Sticking with my Gold Tip Hunter XT 340s with a QAD Exodus on the end at about 440 TAW. Like the 30-06 of arrows.
Running the same.
I've shot Carbon Express & Gold Tip Pro in the past. Once I switch to Victory VForce or VF TKO Elites, I have no interest in trying anything else. I like their spine aligned shafts & their ICE Nano Ceramic coating. I like that the fletching area is not coated. What I would call the bottom of the shaft is devoid of any markings which creates less friction sliding across the rest. Add it all up, I am done searching. Makes it easier to add new arrows to the old, too!
That Gold Tip Hunter XT 340 with a 125 grain point is magic. I don't know why but it flies so consistently and I know I can count on it. I've tried about 6-7 different combinations from 300 to 400 and points of 100 and 125. That XT is super consistent.
Great breakdown of the arrows. Sounds like the shop is doing well. That's awesome.
Great video nate. I am shooting Easton axis 5mm 340 spine at 420 grains out of my Mathews V3X 29. They are 9.5 gpi and 3 thousand straightness.
You just read my mind! Thank you so much for this video. Extremely helpful. keep up the great work buddy.
Thanks Nate! I am looking at changing things up after the deer season. I am currently running the Easton Axis at 400 spine and 410 total grains w/ a Magnus Stinger. I was looking at bumping up 100 ish grains and increasing my draw weight to 60 lbs next season. The Serius and Victory are currently piquing my interest.
Sirius for me have been absolutely fantastic! I run the 204 Gemini and SuperNova SD and have zero complaints
I’m running rampage this season. So far I’m impressed, time will tell.
I've been shooting Easton 5mm FMJs, in a 400 spine for years with no complaints. With a 125 grain Montec, they weigh just under 470 grains total. As the saying goes;"If it ain't broke........."
awesome information , i been shooting gold tip for years and years just a great arrow for georgia deer and illionis for that matter . 420 grains . thank you for all your hard work
Always spot on, direct, and no fluff. Love listening to the knowledge bombs you drop🤘🏻
Appreciate that, thanks!!
Thanks for all your videos and information
I’ve been using Sirius Vulcan’s for the last 3 years and really like them. Prior to that was running Gold Tip Pro hunters and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. I wanted to try the Vulcan’s out due to them having a little higher GPI than the GT Pro’s but both are phenomenal arrows.
No question. Prefect. Thank you
I love the bloodsport onyx its discontinued now replaced by the punisher I believe 165 diameter is heavy but at 28” draw and the ROC insert adding 40gr to my 125 exodus FOC of 18 with great flight and trajectory out to 70yds. The ROC insert is what really sold me I did demolition testing and it bends a little but never breaks after that bought 2 more dozen to use the next ten years
I run the rip xv 300 spline with ethic’s inserts and 125 grain broadhead. Around 500 grains and high foc. They have performed outstanding
😅 glad to see the Hunter xt's on the list. It's what I'll be running, have built them at 29.5 inches 50 grain aluminum insert w 125 grain head.. they seem to shoot fairly well but I'm far from an expert 500 grains on the dot w rage knocks
Easton Sonic 6.0 with 50 grain brass insert. These come out to 472 grains full length shaft for my Nate+ 31.5” draw length. Loving them so far!
I'm shooting 4mm Easton axis with the titanium half outs but thinking about switching to day six because they're extremely tough and I think their insert/collar system is one of the best out there. I'm also looking at victory with the iron will collar insert setup.
Hey great info! I haven't seen you for a while. But I'm glad i caught this! Ya' learned me! Speaking of learning, are you still teaching in school since your shop took off? Again, i haven't seen you for sometime. I don't know if my alerts were not set right or if you took a break from videos. Either way it's great to be outside with you again!
Serius Apollo’s and Gemini’s are my go to arrows. They’re, hands down, the best arrows I’ve ever used.
Carbon tech Panthers and Whitetail xps are so slept on and I love it. I never have a issue finding them 😂😂😂
I love my Gold Tip Hunter XT!
Just picked up a 1/2 dozen Black eagle Zombie Slayers...shoot great out of my bow!!
I've shot zombie slayer 400 for 3 seasons. This year I'm switching up to some Deer Crossing Archery "Hunter" arrows
victory rip tko xpert series 400s 50g ins. 150 brodhead is what I'm shooting this year. I loved it last year
It’s crazy how many options available. It’s how much a person can afford basically. Or how many animals they are going shoot ( at lol). And broad head options. That’s crazier? than arrows. 👍👍
black eagle carnivore is my favorite 246 shaft, a little lighter than a gt hunter and i use gold tip components with them, fit perfectly. and this is anecdotal, but they are way tougher than the hunters too. hit trees and rocks and all kinds of shit and they keep going, didnt have that kind of luck with the gold tips.
I have a 31" draw and shoot 70 pounds and I love my 250 victory rips with qad exodus head
I'm sticking with my tried and true VF TKOs this year.
Always very informative and concise... Though my arrows didn't make your list....I've been with Carbon Express for a long time....and luv how they deliver a broadhead impact. I have shot Gold Tip, and I did like them....for me, they just didn't put the arrow impact like the Carbon Express Maxima Red or Blue Streak Select. All that said...I hope to visit your shop... I would truly enjoy having a set up by AJA...
my maxima reds spun like total garbage and a couple absolutely wouldn't paper tune. The good arrows paper tuned good but not as easy as my easton axis or rip tko I fletched myself using the spine align. I would shoot easton axis before CX maxima red and would shoot victory rip TKO first.
I’ve been shooting Goldtip since I was in high school. Every time I think about trying something else, I stop myself because I have all the parts and pieces for the GT’s and I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new stuff for a new brand.
Love your videos! I'm in NW Montana using a 2006 Martin Magnum Cougar maxed out. 62lb draw weight 30" draw length im using Easton XX75 2315 cut to 31". Magnus Stinger 100g on the front. I would be curious about your thoughts on this setup.
I shot maxima hunters for a couple years with really good luck then stumbled on the GT hunter xt pros because there was a store going our of business so a dozen cost me $60 greatest investment I've had in archery going from the lighter maxima hunter to heavier GT improved arrow flight and penetration
I bought some Day Six , best arrow I have ever shot .
Playing with some bloodsport onyx 300 spine .165's cut at 27", 465gr including 100 grains up front. 27 inch draw at 65 lbs
I’m gonna be elk hunting in sept and shoot 60# I’ve been practicing with FMJ 400, 29”, and a 100gr tip, 10.2 gpi.
Heard you mention stiffer arrows, 340 or 300 for longer distances? I’m practicing out approximately 50 yds or so. I also have .166 v3 victory’s and 340 axis. Is there one of them you’d recommend over the other. Thx for the great videos. Wished I lived closer to your shop.
Thanks Nate!.. been a GT hunter XT and Vforce gamer guy for years... the weights are so similar that i use them interchangeably... been eyeing the RIP TKO as a possible option... the appeal of standard shaft simplicity is hard to beat though.
rip tko are excellent arrows. Perfect balance of weight and speed and they pull out of targets so much easier than easton axis arrows from my experience. I prefer 5mm due to wind drift at 40+yds.
I run the RIP TKO Elite, great arrow.
.165 bloodsport onyx 340 spine components go a 1/4 an inch over the shafts 31in 10.2 gpi can shoot and survive a cender block impact and .204 easton fmj is a tough arrow as well but the most expensive and probably the most durable I have ever seen in action is the bishop fad Eliminator you can shoot them into concrete all day and it won't hurt it one bit but it's like 1500.00 for 3 of the arrows
What are your thoughts on the Easton aluminum 1916 spine 29"in in my Mathews Heli-M at 50lbs draw?
Quick question for anyone who could help. Switched from a trigger finger release wrist strap style over to a hand held thumb button. Ended up having to shorten my draw length by an inch. Is this common when switching over.?
Definitely more accurate with the hand held thumb button just didn't expect to shortening up draw in doing so.
Victory RIPs have been my favorite arrow by far. Love that you get a stainless insert right off the bat with them and they have been very durable for me so far
Really like the rip shafts but I've bent half a dozen shok ss 60gr inserts within the scoring rings of 3d targets. Never have had an issue with easton hit inserts, so I ditched all 24 of the ss halfserts and put in 50gr brass hit insert with a 12gr gold tip ballistic collar to end up at the same weight. Haven't had an issue since.
@@dirtjunkie2749 Hmm interesting. I haven’t bent any on the 3D courses this summer but if I ever start running into component issues I will keep your remedy in mind. Brass and a collar is a pretty bombproof setup
Pretty sure it's titanium not stainless steel. I switched to victory arrows also with the titanium inserts gold tip arrows use a cheap very soft aluminum insert that fails when you hit bone on elk. Was not comfortable with an arrow that could not take the abuse. I used to shoot beman arrows and never had a failure on an elk. Someone talked me into gold tip pro they might be great on targets n deer but they com apart if you hit a shoulder
@@johnstack4316 rip arrows come with a 60gr shok stainless steel insert. I'm still using rip arrows, with a brass hit insert with a collar. The collar is the only component from gold tip. Never bent or damaged one in this configuration, but have bent quite a few of the shok stainless steel 60gr inserts.
I think I have.... Eastons but I'll try n e thing once
Hey nate, and comment guys, I'm new to bow hunting and I'm shooting a mathews v3 27 at 70lb draw weight. I've only been using carbon express maxima reds. Both the 350 and 400s with 100g tips. Is there a better arrow or weight I should be using? My groupings are ok but not great. Thanks!
Hey man! I just started archery this year and im preparing for april gobbler season here in VA. My first set were 400 shaft blackout hunter x3’s which shot great but i have to travel over an hour to my nearest bass pro to get them. I have a shop up the road that has a much smaller selection that includes eastons, gold points, and others of that nature. What would you recommend? Im on a budget, $75 at max.
I’ve been slingin RIP XV simply because the difference between my TAC/3D and my whitetail setup is only 75 grains and they are more durable than the 7.9 GPI would lead you to be they would be.
Be careful about the nock choice and point choice. You want nocks that taper down, and points with an aggressive taper. The iron will points and AAE IP nocks are a bad mix. You'll split or crack carbon easily if you shoot groups. Ask me how I know.
@@YoureSoVane this is year 2 with the same 2 dozen. I’ve only broken 2 of them. And that was at Lancasters steal target event.
@@jedhuf7548 I've abused those shafts and they can take a beating. They just don't like IP nocks and shooting groups. Haven't had as much of an issue with the Firenock nocks, and the Easton X nocks take second place for breaking.
PSA: iron will points and AAE IP nocks don't mix. If you shoot groups, you will split or crack the back of the arrow. I'm down half of my new set of Orion arrows and a few other miscellaneous arrows.
My IP nocks seem to do this with all points
without going down the extreme arrow rabbit hole, just get Black eagle Spartans. .224 Diameter. has insert, nock bushing and arent too skinny and aren't too fat. just right. oh and they are strong. i switched from them for one season to Easton 5mm Axis. and damn are they fragile. Black eagles seem to be much more durable
Victory arrows come with the best knocks on the market
Victory RiP Ss 300’s
What about px10 parallel pro?
What kind of arrow saw are you using? Thanks buddy. Awesome content!
Weston 8k RPM
@@averagejackarchery thank you. Also, when fletching arrows, how important is the distance from the nock to the vanes?
Hi! I’ve been subscribed since I got my first bow, thanks for all the info. BUT can you PLEASE answer this for me cuz I can’t get my head wrapped around it.
Why is it we paper tune with our field tips, adjust the rest and so on. Just to put a broad head on and adjust the rest again and completely mess up the paper tune ? I was shooting great with my field tips, nice and straight on bullseyes. Move to my broadheads and adjust the rest like videos say, now my arrows are. Coming out all crooked and hitting very inconsistent.
change broadheads
Can I add more point weight to my arrow? Like 150 grain tip. My setup is 61 lbs 27” draw I shoot the Easton 6.5 Bowhunter 400 cut to 26.25” with 100grain tip.
You should be alright!
What’s the difference between a crossbow broadhead and one you’d use for a compound.
For mechanical usually they have stronger blade retention systems for the high speeds. Outside of thag there's no difference.
What are your thoughts on the black label quantum from gold tip?
I shoot them and I love them
Good talk…
Any opinions on the "Blackout" branded arrows (Cabelas/bass pro). Was told they're made by gold tip
They are made by Gold Tip but in my experience the tolerance, per label color, are not as high as GT arrows from the factory
@MossyOakFreak price was right so I picked up a dozen. Seem pretty good. Good to know they're actually made by gold tip
Don’t forget draw length and draw weight their shooting should be taken into account then the price for the arrow that will do the job ethically on the animal ✌🏻👍🇺🇸
I have a Hoyt Helix and the serving near the cam is is splitting. Is there any quick fix I can use or do I need new strings? If I need new stings, what budget friendly brand would you reccomend? Thanks
No quick fix. Unless the string fibers underneath are damaged I would shoot as is and replace after the season.
Other than easton are there any other mainstream brands made in USA?
None that I'm aware of, and I've called several personally. That's worth a lot to me. Been shooting Easton since I was 14 and have no reason to switch. I'll be shooting the Sonic 6.0 this year to try them out: very light 6mm arrow.
Hey. I have a question if you build arrows, i ccould decide to cut the arrow for 2 inches and have litte bit more foc or leav the arrow a bit extra long for extra total weight. So would you foc over total weight or the other way round. Ty
I have never, or will ever, care about FOC. I worry about weight and overall trajectory of an arrow.
@@averagejackarchery perfect ty for the fast answer. but another question :) so is there a reason to cut arrows? I am with full shaft arrow victory vap ss elite, and a nock vanes and 125gr point/broadhead + standard insert, at 526 gr. is there a reason to cut the full lengh shaft shorter? thank you. greedings
Easton 6.5 classic hunters or match grades. Some equipment just be overpriced and overhyped
Hey man my arrow arch’s super high at 40 yards.. I have a bullet hole.. what’s up with it?
You probably have a slower setup! Older bow, heavy arrow, etc. Arrows fly in an arc and the longer the distance the higher the arc!
Must have read my email then clicked “upload video” lol
The absolute absurdity that you can still buy Easton Gamegetters for $50 a dozen fletched from Lancaster or Local shops seems to be the high value winner locally to me.
I walk in walmart buy what they have and leave .. arrows are all the same just tune it
******** ANY NEW BOWS OVER 36 IN AX TO AX ????????? WHAT IS BETTER FOR HUNTING &&& FAT OR THIN ARROW SHAFT ?????????? FIXED BRADHEAD ?????
Your bow sounds like it was made in 2001
Buy Easton. Why? 🇺🇲AMERICA🇺🇸 That's why.

Ive found after testing every type of diameter and weight shaft. A lightweight 5mm is the tits.
Oh. And tighten up your stabilizer! Fer gosh sakes!
