I actually prefer Water Absorb on Clodsire since everyone expects Unaware on it. Due to its natural bulk, most people don't notice it isn't until it's too late. Freakin' love that mud puppy.
Funny fact about Clodsire: if you gave it an adamant nature and max attack investment, it one-shots most fairies in the meta with Gunk Shot (even Flutter Mane when it was around, seriously offensive Clodsire was Flutter Mane’s one counter).

Wugtrio with Gooey is like Alolan Dugtrio with Tangling Hair pretty much... if anything, Rattled works to get a speed boost with Intimidate, but, that's one barren movepool indeed.
It's even worse because mono-Water doesn't mitigate its fragility in any way, unlike Alolan Dugtrio's Steel/Ground which miiiiight allow it to take a hit.

Clodsire is just on the cusp of finding a place in VGC. Can almost make a toxic stalling strategy work in a format that just never sees it. Will be interesting to see if the addition of more stuff with Home makes it more or less viable. It's definitely a way more defensive metagame than Gen 8.

My favorite part about Toedscruel is that you cannot figure out it's speed until it attacks. You can spike up in front of Tusk clicking rocks, and then outspeed them while their guard is down.
I think regional forms make sense, but defeat one of the purposes of the variants, instead of making the original viable or relevant they instead make the original version nearly obsolete. There are exceptions ofc.
This is sometimes true but a fair few regional forms are sidegrades rather than better because their typings and stats change a lot. The only ones that are basically always better are Raichu, Muk and weezing, plus the ones that get an extra evolution (Zigzagoon, Basculin etc).
Technically, wasn't that always the case with new forms for many Older Mons? Like when Mega Evolutions were a thing, if it made a Pokemon actually good, it meant the original would be used even less

This generation may have some of the best made pokemon ever in terms of viability. It did a Gen 7 and gave every mon some niche but way better than 7 were they almost felt like they were holding back. The only bad paladean form is probably poor wugtrio. Another pure water type but physical which denies it the amazing ice beam coverage. Everyone else is amazing at least.
I’m surprised we got so few regional forms this time around. Sure we also got convergent evolutions, but also very few of them. Im also iffy about counting paradox pokemon among regional forms
Convergent mons are actually just "totally not another regional variant" variant of mons. Like they couldn't converge on features of other mons as well? Like what if Wigglet evolved into Wugduo and started to look a bit like diglett but also a bit like doduo, and then it evolves into Wugtrio and it's like a dugtrio dodrio mix.

Clodsire became an unexpected corner stone of my team in game. I just stumbled upon the wooper early game and caught him because I thought he might have ghost typing due to the bones. I saw he was poison and thought it would be good to have. He became bulk of my team who could set up toxic spikes and stall for a while.
Quagsire: "You took everything from me!" Clodsire: "I don't even know who you are." Quagsire: "You will." *Quagsire tries to use Scald but can't because the move is now exclusive to Volcanion, plus Clod has Water Absorb anyway* XD
I named my water tauros “MOOdy Blues” And it’s my favorite Pokémon from this Gen. In ranked I can typically get a good sweeping set up even against type disadvantage if I can get two bulk ups.

Something you can do as well is use the Terrastylized to mind game. It does help in certain situations such as avoiding a super effective hit when they take an advantage on your poison type. how I would've made Wugtrio is to give it either some offensive niche without arena trap like maybe technician for triple dive and so it could run a cool technician set or something to make up for the lackluster attack or to make it a defensive Pokemon, swapping its high offenses and speed for defenses and some hp(though I'd say a Dusclops scenario of high defenses, low hp works best for it). Give it shore up or recover, stealth rock, idk some other good defensive tools, maybe even a new move or ability that benefits its unique defensive playstyle, and you'd have a mon that would not only not just be outclassed by its "original" form but would actually be vastly different from it.
Clod resists/has an immunity to all of electric, rock, poison (4x), bug, fairy, fighting, and water (only if Water Absorb instead of Unaware). This is a damn solid set of resists... That still couldn't stop it from dropping to UU unfortunately

I used Clodsire in a playthrough in Violet, I can assure you that thing is pretty tough to kill with some good investment and Black Sludge xD

The deal with convergent mons is that they cannot breed with their counterparts since they're pretty much unrelated, unlike regional counterparts
Toedscruel is basically the utility mon.
It gets Spore, Stun Spore, Dual Screens, Trick Room, Knock Off, Rapid Spin, Taunt, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, and Rage Powder.
FSG, you should do a remake for Magneton & then Magnezone videos because those Pokemon recieved the most buffs/reworks of all Pokemon History!
