1989, I thought this was an early 80’s song. I’ve listened to it 100 times and will most likely hear it 1000 more before I leave this world. Absolutely love it !!!
I remembering hearing this in the Fall of 1990. It brings me back to my Junior year in high school when I fell in love for the first time. Those were the days when we thought our first loves would last forever and no one could convince us otherwise.
I'm pretty certain everybody, even now, thinks that way! sadly. alas, we all must learn about life in this way. for an extremely small % does that actually happen.
Sooo all of the sudden, out of nowhere, this song just popped into my mind.. in 1990 , I was a freshman and my sister used to play this on her cassette single. If she was driving some where and I was with her, I was her DJ For switching cassettes, so she could drive..
I am surprised to see that so many others are thinking about this song! I've searched for this rare song for so long. To see other comments as recent as one day ago confirms that it's a great song to many and not just me. Thanks for uploading this!
I had graduated from high school and was starting to come into my homosexuality. It was such a tough time for me and when I first started crushing on this guy "notice me" helped to deal with it!
I remember this song well. Love it . Amazing it wasn't a bigger hit. Just amazing... 20 times better than most of the over played out crap that passes for music today. I always get a warm sentimental feeling when I hear it. Romantic RnB masterpiece. Thank God for You Tube. Nikki "Notice Me"
I GET WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. I AM A HOPELESS ROMANTIC AND THIS SONG STILL GETS ME AFTER ALMOST THREE DECADES. WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL"NOTICE ME" JUST PLAYED OVER AND OVER IN MY HEART-TRUE LOVE!!
I am a hopeless romantic. I have never been married but dreamed of meeting someone special, courting them, and falling madly in love leading to marriage. In the late 80's, this song painted that picture in my mind of how and what that might look like. What an era for music!! It was amazing to find this song and reminisce about great times back then and dreams still of true love.
Man, I haven't heard this song in years. It's taken over 20 years for me to be reintroduced to it, and the funny thing is that I heard it while walking through the PX. Thankfully I had soundhound to let me know what it was called
Man, this is a trip. Only saw this video a few times on Night Tracks, and even on MTV, I believe. Recorded it on VHS, too. I remember being totally repulsed by Nikki's wierd effeminate look (stubble and makeup) but looking at this video now, and comparing it with today's off-the-meter insanity, this is nothing! ..the hell was I trippin about... lol!! One of my favourite songs, by the way; I've listened to it very often in the past 19 years. Very cool to see the video again after so long.
I can name this tune in a 1/2 note 😆 My jaw dropped when I came across this song. I can't do anything but genuinely smile.🥰 We were so young then. Such a beautiful feeling to have after all these years. Simply beautiful 💜💜💜💜
He was opening for En Vogue at Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA while my band was playing at a club on the other side of the I5 freeway the night I met my wife. :-) REPLY

Carla Linton. I remember this song. Notice Me by Nikki Ever since I was in the 10th Grade In High School. I love it then and I still do now. It is my old School Slow Jam.
recorded in 89, gained stride in early spring 1990. So much amazing music that year. Discovery of the amazing Mariah pre-00's. After7. Dee-lite. Sinead. Of course Janet was still riding high off of Rhythm Nation, miss these days, not just cause I was 20 but because there was an innocence and the world was hopeful and fun!
Yes he was!! He used to go by the name of "Flip Frier" on 105.3 KITS when it was a hit music station in the early/mid 80's. He passed away some years ago working at 97 KWIN in Stockton.
+HitsTownUSA I was working promotions for Mega 100 and the old B93 when Rick passed. It was awful, he didn't show up for work in the morning and they found him in his apartment. Heart attack.
I haven't heard this song in 29 years since spring of 1990 and I just found it on here. It haunted me all of these years as it's so beautifully done. Wow.
I love this song, one of my favorites. It was released in 1990 on the self titled CD "Nikki" he is now known as Michael Mozart. His father was an american pilot, and he was born in Okanawa. I'm glad it finally has appeared here.
Shopping in the Tabor Center, mid 1990s in Denver, CO. Kept hearing this song playing on the PA system speakers. Drove me nuts trying to find it! Such a great song! Was long before the days of smartphones and SoundHound.
I finally found it. YIPEE I've been looking all over for this song I couldn't think of the title. I used to listen to this all day, everyday. One of the prettiest songs ever made, I will forever love this song.. 💖💞
I just bought this CD (4/01/2012)-didn't think it was available, but to my good fortune-it was! Man, Does this bring back memories of youth. Only wish the now, rap generation could know what they are missing-artistry, talent, singers and song writers! Thank you Nikki for a wonderful song, and for singing it like it could never be sung/replicated! What a marvellous hit!
WOW...what ever happened to a decade of amazing music that had so much heart and meaning?! Everytime I hear this song a flood of emotions come rushing back...ahh the momories...
I REMEMBER LISTENING TO THIS SONG; I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. THIS SONG USED TO BRING ME TO TEARS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN A HOPELESS ROMANTIC ALL MY LIFE AND WHEN I STARTED COLLEGE I HAD A CLASSMATE WHO WAS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS-AND I WAS IN LOVE WITH HIM!!!! ALL I WANTED HIM TO DO WAS "NOTICE ME"!!
I was in Japan in the summer of 1990 and heard this song on Armed Forces radio. Loved it then, still love it now. And I just googled where he is now, and he's married to Martika, the Toy Soldiers singer?!?
Oh my Damn.. I have been searching for this song for years. To whomever posted this, thankyou so much. I still love this song, this is a time when music was music and people had to have talent to be signed. I wish we could go back to the good tymes!!
I've finally found this song! I would always hear it on slow jams old school on the radio but I didn't know the title the person and I just googled and put in I've been watching you please notice me! Finally!
I "noticed" this singer in 1990, even living in Tokyo, and I bought his CD at that time. He's influenced much by Prince, but his music was much "poppier" when Prince moved into more R&B, so I thought he had much potentiality. But anyway I had never seen this video until youtube uploading. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Wow! I've been a-waiting and a-waiting for this to appear on You Tube for the longest time and hurrah! Finally!!! Thank you for posting this awesome video; I do remember watching it on Night Tracks way back when. In my opinion, there is no great music after the mid-90's.
Me and my best friend was singing this song in a car every time we hit the road driving I miss you Steve I love you man this is a beautiful song here❤😂
I went to high school with the guy who wrote this song -- his name was Lanier Akheah. He was hit by a car and killed. He was Navajo. Very talented guy!
Where the heck was I when this video came out?! I used to play the cassette tape alllll day. I knew he was guy, & always wondered what he looked like. Wheew wee!!!!He looked even more attractive than I imagined. This sing still does it for me.

For me, it is that it sounds like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis' music.

This guy ( Nikki a.k.a.Michael Mozart) is married to Martika ( of Toy Soldiers). Fab song!
Lucky Guy! Wore out my cassette single in summer '91' of 'Love Thy Will Be Done".

Spring 1990. So remember this tune. I was 19 and my first year out of high school. So fresh to start adulthood.

Summer of 1991 in Virginia Beach. This song played on the radio all the time. I never saw that girl again.
Great song!
This brings back so many memories. The sweet and the bittersweet. I still love this song after all these years. ❤
One of the most romantic songs ever! Easily in my personal top 5. This should have been the number one song of 1990.
2022 and I still love this song!
I remember hearing this in the late spring/summer of 1990. Got a bit of airplay on San Francisco's X100 and Sacramento's 97 KROY.
I was thinking X100 too, KMEL was already harder edged by then and Wild 107/94.9 didn't exist yet.
IMO, KMEL was at its best in 1990.
+HitsTownUSA Can't argue with that. Rick Chase was the best.
