    I've just tried an incubator similar to this for the first time and I've only had 9 chicks hatch out of 43. Had many chicks pip their eggs and then die really quickly without unzipping. It's been traumatic! I only used the top layer and I think half of the layer didn't even develop at all, probably due to uneven temperature. I used my own eggs which usually have an 80% hatch rate or more.

    Hi. Its good that you explained everything... How was it hatched (%) this time? Did bottom lay hatches fine?

    • @LivingTheDreamPermaculture
      @LivingTheDreamPermaculture  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We had a much better hatch rate next time around, but I think I would still purchase a single layer.

    This doesn't have a top floor grill so when you remove the top layer off the turner on day 18 , where do you put them ? Surely all 96 eggs won't fit on the bottom

      I had to make a second grill, otherwise they suggest staggered hatching but I didntbwant to do that due to the different temperature and humidity requirements.

    Where do you buy your fertile eggs from and have you tried duck eggs? I was looking at the same brand but the 48 model from the same website and do you use a 48 model too now i find it very hard to find fertile duck eggs in QLD

    Hi, do you know how to alter the humidity - I have one and can’t change the humidity %. Thank you :)

    • @LivingTheDreamPermaculture
      @LivingTheDreamPermaculture  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      no I haven't been able to change mine unfortunatly but you can dry incubate until lock down and I've heard a lot of people have success doing it that way.

    You are having trouble filling the water channels because you have the egg tray oriented incorrectly. Turn it 1/4 rotation so the end is not blocking the access.
    Also, you can leave the base tray in.

    Hi! Do you know how to reset the incubator. My humidity reading is stuck at a constant 99% and it won’t fluctuate at all when I open it, so I know that it’s just the reading that’s playing up :/ ?

    • @LivingTheDreamPermaculture
      @LivingTheDreamPermaculture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you hold down the cog button for 5 seconds to reset it. You can also turn it on and off and the days displayed will not reset from memory. If that doesn't work you can get a separate temperature and humidity reader which I found to be a bit more accurate.

    • @decthomas3562
      @decthomas3562 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Sorry, stupid question, but what’s the cog?

      37.5°c at 60% humidity increasing it to 65-70% during lockdown. It's been a few years since I've incubated (I now use broody hens) so do double check 😊

      Hello we found the 48 egg brand new for 170 and a second hand (used once) 96 egg for $100. What would be the better investment? Same brand

      @@jasondigital2521 sorry I just saw this comment, as it was under someone else's. i wouldn't buy this second hand as I've had issues with mine that I purchased new.
