Now you know why your parents and grandparents say they don't make music like they used to. No auto tune and real voices, not lip syncing or anything. Massive talents.

No they don't. Born in 1951, got into oldies at 16. So much great music. Awesome talent. Great guy bands, and just as great girl bands.

Righteous Brothers were HUGE. This was one of the most radio-played song in history -250,000,000 radio plays. The tenor Bobbie Hatfirld od’d in 2002 and left estate of $50m. The baritone Bill Medley is still performing at aged 82. They were once-in-lifetime phenomenon. “Blue-eyed soul” got their name by playing in black clubs in SoCal. Phil Spector produced many of their hits and added the “wall of sound” effect. Timeless brilliance - also best backup singers ever, including a young Cher

Pure raw talent no auto cues...most of what we grew up with was perfection we were spoilt and privileged to be alive, this motown blues and sound 50's 69s and 70s after that they forgot how to play instruments and SING all those enhancement Mike's never needed

I think anyone who has ever loved someone with a depth of feeling…. Then lost them will identify with the sentiments of this song. After watching this video, I looked for my husband of 62 years who was working in the barn…. And I grabbed his hand and went to my knees. With tears in my eyes I asked him to forgive me for all the angry things I’ve said and done to him. I have never known a love like he has shown me over and over throughout the years. Then he helped me up, and hugged me ….. without words.

This is the style of music we danced to at school dances. This song kept the nuns on alert when this song was played. The new generation has no idea what slow dancing is all about.

I'm from England. When I was young I was into Ska then Reggae , motown. When I was 15 northern soul came on the seen. Our djs went to the US to find iost soul, the music that didn't make it in America. Here it was called lost soul for a while but soon was called northern soul because the north of England fell in love with the sound .I still get high now listening to it when I'm 65. Just search northern soul and you'll be amazed. KEEP THE FAITH!

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 88 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century.
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree.
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

This song was written just for them.It went through the roof. This song was played more than any other song in American Radio history. No other song has surpassed it. It has over 8 million hits and counting. They were 23 yrs old when they started together here they were 25yrs old but are the same age Bobby Hatfield was the tenor voice and Bill Medley was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic. They sang together and also did solos. Listen to Bobby Hatfield singing Summertime and Bill Medley singing BROWN EYED WOMAN. (This song was written just for Bill). There are so many they were also known as the Blue Eyed Soul Bros because they sang from their hearts and souls every performance.

It became more about the shows put on then the actual music and most are lacking pure raw talent like these two had the vocals to perfection! The tall one is still alive and still performing. Back it this time there was no auto tune all there was was a mic the band and the singers no show which is not needed with talent like the Righteous Brothers had.

  • @mjsinger1944

Every time someone reacts to Bill's "Baby!" in the beginning all I can think is "Just wait for Bobby." Bobby's solo live performance of Unchained Melody is a must. Blue eyed soul was what they were tagged once it was public they were not black singers which were very popular in the 50-60's. I love seeing youthful reactions like yours. The only music that came close to this era IMO was hip hop. Please do more of the Righteous Brothers. Bobby Hatfield is my fave and he did solo's in Unchained Melody, Summertime and My Prayer to name a few. Please check him out if you like his soprano voice.

This song was the most played song on American radio and television in the 20th century. They were the first group to be given the moniker "blue-eyed soul". If you liked this song, check out Soul and Inspiration; it was written as a follow-up to the success of this song and peaked at #1 for three straight weeks. I saw them perform in 2001, just 2 years before Bobby Hatfield passed. Even though they were both 61 at the time, their running joke through the show was that they refused to say the word "sixty" so they just said they were fifty-eleven" years old!
