I almost shid myself, its midnight and im bout to sleep and was scrolling to find a video to sleep to. Got tired for a second and accidentally click this while my eyes close
I did the audiobook while walking, and waiting. Check out the digital Dante site because the notes for each section are really handy if you spaced out. Lots of media imitate the content but nothing compares to the depictions in the book. my 2c
From a Catholic perspective: If you die in state of mortal sin you'll most likely go there. Mortal sin is configured when you commit a sin that meets this criteria: 1) Grave matter; 2) Full knowledge; and 3) Full consent. Additionally, a sin is only commited by action or inaction, not by thoughts. When in state of mortal sin, it is necessary to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession), which is practiced by an ordained Priest, who acts "In persona Christi", as it was instituted by Christ during Pentecost. There's only one requirement to receive this Sacrament and that is to be Baptized before, as Baptism cleanses Original Sin and all sins, so there's no point on confessing if you haven't been baptized, as Original Sin can only be washed away through Baptism. Finally on this point, there's not a list of Mortal Sins, but some can be understood as it through "grave matter". Things such as premarital or extramarital affairs, homosexual acts (acts, not attraction), pedophilia, sacrilege, and other acts could be considered as it. Even though this is somewhat of a "secure path", salvation can still be given to anyone by extraordinary means, through God.
The thing about God is that he is righteous and Holy and because we are all sinners, we deserve hell and all sinners who don’t have a relationship go to hell. What Jesus did on the cross is pay for your sins and went through an earthly hell so you don’t have to go there. To be saved, you have to repent of your sins and follow Jesus Christ and then you will be welcomed home
