Thank you for explaining this. A few years ago, I had this issue and I went to the ER, after a CAT scan, ex-rays, and a lot of tears, they ended up doing a spinal tap. The fluids they took from my spine, tested, and found nothing, my body didn't replace the fluids inside my skull, so my brain no longer "floated" due to lack of fluids. That was a new set of painful issues. So they drew blood from my arm and injected it into my spine to replace the fluids in my skull. This was a 2-week endeavor. They still couldn't tell me why I had these horrible stabbing pains. It felt like an icepick piercing my scalp. It was awful. This explains why and I so appreciate this video.

I am so sorry that you have occipital neuralgia. I personally had chronic migraine before I invented ASTR treatment. Typically occipital neuralgia pain caused by scar tissue, fascia restrictions, trigger points and inflammation. In order to treat the root cause of your pain you will need to work on superficial/ deep scar tissue, superficial/ deep fascia restrictions, trigger points and inflammation simultaneously. Thank you so much for this video. You've provided the best, most thorough, easily understood information regarding occipital neuralgia. I've suffered & sought treatment for 20 years with this. I'm a retired RN of 40+ years who has sustained multiple back & neck injuries. This Wednesday, the PT finally said I had occipital neuralgia. Sent me home with exercises, get some la crosse balls for massage, and ordered a TENS unit. Excellent video, thank you.

I had an electrical shock or lighting shock behind my up the neck below the middle head, and all of a sudden, I got stiff neck with a severe headache, the doctors over here were just treating normal headache assuming it was migraine, I did not like noises and talking on the phone irritated me. I started exercise my neck up and down left and right and stretching but I could here sounds in my head like veins streching when I was doing the exercises but the head became better or less painful the more I do the neck exercise it was 3 years ago but suddenly the same headache suddenly started again in June '23 but without the stiff neck this time and I am still doing the exercise with migraine tablets. Could this be the condition u just explained? Or something severe?

I'm not knocking his advice but I've been trying to get my story out there. I've had chronic migraines for 15 years. They got to the point of putting me in bed 20 or more days a month, totally debilitated. It took me a few years, but I finally took disability. I tried every migraine med, even Botox. These "migraines" were beyond crazy bad. Within this last month, I saw a pain specialist. He touched my head in one, ONE, spot and said did you know you have occipital neuralgia with migraines? I encourage all of you to look up occipital neuralgia and how seriously debilitating it is especially with migraines. I was given occipital nerve block and for the first time in 15 years I knew what it felt like to have no pain at all. Some people can get relief for months. Mine lasted less than a month. I now qualify for occipital nerve ablation which lasts much longer. I encourage you to research that as well. I hope these help.

Wow, thank you for this thorough explanation. Found you after my last terrible migraine episode just yesterday. This time I could feel actually swelling in the back of my skull near the occipital nerve (swelling over the top of left base of skull knob). Migraine😢 pain was severe, and accompanied by extreme nausea, dizziness, and seeing black specs (stars?). I’ve suffered from migraines from a number of years but they have become much worse since being rear ended a few years ago. I plan to go back to my physician with this information to get on the proper treatment course. I believe this recent flare was caused by improper sleeping position and possibly stress. I will immediately begin a strict anti-inflammation diet today. The pain was so severe I considered calling an ambulance as it was different than any other migraine I suffered previously. Strangely enough I have physical swelling on the lower left base of my skull, although the severe migraine pain ran along the back of my skull and up over towards my right eye. This is the first time I’ve noticed the swelling and the migraine at the same time. How do we purchase the fascia tools? If anyone has a link to the doctor’s website or any additional information would be amazing. Thank you

Only on my left side. Like a tingle or a numb feeling around my ear. And pain when I turn my head left. I live in north carolina and if i could i would come to you for a treatment but if you know a reliable doctor in my state please recommend because im in so much pain and i cant find release. Hello doctor ,
Amazing info and a so much relate to most of these symptoms. After doing an X-ray I was told by a chiro that my atlas is shifted 5.6 degrees/misaligned. Could a misaligned atlas cause these pains and discomfort?
    Thank you

    • @Dr.Jacobs
      @Dr.Jacobs  ปีที่แล้ว

Great question, Atlas shifted because you might have scar tissue, fascia restrictions and inflammation that cause the misalignment. The misalignment is not the cause of the problem, the cause of the problem are the other adhesion that cause the misalignment. Bone never get out of alignment by itself. The soft tissue that put the joint out of alignment.

I had a suboccipital craniectomy to remove a brain tumor a few years ago. Within the last year I’ve had a lot of occipital pain and pain in the back of my head. I have learned that they had to cut through all the muscle and fascia to get to the tumor. Is there any way to heal this?

    • @Dr.Jacobs

I am so sorry that you had to go through that. Typically after this kind of surgery your body produce scar tissue, fascia restrictions and inflammation, this is a normal process for healing. I'm stuck in a vicious cycle of symptoms off and on for 2 years after i passed out and hit the back of my head off the toilet and then floor. I had post concussion syndrome and then had cranial bone movement therapy to help speed up recovery for that. Then i started physical therapy a year ago doing eye darts with a weighted pillow thing and exercises for my back and neck. I also saw an upper cervical blair chiropractor. I had issues with my C1, then my C2, and then some others of the neck. I am doing a lot better than before. I couldn't drive for a while as i had many neulogical issues. Now, when i get adjusted, he says something about it being my suboccipital area where the head isnt on the shoulders right. When that happens i usually have a lot of anxiety and dizziness is off and on and i dont know how to help me or what i need anymore. Sometimes i get a pain behind the left ear area and it feels like a hard bone of pressure and sometimes a headache across the back lower head where skull ends i believe. I've spent to much trying to heal. They also gave me a cervical denneroller to help put the curve back in my neck. 😢 i just want my health back. It's hard when ny health determines what kind of day I have. I just want to workout consistently again. I feel so loopy after adjustments like my nerves are firing off all over and it makes me feel so sick.

I am sorry that you have this issue.Typically osteophytes pain caused by scar tissue, fascia restrictions, trigger points and inflammation. Medication will not break scar tissue, release fascia restrictions or release trigger point. To address these issue, you will need mechanical forces with medical tools. In order to treat the root cause of your pain you will need to work on superficial/ deep scar tissue, superficial/ deep fascia restrictions, trigger points and inflammation simultaneously. ASTR's patient tool kit has 4 tools to address these issues.
Here is my protocol for osteophytes pain:
      - Mild Pain Package: pain level 0-3/10
      - Moderate Pain Package: pain level 4-6/10
      - Severe Pain Package: pain level 7-10/10

now i have mild pain between ear and eye that comes and goes ..on both sides.. i think this is due to both of my wisdom teeth (upper) that are growing...
BUT also i have numbness ( can feel the skin) and goosebumps kind of wired feeling in my forehead ,around temples and sometimes back part also ...i feel like i am wearing something.. you know the feel when wearing cap for long and after removing you still feel like wearing the cap...and this is only in my head area no any problem in body...
Is it wisdom teeth or i have worst things i am having anxiety that i have tumor, cancer or something going in my head😢😢😢 help me doctor...those teeth are sensitive to first bite of food but not pain sensitive.. pleasure sensitive like when you eat spice your eye rolls ...and there is no pain chewing .
