Hey Daylon! I was waiting for your review to come out before I made my decision. Still no red mode on the ASI AIR means I'm going to stick with my 12v mini-PC running NINA and will invest in a Pegasus Powerbox to help with cable management for my mobile setup. I like doing visual astronomy after getting set up with imaging and I like to check and see how my guiding is going periodically and especially after meridian flip. ASI needs to listen to their customers!
I hear you there with the visual. It's why you see my Dob in some of my videos. If it's not super cold, I'll do a little visual while the images are rolling. So, having red mode for anyone who likes to do the same to preserve dark adaptation would be super sweet!
just got asiair plus using it on eq6-r pro mount bought usb to rj45 mod cable but want to know what all need to do on guide camera connection i know have connect to asiair plus comport but do need to connect it to guider port on the mount?
Thank you! I don't own an AVX, but I know someone who does. I already talked to them and they said they'd let me use it for some tests sometime soon.....weather based, of course!
Thanks for all of your informational videos. I have an AT102ED and the ZWO ASIAIR Plus, I'm using a ZWO ASI 224 color and a SVBONY SV165 Mini Guide Scope 30mm F4 for guiding. My problem is that it loops and then goes into "calibration" but never starts guiding ?? What am I doing wrong ? lol.....thanks for advice you might have......Mike, Ohio
@@AstroEscape thanks for responding.....i actually added the 30 mm zwo guide scope and a zwo asi178mc last night and it seemed to work much better. I was using the SVBONY 30 mm before with an asi224mc.
The threaded screw holes on the bottom and side of the ASIAir Pro are 1/4"-20. You said the ASIAir Plus is 3/8"-16. Did they change the size or is that a typo?
It's a typo (sort of). The 3/8"-16 is still there with the four 1/4'-20, so you have options for mounting on the bottom. On the side it's one 3/8 and two 1/4. I hope that clears it up!
"What feature for the ASI AIR are you still hoping for them to implement?" I'm looking for Support for the Celestron Focus Motor . If they add this I will buy an Air Plus .Also wouldn't mind a "Demo" Mode for the App so I can check it out too . /SRK
Oooooo demo mode, that would be nice! Or a setup mode so you can get things like coordinates and time entered (if you don't have an internet connection) before turning on the AIR itself. Support for focusers and cameras outside of ZWO's line would also be a good move!
@@AstroEscape Also , for us Noobies , is there a Link that lists all the "currently" supported Devices ? I can't find one anywhere . Lastly , is there any chance you might connect a DSLR to the Plus as well as your CCD Camera ? No one Demo's this Device with a simple DSLR (for us Amateurs LOL)/SRK
@@scottrk4930 There isn't an updated list for the Plus, but on the website for the ASI AIR Pro, there's a list of compatible devices. That should be a good basis to start with, you can find it here: astronomy-imaging-camera.com/product/asiair-pro As for attaching a DSLR, I do have a setup guide I'm working on, I'll make sure I add in using a DSLR :)

Good video with good info. Well done and thanks. :)
Thank you very much Pat! Any questions for anything I may have missed or not covered in this one?

Are your stars in focus on the guide camera? It might be struggling to calibrate due to that.

Is the ASIAir compatible with Meade LX200 Classic and Meade LX85 mounts?
I have to check, I am filming my next video this weekend and will let you know if it's on the list, but I'm pretty sure it is!

I am disappointed that I can’t use my Meade cameras.
Yeah, being locked into ZWO is a bummer. But, similar devices are being made that allow for other brands.
