I would also love a mod that makes movements and sword fighting more realistic. I mean, most people in Kenshi use their katanas like baseball bats. But on the other hand... it's Kenshi. A game where you fight with 40kg weapons against deadly crossbreeds of giraffes and... something with beaks. Beak Somethings.
I used to have Dodge Strafe but it became stale since it disables all other dodge types. Disabling the matrix dodge is good, but they even disabled the quick backwards dodge. Also, the strafe dodge looks quite silly because it covers so much distance. A much, much better mod that includes much better side dodging, imo, is More Combat Animations Extended (MCA-Ex)! Regular MCA doesn't have side dodges, but MCA-Ex does. It's freaking amazing. It doesn't disable the vanilla quick backwards dodge, too, so the variation isn't taken away! The mod also contains some (disabled) super flashy dodges that you can easily enable. What I like to do is enable the fancy dodges and reduce their chance (from 100% to less than 10%), so it doesn't happen often. Do you have to be level 100 in certain skills for the animations to work? Because I have it downloaded and even see it in the fcs and checked off but I still don't see any difference
Ah yes i knew about this problem with the strafe dodge and also so one think i feel is missing is a mod that makes blocking when unarmed more better you know like imagine your character just pushing a blade to the side while it coming towards him (i know a little weeb like but is somewhat possible right?)

I mean, no one really thinks that. It is 100% playable with mods, some people have just sunk in so much time into vanilla that there's not much to it anymore, so they need content mods. Some people just don't have enough time to go through standard Kenshi and need the XP boost/adv. training dummies mod. And so on. For real though, wish I could dive back into this game, just don't have the time of day to anymore. XP and Adv. Training Dummies just make the game easy, which is fine, but it's not for me.

Good that the Military craft didn't make the cut into this video since is really busted and broken, it has weapon animations that the AI doesn't know how to block and isn't standarized like MCA. (God I hated that unblockable punch that all swords had at close range and all those weapon dashes that never landed a hit.)

Maybe races mods soon? i liked the improvements of some of the races mods did to the vanilla ones especially the hivers extended mod. Nothing really game breaking but it also adds lore and excitement of collecting new weapons or armor for those players that enjoys collecting rare or legendary items.

For katana wielders only, there's a mod by created by AZUARU that adds ridiculous OP anime moves. Pair it up with Holy Sword start for the Edge3 Nodachi (or Meitou if you mod that up too) for that whole Kensei (Sword-Saint) / Kenshin / Bleach vibe. Beware that your playthrough might feel cheesed because of the OPness

I still wish there was a way of making it a bit more... Skill-based Don't get me wrong, it's fun strategising in ways that effectively minimise your casualties while maximising your lethality, but the start is *_ROUGH_* If only you could manually parry attacks....
The start is definitely rough. Which Is why I prefer characters to just level up athletics above anything else. "Live to fight another day" works in Kenshi. You can escape a bad situation, and also enjoy exploring the world.
This video got me wanting to do two things: 1- retool my Cyberpunk 2020 character to be decent at a martial art 2- play Kenshi, this game looks really neat!!
I'm trying so hard to find the mod where you get hit your character stumbles backwards rolling and stuff, really sick one... but I feel like it has the most complicated name known to man sadly :/
