im curious, can you run a 4092 off a 3s battery with a high c rating and capacity. I want to upgrade from a 4076 to a 4092 but I only have 3s batteries. 2 are 3s 8400mah 120c. thanks for any input. I also have a 120amp esc ztw beast.

Just takes Kraton hexs, axels, and hubs and strapped MX28s. Some just use hex extenders to achieve the same stance. No other RC I've owned can rip as hard as it. Amistry20 thanks brother!!! They're both AWESOME bashers. Kraton is way more stable at speed on the ground and in the air. Outcast is WILD, turns sharper and flips easier, much more challenging to get a handle on. Really is personal preference.🙋🙋😨😵😵😵😲😎💪👊👊
What size spur are you running? Is the spur in the kraton the same? I ordered this motor for my v3 kraton, and trying to find a good starting point for a pinion and 20 seems really high to me as with the stock motor I have to run about a 12t.
I was running the stock 50T spur 👍. This motor is completely different from stock being higher torque/lower kv. Stock is 2050kv. I typically run a 16T Robinson Racing Extra Hard #1216 pinion with stock electronics. Any higher will likely cause you temp issues on 6s depending on conditions and tire size. Below 160-170F is the safe threshold. I typically gear my rigs to around 150F tops for maximum performance and efficiency. 😎💪👊👊

Hello 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Will the Arrma BLX 185 work with the Hoppystar 1730kv motor? Being the esc is 150amps and HS motor is 160amps?🤷🏻♂️Are amos something to be concerned about. Thanks send it king
I haven't paired those two together, but RCJuice insisted that any 150A rated ESC should work fine with the 1730kv👊. My Castle Mamba Monster X eventually glitched out on me, but it's only 120A if I'm not mistaken🍻😎💪👊👊

Question, seems like i dont get the help i need in the ARRMA forums and such but if i wanted a Cordova motor (1900kv) would i need to upgrade the dif gears and housing and any other parts if im only going to drive on roads and grass, no jumps or anything. im soft... Also is a soldering gun req and heat shrink and plugs and such? i have a hobbywing max6 in my cart with a soldering gun i may order if its req. Just looking to get more power and upgrade other parts later if needed.
Hoochi Koochi I'm honestly not familiar with that set-up but pretty certain Seth Holtz on TH-cam is. I'd message him on his channel to get his opinion. He runs very high power setups in his Tekno ET48. You wouldn't need to upgrade the diffs, but shimming is definitely recommended. Seth is a super cool and knowledgeable dude. Hoochi Koochi Also need E0206 Mugen seiki shims to shim the internal diffs. The Tekno #1222 bearing shims are for the crown gear side bearing on the front/rear diffs, I use 2 in both front and rear, sometimes 3 to push the crown into the input gear a bit more. Watch Thomas P of tpparts-rc Xtreme how to bulletproof diffs video. I use his same shimming technique with all my Arrma diffs. The Team Durango shims he mentions aren't available anymore.😎💪👊👊
I just got the voltage hobbies chassis braces for my Kraton the other day. Not to sure about those GPM shocks. They feel to stiff. I guess I'll see after I run it. Doing a compete tear down on the Kraton. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend. Just waiting on the new chassis. Mine had a few slit marks in it from the dremel. Lol.

SPT KILLERWOOD probably aluminum chassis supports. Easy upgrade but critical in protecting the chassis and center drive line once the bigger airs and hard rolls start going down...Lol. A front bumper is just as important really. Don't buy a shovel. RPM looks nice. I run original Tbone Typhon bumpers, small but mighty and don't shovel mother Earth off sharp jump faces. Backflips wheels are another great upgrade for the Kraton. 😎💪👊👊
Question Rich.. I have a Hex6 and 1730kv 4092 in my Kraton and started with a 20 tooth pinion with your recommendation but my temps get hot fast. Esc 170 and motor 170.. so I geared down to a 17 tooth and still gets hot. What's your thoughts? What should I do now?
Assuming your gear mesh is ok, I'd go through your bearings to make sure they're all in good shape. I'd think there's some resistance somewhere in the driveline 🤔. Also check the center diff is in good order. Just curious, what tires and weight diff fluids are you running. Those numbers are way higher than I'd expect 👀
@@richduperbash2966 fresh build. Everything is new. All m2c parts. 200k center, 60k front stock rear. All diffs, axles and bearings serviced or new. No resistance in driveline. Gear mesh is perfect. Practical prototype motor mount. Super easy gear mesh setup. Keeps going into thermal cut off at worst time possible.. 30 feet in the air. I'm kinda getting upset. Thinking I should try a lower kv motor if the 1730 is getting so hot so quick on 6s.. but some have no issues
@@DSC1320 I'm running the Hobbystar 4092 1480kv with Hex6 and 22T in my Kraton with zero issues. You might try upping the center to 500k and dialing back your punch if it's maxed up to 5. You could be bleeding power to the fronts. Other thing is vent your tires if you haven't. The Hex6 (3-8s) version has a

Stewdogg Stew thanks so much Stew, had a killer time with the the guys again!!! Tdogg had to work until later on Saturday 😥😥. He actually didn't get the Outcast until Monday I think. Total score for him!!! Yeah I took RC Bashing the Kratons idea to stop running the tower to tower since I'd never tried with just the HR chassis braces alone and because I had decimated my MT410 several weeks back when it knocked out both bulkheads...Lol. It's been an ongoing experiment of sorts. The brace was breaking the front screws off my HR chassis supports at the top plate I believe and bending the towers. No brace has equated to more body damage at the mount holes from linear chassis flex. You're right, the tower brace would've likely stopped my Kraton rear HR screw from getting sheared, however, wingmount movement also leverages that screw heavily when that curved plastic diff piece craps out. Bottom line, better to recognize a problem and act on it before collateral damage occurs😨😱. The new 4092 Hobbystar is pretty BADASS so far, despite being a portly fat 🐖. Our weather has been perfect for bashing lately no doubt man. Appreciate the comments brother. You always make me think and give killer feedback. I haven't tried the Hobbystar ESC. The Hexfly Hex6 is nice. My 3-8s version runs hot with the Hobbystar 4092 1730kv though😨. Think it's cuz I'm exceeding the

Guy Rose this 4092 size 1730kv won't fit and isn't appropriate for a lighter weight RC. You could never truly use the power to it's potential, and it was throw the weight bias completely off. A smaller 4074 would be GREAT!!! Remember space is limited with the MT. Certain ESCs may not even fit. 😎💪👊👊

J Ho mine is a V2 Typhon. I simply swapped for V2 Kraton hexs, axels, and hubs. This allows for 2.8 MT style rims. I prefer the Proline F11 17mm hex rims with strapped MX28s. You could use hex extenders instead as an alternative, but it places more torque on the bearings...etc. Did a recent video on the Truggified vs my Outcast Hybrid to clarify.😎💪👊👊

J Ho yes brother, you need Kraton hubs/knuckles, the red hexs, and axels. Your not swapping driveshafts or A arms. Make sure they aren't V1 cuz those are different and many places still sell them. I'd check eBay, otherwise it will cost 70-80$ regular price.😎💪👊👊

R Jabberjaw I think that depends. My Castle Sidewinder 1/8 ESC and my my 1/10th SCT Castle Pro, both got hotter than I'd like fairly easily running in smaller vehicles. Hobbywing makes great stuff and often comes with a program card. This Mamba Monster X is the best performing ESC I've owned though I'm pretty sure. Think it's actually only rated at 120 continuous amps, but it runs cool and puts out Crazy power. Think it's the internal 8 amp Bec, who knows... Lol. Not an expert with electronics, but notice fairly subtle changes.🙋🙋😵😵😵😱😲😎💪👊👊
Hoochi Koochi motor is doing great, but my MMX ESC just took a crap😱😵😵. Went to bash 2 days ago and it went kaputs right after a hard landing. Was just reading data log...etc. No throttle output. Think the circuit board broke??? Sending back to Castle.😂😂😥🍻
I just got my HS motor the other day but now im trying to install it, it wont mount to stock kraton mount. the motor holes, one is off set so i cant screw both mount screws in that one pushes the motor off set and or wont screw in. what to do!?!?! You can see the holes were not drilled even just by looking... its only by a hair but sucks i dont have any tools to grind out space on the mount to fix it..
Check this out. I was searching eBay for a Kraton chassis the other day. The best price I found was $45 and it came with all the plastic parts I didn't need. I bought it anyway because all the other I saw were like $60 for some reason. I unknowingly got the 2018 chassis! Pretty awesome deal. Got the battery try and all the new chassis mud guards (the the ones on the arms). Pretty stoked to rebuild it now.

Bakerboyzzz RC be glad you got the 2018 bro. I had to drill out 3 of my Arrma chassis to accommodate the different set pin and screw holes for the Outcast tray. Wasn't easy to get just right, but definitely worth the added protection believe me. The cost of one busted lipo pack is typically lots more than you paid for that chassis and extras.😎💪👊👊

It works with phones and you can post pic and clips in the chat on the fly. Also keeps things privet too. If not thats cool, just a random idea.
I just bought the Hobbystar 1700 KV motor this morning I saw a couple of 1730s but the price for the 1700 KV was not a deal I could pass up I’m hoping the 1700 KV holds up well and produces good
The 4076 1700kv is definitely a fast motor with the right gearing. Just have to be more mindful of temps. The bigger motors have more torque and better heat efficiency. 🍻

im curious, can you run a 4092 off a 3s battery with a high c rating and capacity. I want to upgrade from a 4076 to a 4092 but I only have 3s batteries. 2 are 3s 8400mah 120c. thanks for any input. I also have a 120amp esc ztw beast.

Just takes Kraton hexs, axels, and hubs and strapped MX28s. Some just use hex extenders to achieve the same stance. No other RC I've owned can rip as hard as it. What size spur are you running? Is the spur in the kraton the same? I ordered this motor for my v3 kraton, and trying to find a good starting point for a pinion and 20 seems really high to me as with the stock motor I have to run about a 12t.
I was running the stock 50T spur 👍. This motor is completely different from stock being higher torque/lower kv. Stock is 2050kv. I typically run a 16T Robinson Racing Extra Hard #1216 pinion with stock electronics. Any higher will likely cause you temp issues on 6s depending on conditions and tire size. Below 160-170F is the safe threshold. I typically gear my rigs to around 150F tops for maximum performance and efficiency. 😎💪👊👊

I haven't paired those two together, but RCJuice insisted that any 150A rated ESC should work fine with the 1730kv👊. My Castle Mamba Monster X eventually glitched out on me, but it's only 120A if I'm not mistaken🍻😎💪👊👊

Hoochi Koochi I'm honestly not familiar with that set-up but pretty certain Seth Holtz on TH-cam is. I'd message him on his channel to get his opinion. He runs very high power setups in his Tekno ET48. You wouldn't need to upgrade the diffs, but shimming is definitely recommended. Seth is a super cool and knowledgeable dude. His word carries a lot of weight with me anyways. Think he has a few recent Cordova running vids.🙋🙋🎄😵😵😵😲😨😎💪👊👊

Hoochi Koochi Also need E0206 Mugen seiki shims to shim the internal diffs. The Tekno #1222 bearing shims are for the crown gear side bearing on the front/rear diffs, I use 2 in both front and rear, sometimes 3 to push the crown into the input gear a bit more. Watch Thomas P of tpparts-rc Xtreme how to bulletproof diffs video. I use his same shimming technique with all my Arrma diffs. The Team Durango shims he mentions aren't available anymore.😎💪👊👊
I just got the voltage hobbies chassis braces for my Kraton the other day. Not to sure about those GPM shocks. They feel to stiff. I guess I'll see after I run it. Doing a compete tear down on the Kraton. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend. Just waiting on the new chassis. Mine had a few slit marks in it from the dremel. Lol.

My favorite set-up in the Typhon is probably the Hobbywing Max8 2200 combo. The Kraton would be Hobbystar 4092 1730 with Max8 or Max6. 😎💪👊👊

SPT KILLERWOOD probably aluminum chassis supports. Easy upgrade but critical in protecting the chassis and center drive line once the bigger airs and hard rolls start going down...Lol. A front bumper is just as important really. Don't buy a shovel. RPM looks nice. I run original Tbone Typhon bumpers, small but mighty and don't shovel mother Earth off sharp jump faces. Backflips wheels are another great upgrade for the Kraton. 😎💪👊👊

Question Rich.. I have a Hex6 and 1730kv 4092 in my Kraton and started with a 20 tooth pinion with your recommendation but my temps get hot fast. Esc 170 and motor 170.. so I geared down to a 17 tooth and still gets hot. What's your thoughts? What should I do now?
Assuming your gear mesh is ok, I'd go through your bearings to make sure they're all in good shape. I'd think there's some resistance somewhere in the driveline 🤔. Also check the center diff is in good order. Just curious, what tires and weight diff fluids are you running. Those numbers are way higher than I'd expect 👀
@@richduperbash2966 fresh build. Everything is new. All m2c parts. 200k center, 60k front stock rear. All diffs, axles and bearings serviced or new. No resistance in driveline. Gear mesh is perfect. Practical prototype motor mount. Super easy gear mesh setup. Keeps going into thermal cut off at worst time possible.. 30 feet in the air. I'm kinda getting upset. Thinking I should try a lower kv motor if the 1730 is getting so hot so quick on 6s.. but some have no issues
@@DSC1320 I'm running the Hobbystar 4092 1480kv with Hex6 and 22T in my Kraton with zero issues. You might try upping the center to 500k and dialing back your punch if it's maxed up to 5. You could be bleeding power to the fronts. Other thing is vent your tires if you haven't. The Hex6 (3-8s) version has a

I still can't believe my motor and hex6 are getting to 180 with a 17 tooth.. granted I am beating the living sh*t out of the rig. And because its m2c touch I just need to figure out this heat issue

Stewdogg Stew thanks so much Stew, had a killer time with the the guys again!!! Tdogg had to work until later on Saturday 😥😥. He actually didn't get the Outcast until Monday I think. Total score for him!!! Yeah I took RC Bashing the Kratons idea to stop running the tower to tower since I'd never tried with just the HR chassis braces alone and because I had decimated my MT410 several weeks back when it knocked out both bulkheads...Lol. It's been an ongoing experiment of sorts. The brace was breaking the front screws off my HR chassis supports at the top plate I believe and bending the towers. No brace has equated to more body damage at the mount holes from linear chassis flex. You're right, the tower brace would've likely stopped my Kraton rear HR screw from getting sheared, however, wingmount movement also leverages that screw heavily when that curved plastic diff piece craps out. Bottom line, better to recognize a problem and act on it before collateral damage occurs😨😱. The new 4092 Hobbystar is pretty BADASS so far, despite being a portly fat 🐖. Our weather has been perfect for bashing lately no doubt man. Appreciate the comments brother. You always make me think and give killer feedback. You think the hobbystarset up will work well in the tekno MT 410
Guy Rose this 4092 size 1730kv won't fit and isn't appropriate for a lighter weight RC. You could never truly use the power to it's potential, and it was throw the weight bias completely off. A smaller 4074 would be GREAT!!! Remember space is limited with the MT. Certain ESCs may not even fit. 😎💪👊👊

I had spare arms at home, just forgot to bring them😨. When I built my son's Outcast, it left me with a full set of spare parts from his Typhon minus the chassis, and few metal parts. RCbashing the KRATON thanks brother, definitely impressed with the Hobbystar so far. Has SICK torque off the jumps. I think I might've cracked that arm with a one wheel sideways landing I didn't post. Too much footage to load, went through 4 packs!!! Jacob Greth thanks brother!!! My Truggified Typhon is my favorite basher overall because it's so fast, agile, and more challenging overall for me personally. It keeps me more focused and on my toes. The Kraton and Outcast are mad FUN too and perform better on rougher terrain (rocks, ruts...etc.) I just keep switching it up to keep it interesting. Love variety when out bashing.🙋🙋😲😲😲😵😵😎💪👊👊

Rich I am wanting to truggify my typhon. Can you tell me which kraton parts I will need? I hear cvd's and 17mm hex's is that it? Looking for a setup kinda like yours not the hybrid but the typhon. Thank you in advance your help would be awesome bro!
J Ho mine is a V2 Typhon. I simply swapped for V2 Kraton hexs, axels, and hubs. This allows for 2.8 MT style rims. I prefer the Proline F11 17mm hex rims with strapped MX28s. You could use hex extenders instead as an alternative, but it places more torque on the bearings...etc. Did a recent video on the Truggified vs my Outcast Hybrid to clarify.😎💪👊👊

J Ho yes brother, you need Kraton hubs/knuckles, the red hexs, and axels. Your not swapping driveshafts or A arms. Make sure they aren't V1 cuz those are different and many places still sell them. I'd check eBay, otherwise it will cost 70-80$ regular price.😎💪👊👊

I've never owned a castle esc are they better than hobby wing?
R Jabberjaw I think that depends. My Castle Sidewinder 1/8 ESC and my my 1/10th SCT Castle Pro, both got hotter than I'd like fairly easily running in smaller vehicles. Hobbywing makes great stuff and often comes with a program card. This Mamba Monster X is the best performing ESC I've owned though I'm pretty sure. Think it's actually only rated at 120 continuous amps, but it runs cool and puts out Crazy power. Think it's the internal 8 amp Bec, who knows... Lol. Not an expert with electronics, but notice fairly subtle changes.🙋🙋😵😵😵😱😲😎💪👊👊

Hoochi Koochi motor is doing great, but my MMX ESC just took a crap😱😵😵. Went to bash 2 days ago and it went kaputs right after a hard landing. Was just reading data log...etc. No throttle output. Think the circuit board broke??? Sending back to Castle.😂😂😥🍻

I just got my HS motor the other day but now im trying to install it, it wont mount to stock kraton mount. the motor holes, one is off set so i cant screw both mount screws in that one pushes the motor off set and or wont screw in. what to do!?!?! You can see the holes were not drilled even just by looking... its only by a hair but sucks i dont have any tools to grind out space on the mount to fix it..
Hoochi Koochi that's weird??? My 1730kv mounted up no problem. Think it had 3 and 4M mounting holes. My 4M stock bolts mounted up no problem.🤔🤔
Check this out. I was searching eBay for a Kraton chassis the other day. The best price I found was $45 and it came with all the plastic parts I didn't need. I bought it anyway because all the other I saw were like $60 for some reason. I unknowingly got the 2018 chassis! Pretty awesome deal. Got the battery try and all the new chassis mud guards (the the ones on the arms). Pretty stoked to rebuild it now.

Bakerboyzzz RC be glad you got the 2018 bro. I had to drill out 3 of my Arrma chassis to accommodate the different set pin and screw holes for the Outcast tray. Wasn't easy to get just right, but definitely worth the added protection believe me. The cost of one busted lipo pack is typically lots more than you paid for that chassis and extras.😎💪👊👊

Do you use discord? if not be cool if you did. You could make a Ch for RC's so we could jump in as a RC discord community. Just in case you dont know what discord is, its a free voice chat used for games or not and has cool features like easy posting pics, chat and other cool stuff. It works with phones and you can post pic and clips in the chat on the fly. Also keeps things privet too. If not thats cool, just a random idea.

I just bought the Hobbystar 1700 KV motor this morning I saw a couple of 1730s but the price for the 1700 KV was not a deal I could pass up I’m hoping the 1700 KV holds up well and produces good
The 4076 1700kv is definitely a fast motor with the right gearing. Just have to be more mindful of temps. The bigger motors have more torque and better heat efficiency. 🍻
