I'm not a fan of this!) and learning how to input data so the output respects cultural sensitivities, avoids gender bias, does not hallucinate, etc. I think this would be a good video for me to record next. Thank you for your thoughtful comment :)

Thank you for this information! I'm currently majoring in animal science and have interned with several veterinarians, so I'm wondering if this could apply to medical writing. I like how you went in-depth with the concepts and provided a realistic perspective on the industry. Also, what was the song in the beginning of the video? I swear I've heard it before and I can't find it.
Hey, Great question and thank you for your kind words. Yes you can get into medical writing - I have seen and spoken to vets and people who specialise in animal health and animal medicine get into it. I will try to get one on the podcast soon to help you! Hey, You might like this video on how to become a medical writer: th-cam.com/video/0L9Crp3RVp0/w-d-xo.html
I'm not sure how I'd write my own things without first having clients. What sort of things would you suggest writing if you've never had clients? Also, I'm confused about what I'd actually do for them, as I've not found any examples of medical writing that have been done (e.g. raw data or scientific texts interpreted and translated for a lay readership). I feel my transferable have come from my experience in teaching ESL to adults, working as a scientific proofreader for a prestigious institute for five years, and having a BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling first class degree. Do you think this would be enough, or would deeper scientific knowledge regarding physics, chemistry, or biology also be needed?
Hey, if you're not sure how to write things, I can help you learn. You do have many transferable skills which are helpful for breaking into medical writing. You are unlikely to need deeper knowledge - as when you work on a project with a client, you need to research and then understand the topic before you write about it. You might like to attend the medical writing skills for beginners live workshop with me in October, or get started with a course I've created for beginners here: writeclinic.thinkific.com/collections
