JJ is wearing a baseball cap with FDNY on the front. FDNY members know him well. He knows where he can safely go, and stays out of their operational space. I can’t figure out how he funds his ventures, because he never asked for sponsorship. This from a 79 year old senior citizen who has been a full time professional firefighter, volunteer firefighter, and fire prevention inspector at Walt Disney World. Stay safe. We came, we saw, and all on utube. 🔥🚒
Manhole fires can be very complex many dangerous aspects high voltage lines gas sewer exc Thanks for all you do FDNY is clearly the best fire department in the world
That's the same though I have. Most departments ( including the police ) would run you out by being that close. We're just the lucky ones that benefit from this opportunity. I want to give John a Big thanks for this kind of coverage.
I see the handlebar and catapillar mustaches are still fashion, might get mine back like I was a few (??) years ago, great video, thanks Pal, stay safe
Thanks, John! All kinds of interesting situations and complexities in NYC that are unique and potentially dangerous: The FDNY handles them all. Thanks for hanging in through the rain.
Thank John for all u do on and in the videos. Good job best angles up close and personal. You must have been a fireman if so. Thank you for your service
John. Another video well done and very interesting. As you say, when no flames, you focus on the operations. The FDNY always the very best in very dangerous complex situations. Thank you for a job well done! Stay safe. You came and you saw!
Once again my curiosity is piqued by apparatus placement. Engine 16 appears to be first in. It is parked in the middle of the street at a diagonal with a line stretched. It looks to me as though access is thereby constricted to other equipment that might need to come closer should the need arise. The street looks relatively deserted compared with many other city streets. Is there a SOP on these things? Thanks!
l imagine that the duties and rituals of being a fireman in the station and at various sorts of fire-related events become traditions that are missed by those who leave the department.

This is the first sewer fire you’ve covered in a while. At least no unexplained flying sewer caps. Great video of a textbook operation.
