It's great that you will credit the cost of a failed frack toward drilling a new well! I'm sure that must make a customer a whole lot more comfortable with trying to frack an existing well. It is really refreshing to hear from an honest businessman who actually cares about giving his customers proper service.

Hydraulic fracturing has been around since 1947 and was developed for the oil & gas industry by Standard Oil Company of Indiana (Stanolind). Some people improperly give credit to Halliburton as the developer of that technology, but Stanolind held the patent and performed all the field testing. They then licensed it to Halliburton during 1949 which then commercialized that process. I had the pleasure of applying that technology to countless numbers of oil & gas wells around the world, plus even teaching hydraulic fracturing training classes. Great to see it being used to treat water wells now.

As an old semi retired oilpatch pump mechanic just seeing that Wheatley makes me a bit grouchy lol. Not bad pumps, just not the most serviceable. Word of caution, make sure the valve cap thread condition is 100%. I don't know how hard you push it, but I've seen Wheatleys blow the caps out a few times in higher pressure applications due to bad threads. It wouldn't be good if anyone was standing around close, those 10lb caps would leave a dent.
Hey I'm kind of an idealist I come up with some ideas I was watching one of your other videos of you hide your fracking well I noticed that she was getting air in your lines from the sight glass I was going to give an idea of moving the sight glass to the other side of the tank and put one at the top a connection at the top and a connection at the bottom so when your tank is filling up you see it on the other side and it doesn't interfere with any air getting into your line

Seems funny to hear that most people need 800 to 1000 gallons per day of fresh water. In my 20 years in the Navy, most of it on submarines, we had to get by with an evaporator that made 8000 gallons per day of fresh water. We didn't like to run it continuously because of noise. Roughly 3000 gallons of that was used by the steam plant and the rest for 150 people for cooking, cleaning, showers, etc. Anyone caught taking a "Hollywood" shower (i.e. more than about 2 minutes) got to spend 4 hours or so of off time cleaning the evaporator. With a little discipline by everyone, we rarely ran short. Great job of explaining the process by the way and really enjoy all your videos.

16:15 1000 gallons a day? That's ridiculous! During the Summer I average 4500 gallons a month or 150 gallons a day, and During Winter about 2200 gallons a month or about 75 gallons a day.
Summer usage is higher due to watering the garden. I live in a rural area but have County Water. The well was shut down when the County installed water lines before I moved here.

So fracking a well mean open the bedrock up to get more water by using pressure and water to blow a bigger hole down at the bedrock, why didnt you say so, i had to google it to find out.
I doubt very much that you are actually putting in new cracks in the bedrock when hydro-fracking, what I think is really happening is that you blow back some of the finer silt out of the 'filter cake' that fills up around the water extraction point when finer silt / material gets sucked in between some of the coarser material and that eventually blocks it tight and slows down the water extraction. When you hydro-frack that borehole you essentially blow the fines out of the coarser materials and opens up the water vein again allowing for a higher water extraction rate again.
Now how long that lasts I guess is up to chance, maybe the fines are blown far enough away from the extraction point that then don't come back and the effect lasts for a long time? That's probably the reason for the prolonged pump / flush time after the initial filter cake has been blown away?

What you said that you don't test your success, but see whether calls you back or not.
Surprisingly I also do that, here in India I am a Consultant Hydrogeologist, and people rarely call me after ground water surveys. So I know I have around 90-95% success rate.

So based on what I have seen in this video; it is OK to turn a pressure tank on it side of there is not enough clearance in the well house to stand it on its base, is there a reason you did not use a tank tee as is standard practice? Thanks

Please explain exactly what you are doing when you Hydro Frack a well
You are using pump pressure to break down the formation's (water, or oil/gas bearing) resistance to accepting the frac fluid. As the pumping pressure increases, at some point the formation will start taking the fluid, and the pump pressure will decrease, as this indicates that a fracture has been initiated, increasing the pump rate will propagate the fracturing of the formation, by increasing the length and height of the newly created fracture. To keep the fracture open, after the pumping has stopped, some form of proppant (usually a cleaned and graded sand, but it could be a man-made proppant, which would be used on a high pressure well, as it would have a higher resistance to crushing, than sand), as the formation pressure works to 'heal' the fracture. The proppant would be blended into a gelled frac fluid to keep it in suspension as it is being pumped.
The fractures allow the well to produce more water, or oil/gas, due to the increased surface area created within the formation, allowing more flow into the well bore.
BTW, in the early days of the oil and gas industry, well "fracturing" was done by running a vessel filled with nitroglycerin to the required depth, and having it explode to create fractures within the formation, AND, in the late 1960's and early 1970's several wells were fracced by detonating low yield nuclear devices at the depth of the oil/gas formation, but while the concept was successful, the resultant radioactivity rendered the natural gas un-usable.

But, he is correct about the possibility of the fracture extending to neighboring wells, as this is one of the conditions that must be monitored when fraccing oil and gas wells, given the possibility of exceeding the pressure rating of either the older casing, and/or the surface equipment on the older well(s).
Question…. My well currently has a 3”, 1/2 HP submersible 3 wire pump. My well depth is 120’ roughly. I’m want to convert it from power line electricity to solar powered. I know that this is possible to do but my question is…. Do I have to use a special pump designed for solar power?
I can’t find anything saying yes or no.
All you need to do is make sure you have the DC inverted to AC and enough power to feed that pump. It's very simple, just going to cost a little bit of money.
Grundfos makes DC pumps, but they're more expensive than a standard DC to AC setup.
Power is power. If your pump requires 48VAC for instance, at 2 amps, then as long as your power source can provide 2 amps at 48 VAC it dosnt matter if it is grid, solar, hydro, or a turbine full of meth-fuelled hamsters on hamster wheels.

I am trying to fix never stopping well pump.
I changed pressure switch and it worked for 2 months and same problem started.
This time, i replaced well tank, check valve still same. Pressure lingers at 42-45 psi never reaches 50. My switch is 30-50.
Could you please help us sole this problem?

What size pump do you have?
How old is it, & how deep is it.
The most important thing is how deep is the water level?
What brand pump is it? Or where did u buy it?
Also try turning off the breaker & see if the pressure drops to 0. If it does, that's the issue...there's a leak somewhere in the drop pipe, probably a bad fitting at the pump leaking out most of your pressure.

I don’t know the depth of the well and depth of water level also. Pump is more than 15 years old. I don’t know where it was bought, it was already dropped before I moved into this house. I will buy long tape and try to measure the depth of well. I might rent a tool to measure depth of water surface. Good thing is we still have water and pump runs - continuously. 😅. When breaker is off, pressure does not drop to zero quickly at least for 5 minutes. It lingers at 42 PSI Thank you.
Size is HP 1/2 - I got this information from control box.
Your pump is simply worn out & it's time to replace it. I'd recommend replacing all fittings with brass or SS. Turn off the breaker when your not using water so it won't kill the pump, til u can replace it

It wouldn't damage it, it could connect to the other wells water vein. Rarely happens unless it's within 50ft
I'm going to search hydro-fracking Illinois. My well only fills to 75 gallons every ~45 minutes.

Fracking trucks are around $400k for a complete drivable rig, that's why so few companies have them or travel with them. But it gives me good ideas to possibly expand in the future. Fuel just costs so much.

Poor quality cable used it should be double insulated and rated for under water use. Taping should be every 1-2 meters

So wild to hear you say a household needs 1000gal per day to make things work. It's me and my wife off grid. We use water 1200gal per month and that's a 1000 sq ft garden, daily shower, laundry, dishes, cooking, eating and drinking. Come on humans get your head in the game
I always love it when you see those South African adverts for saving water, with quotes like 'if its yellow let it mellow' saying if you stop flushing the toilet when you flush you save 9 litres (2.4 US gallons) per piss which can add up to 144 litres (38 US gallons) per day of water saved, at the cost of your house stinking of piss.
How about fixing the obvious? 9 litres is complete overkill for a poo, never mind a piss. Half a litre (0.1 US gallons) is perfectly fine for a piss, and even a shit should only need one full litre (0.2 US gallon). Sort the toilet out, stop using toilets from the 1950s, and you can save a LOT of water without having your house stink of piss....

You made a common mistake glossing over or totally failing to explain crucial points of what you were doing and why. Not sure what was pressurized to frack the well. I'll guess it was water. I have seen a driller do what he called "develop" a new well by pumping it full of air but I didn't see or hear an air compressor so I'll guess you pumped water. More detailed please. We are watching to learn something.

We use about 200L (about 52 US gallons) in a day for two adults, and that includes everything! How does anybody use that much water? We don't have our own well but are on metered water and that hits around 72m3 a year!
Probably using ancient toilets that blast 9 litres through every time you flush when half a litre is perfectly fine for a piss,
I lost my cap section down 130 feet into the well and i dropped a magnet down and retrived it quit easely
Tell me about tapeing again, I only heard it about 7 times
It's important and it's commonly done poorly. (I guess) My well was (is) wired with 3 wire molded cable, I'll guess it's purpose made for that application.
