- After the State of Hawaii DLNR, did a sweep of removing all the outlaw campers, this is what they found. Literally tons and tons of trash from people who like to preach that they love the land! Excuse this is the Hd update of the previous video so I could put up on my website napaliphoto.com
Well can not agree more. The sad part is how much junk they bring in and just leave. Once you get off the main trails you run into endless amounts of deserted camps just left, junk and all. No shame! Mahalo for the comment, Aloha ke Akua, Tim
Aloha Gnarseeker, thanks for comment. Of note is once the State slashed and kicked out the outlaws, they also gathered up all the junk and flew it out. We are talking tons of trash that is brought in every summer and left by people who have no respect for anything no less one of the most sacred places on the planet. We can blame the State and that starts with the Legislators who have slashed the State Parks budget till it is almost nothing. Become part of the solution.
take kalalau back sure... but to who? Anyone who has spent an extended amount of time in kalalau (more than a few days) knows that it is a sacred place that it must be protected. Ranger raids that slash tents and create trash by destroying is no way to preserve the integrity of the place either. it will take a sustained community of good doers who promote living in harmony with the place to truly improve it, the 'cleanze' tatics used by the dlnr may remove trash, but it demoralizes the good-doer
IF you had not kicked everyone out making them fear, they might not have left everything.
I think its horrible that someONE abused the ancient hawaiian structure, rock wall. That is horrible. But it was probably done by one person, not done by all "Kalalau Outlaws". I bet all this trash was left behind, because of your attempts at evicting these "Outlaws" and threatening them with possible arrest. If you hadnt helicoptered in to evict them, they would most likely have backpacked their stuff out of the valley. I know some people who spend lots of time out there, and since they overstay the 5 day limit, I guess they are "Outlaws"... but they are very environmentally conscious people, and I know none of them would damage ancient hawaiian artifacts, and none would trash the valley. You are stereotyping these people by your flying in and scaring them off, I am sure some of these camps you claim to be trash, the people scurried off into the valley to wait you out, and would have then returned once you left, and therfore had no intention of leaving this stuff there.
These bums are total scum and should be publicly executed.
