- Aniplex of America teamed up with Otakon to celebrate beloved smash-hit mech anime Gurren Lagann's 10th Anniversary! We have worked with the English dub cast of Gurren Lagann to bring fans a special message from the voice actors that brought the series to life in English. This video was played at the Gurren Lagann 10th Anniversary Event at Otakon 2017, with ADR DIrector Tony Oliver and voice actors Michelle Ruff (Yoko) and Kyle Hebert (Kamina) in attendance. Watch as the cast recounts their experiences working on Gurren Lagann and their favorite memories from the timeless series.

I saw it some years ago, very good.
In my 1st period of school. I was very depressed, and I was bullied. But then I found this anime series called Gurren Lagann. My depression wasn't there as much, to be honest, I got motivated by the show, most of the time, it was thanks to kamina. I felt attached to this show. Even kamina his death effected me. But it was Simon his senses that he got over his death. I loved every second of this show. It will stay my number 1 favourite show for ever. And here I am on the fourth and last period of school, and now I can't wait to go to school each day.now I try to motivate others. I want people to smile. This show has taught me so much. Thank you Gurren Lagann

Your story reminds me of myself, I was an annoying brat when I first started Junior High, so I was always bullied (at least he people at my school are decent human beings, so it wasn't too bad)
Crazy Steve Blum's regular voice is just straight up Spike Spiegel.

I still remember when I first started watching Gurren Lagann. I have periods of depression. Although they don't get bad these days, it was the worst in high school. I had all kinds of people giving me crap, some of witch were they were at it for years. But the worst of it were from a group of people I hung out with, mostly by this girl named M. I started hanging out with them calling them my friends because they all liked some of the things I also liked. and with M it started with the kind of buddy buddy insults every now and then, then they started getting more frequent, then more harsh, and then more frequent and harsh. At one point she made me feel ashamed for ever liking certain anime series and other stuff, and she even got other people to join in to start insulting me. When ever I tried telling them to stop I ether told to man up or I was mocked at. It got so bad M even told me that no one likes me and no body will and the worst part I even started believing it and even got others joining on telling that. I felt a bit torn cause I did not wanted to leave an be alone and there were people that hung around the group I am still friends with. So at the point where I was started having scary thoughts during those deep depressions I started binge watching anime to try and run away from my feelings and the scary thoughts. One day I came across Gurren Lagann. My first thoughts was it looks like a fun series, and Simon at the time was someone I could relate to, and there was something on how they written Kamina that makes you feel inspired. Then episode when Kamina died and it was the first time an anime actually made me cried and got me depressed of a death. As after a few weeks to get over his death I started watching Gurren Lagann and saw how Simon got out of his funk got confident. So Io kick started acting Confident, only believing like a small fraction, but day by day I started believing in that confident more and more, and I started getting less and less people trying to insult me to the point that M decided I was useless a stress pillow to kick and decided to stop "being friends with me". That's how I kicked logic out and did the impossible. and now how confident I am is one of my most prominent parts of myself. I also have all kinds of Gurren Lagann stuff like the OST, cups, shirts, manga, even the team Dai-Gurren flag, also I am even one of the few people who have been able to pull off Kamina glasses, which I wear when ever I want feel like a bad ass. So I would like to say thank you, for this series, I would not have pulled my head out of my ass if you did not made this series the way you did, I would not be the BAMF I believe that I am without this series.

Man, Johnny Yong Bosch, Sam Riegal, Kyle Herbert, Steve Blum and Yuri Lowenthal are such a fucking dream team. You have Nero, Teddy, Gohan, Spike and Yosuke all together. You literally could not ask for a better squad of voices.

STEVE BLUM VOICES LEERON!?!?!?!?!?!? My mind was blown, also, now that I recognize Sam Riegel more from Critical Role it's so strange to see he voiced Viral of all people! Not just because he's so talented that I don't even recognize his voice as Viral, but also because it's just weird to think of Viral taking poops on beds.
Sam also voices Donatello in the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Anthony Chessar the second movie had Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in it and Simon had an actual full on fist fight with the Anti Spiral
yeah the movie is pretty much worth it just for that final addition to the anti-spiral fight
Video got me kinda emotional tbh. Only first watched Gurren Lagann in November 2016. I've watched it 17 more times start to finish since then, a couple of those times I immediately went right from the end of episode 27 to the start of episode 1.

i loved the Eng Dub of Gurren Laggan more than the Eng Sub mostly cuz it had my fav my fav Voice Cast, Michelle Ruff & Yuri Lowenthal
The English Dub isn't bad except for Kyle Hebert as Kamina didn't do it for me since it didn't have the presence that the Japanese version did. I prefer the sub but the dub isn't too bad.

Even with the shitty way they cut out bits when going to commercial it was still an amazing experience, for all their faults sci-fy will always have my deep respect for being the only channel to bring us this masterpiece!
And kudos to Toonami for finally picking it up as well a few years back.

This anime got me through a really dark time. And anytime I'm feeling down, I just think to myself, 'If there's a wall we'll break it down, if there's no road, we'll make one with our own hands!' I recently got the Core Drill tattooed on the inner part of my left arm, so I'm always reminded to keep moving forward, continue to be better than I was a minute ago, and never go back, because that's how a drill works. The characters, the story, the music, every single aspect of this show is meant to make you feel strong, empowered, and melancholy at times as well. But it has such a beautiful and truly amazing blend of every single emotion, that as soon as you hear 'Row row, fight the power!' you immediatley get hyped. This anime has, and will continue to be, my favorite anime since watching it back in 2010.

OMG! I just finished "Gurren Laggan" last week! I cannot believe it's been 10 years already, literally one of the best English Dubbed Anime I have ever watched! And I am definitely gonna watch it again! Now please Dub the movies of "Gurren Laggan" it would be a fantastic way to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary! Really is one of the best dubs, saw it recently myself this year. I've asked a few others that watched it but in the japanese language version and they all said it came across as stereotypical shonen, somewhat cringey, and its true the anime isn't as well regarded for japan/lanugage audience. It's sad how much the sub anime community has sabotaged the opinion of dubs.

Carli Dratel he is pretty cool on that stuff.
Seeing how emotional Christopher got talking about Kittan made me happy. Kittan is my favourite character and I related to his struggles. Christopher's line delivery always had such love in it which was funnily enough, completely in character with Kittan. He was someone who was always able to convey his feelings even when he couldn't quite get his words out.
Spoilers:
And I mean come on! The delivery of King Kittan's Giga Drill Break was nuts!!! By far my favourite moment in the show and is up there with the greatest line deliveries in animation. Christopher Smith put his heart and soul into Kittan's final moments.

I watched Gurren Lagann two times the first was on Netflix and the second was on Toonami i plan on buying the show at some point also to all of the awesome people who worked on this show thank you for your amazing work you kicked some bot if anyone gets the reference.
This entire show got me out of my most darkest and most depressed part of my life and it continues to do so till this day so gurren lagann is my favorite anime ever my number one forever.

The relationships, the courage that’s slowly built up over the show. Everything about this show is nothing but the power given. This is proven as it’s still prominent 10 years later. When I first heard of Gurren Lagann, I was watching a video of a convention and one cosplayers was Yoko Littner. It mentioned the anime she was from, and I thought of one day checking it out when I got a anime streaming service. I got Funimation and started making my list. At one point I decided it was time to watch Gurren Lagann. It was on September 2023(I don't remember the exact date). Once "Sorairo Days" played, I was hyped, and after the first episode, I decided to finish the whole when I had any free time. I loved everything about the anime(except for how creepy Leeron was, and Kittan kissing my wife). When Yoko and Kamina kissed, I cheered for joy, and I almost cried when Kamina died. I still wanted to finish it, and I was not disappointed! Simon became the man he needed to be, reclaimed the surface, defeated Lordgenome, destroyed the Anti-Spiral, and saved humanity, Rossiu, and his wife Nia. And of course the ending was perfect, of Simon being an unsung hero.
So, everyone who is reading this, shout at the top of your lungs with me,
"JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!?"
First Steve Blum was in Transformers and now Gurren Lagann?! Okay, Gurren Lagann is so going on my ''To watch'' list after I finish Planetarian and Assassination Classroom.
This anime is the only one that has made me cry like a baby it gutted me, truly.
Promare is also from the same director and writer of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and the voice actor for Simone voices Meis and the voice actor for Rossiu voices Lio Fotia. Also the voice actor for Kinon is the voice director of Promare along with Michael Sinterklaas.

I recently watched the entire series for the first time and I think it was absolutely amazing! All the voice actors did a great job of bringing them to life!
It was July of 2014. I was getting more and more into anime. I was watching Attack on Titan for most of that summer. I looked at google imagines of any anime and came across Gurren Lagann imagines. Watched some clips online and was aware of Kamina’s death. I watched a few reviews here and there. Then a week after my birthday I bought the full series of Gurren Lagann on DVD. I watched every episode and fell in love with the series as a whole. I would rewatch it again and again. I even watched both movie versions and I loved the movies too. I listened to music for hours and hours. The anime helped me get through my senior year of high school. I started out strong and ended with great pride. During my high schools annual music video day I decided to make videos in tribute to Gurren Lagann using Pacific Rim figures, transformers, bionicles, Kaiju mechas, and anything that looked robotic. Made all the best key scenes. But I had to rename the characters using my actors names instead of fictional ones. When each video ended the audience would applaud and cheer. Gurren Lagann had a huge impact on me and it not only became my number 4 favorite anime but my all time number one favorite Mecha anime. Even when I started college I would still listen to the music and make some artwork inspired from it. Every once in awhile I would rewatch it again even after 2 or more years. It’s an anime I recommend to any anime fan especially people who are starting to get into it. As of this comment I have already rewatched the entire series and can still say it is a masterpiece and a one of a kind gem. Thank you Gurren Lagann for being such a great anime.

From ADV to Bandai to Aniplex, the show still lives up to this day even after Kill la Kill did its run and Trigger went stronger as Gainax used to back then.

This is the most emotional and intense anime i have ever watched and i was watching for 12 years this anime taught me a lesson about life it improved me it made me laugh cry and excite all at the same time especially the soundtrack this is an anime that i will never forget in my entire life the fact that i also watch it once or twice every year
I sobbed when kamina died. Heck I still tear up when I watch it. Since this show I always push beyond what I'm told I can do.
