I've received dozens of messages, asking if I'm restarting this series called "Bronze League Heroes". I've been casting viewer games for years now! Including just Bronze League would be rather silly, because of the reasons explained in this video. But yes, more viewer games are coming! I'm aiming for ±3-5 a month.
You know, precisely because of what you said in this video, Bronze League Heroes could include players up to gold or even low plat. The bronze is in one's heart and mind, no matter what the game calls it now. But if you make it a series, we could more easily find games where you point out mistakes - a Serral versus Stats game is unlikely to contain any. ;)

As a player who recently got back into ladder after a 2-3 year period of almost no laddering, I can say that some current bronze league players have the skill level that past gold league players had. I used to be solidly in gold league with terrible macro before I found Lowko and started picking up better habits. I used to only build one of each production structure for "cost efficiency," not considering production time as a cost. Now I'm losing most of my bronze league games with mediocre macro and much less time supply blocked, even with 10+ production structures running.
Husky certainly established a brand that people miss. ;)

There are more than enough bronze league games in Silver to Diamond. Its the inner attitude that counts, not the name of your actual league.
Like I said in another comment, bronze is in the heart, no matter what the game calls it.
@@daeszk I played only one season. Was rated Gold 1 and stuck on Gold 1 Rank 1. I'm considering playing again, but I don't find enough time right now. Lowko watching works while eating, playing Star Craft not...

No, but Stalkers are weak. For any given purpose, there is a better unit.
But there is a floor that they don't get weaker, simply because they are omnipurpose. If you have so great micro that you can win with even the weakest unit, you'll want to build the ones with which you won't get caught with your pants down. And those are the stalkers.
What protoss unit is better against B.C. rushes? Not sentries, I'm sure.
Zealots. Preferably before the fusion core is even built.
No, but seriously, VRs should work better, and so should Tempests, definitely. If they have sufficient numbers, I'd even try archons before stalkers for that case.
EDIT: Your best counterexample should IMO have been the Liberator, or possibly the VR in mirror. But oh well. :)

Lowko you don't know how much this video played with my emotions - I grew up with Husky since WoL
You know... I used to watch the olden Bronze League Heroes back when I was a student... I needed it in order to relax and be able to sleep... I think... I think you might be able to pull it off as well.... I mean this in the kindest way possible. Not that you're boring, but your commentary is just relaxing and I can slip into slumber-land when I listen to your reasonably chill, manly voice with the symphonic SCII music in the background. And, because I played league in the days of old... the bronze inexperienced plays remind me of those days when I played attack speed Lulu mid and obliterated bronzies while getting flamed by my teammates for an off-meta build... Those were the glory days...

i think watching bronze leagues is more entertainning than watching pros.
Pros always go with the predictable metas to win.
while the bronze... anything can happen.
part of that is also the fault of the map designers. The design is so predictable there are names for things like "natural expansion" and "third", and the resources are generally set up to perfectly accommodate a base. You can predict where exactly you need to scout as well.
And then most of the map is wide open spaces that a simple deathball can move through unempeded.
Boring game-stadium designs.

Don't forget the protoss, who got so scared of one liberator that he stopped building probes and never expanded.
@@DavidGuild Liberators are so incredible I'm amazed the Protoss didn't just GG out: it shoots ground stuff AND air stuff? You can't beat something that overpowered!

I've already seen a lot of your videos, always great, but this one was amazing, hilarious and unique way to relate a game. Hope to see more of this bronze league matches and I'm also grateful for the tips at the end.

Thank God I can't like this multiple times as I would break my phone tapping like button furiously!!! I love it, please make more of those hilariously amazing games. This was great! With the unit composition isn't it the case bronze players choose units easier to control?
Lowko - One reason that less than talented Toss players like Photon cannons, void rays and to some extent stalkers is because they are easier to micro than the more powerful units and shoot both air and ground units. It is a trade off for those of us whose APM doesn't break 50 or so. While I am able to create units like Immortals they are difficult to macro effectively and I end up throwing them away to a player who is better at micro and can pick them off. Pro players have the skills to effectively take advantage of the more powerful units.

i kinda want to see more of this silly games cuz it's so amusing to the point that i would watch them again and again
I had a guy, who knew I went skytoss. Had 5 voids. I attacked his mineral line in main and slaughtered them all as he choose to rush me with ravengers and roaches. Which was weird.
I blew his lair then recalled and killed the ground forces since he didn't have anti air.
By this point he massed mutas and hydra, but I had 22 voids on 2,2 with 6 carriers.
I hit him on his natural (we're both less than bronze players), which he didn't micro but just attack clicked and his force got pinned between the spore crawler and gas refinery.
I picked everything off and he just gg'd me at that point.
First time playing another player today. 1 win, 1 loss.
Fun stuff!
The loss match was my voids racing a base trade against his mass DT, in the end he got me.

If only he died. Instead he’s become... something. I’m not sure what he’s become with that channel nowadays.
I wouldn't mourn the loss of Husky after he deleted all of his old content. The Husky we knew is gone and what remains is a hollow shell. If you're looking for a proper BLH series, WinterStarcraft took up the mantle some years ago and has over a hundred and sixty episodes and counting.
New Protoss players tend to go for units that aren't as common in pro games because they seem better on paper, or are easier to use.
Adepts - can project shades (useful for a variety of reasons)
Stalkers - not too expensive, can shoot ground and air
Dark Templar - permanently cloaked
Void rays - can shoot ground and air, prismatic alignment, pretty powerful when massed
Photon cannons - don't move when you use the all-army hotkey :D
Zealots - extremely short-ranged, can only attack ground
Immortals - not a gateway unit, can only attack ground
Archons - I don't know maybe it's too much work to make them...?
High Templar - hard to use

to answer your question on what is up with the different types of units used in pro vs ladder is simple. most pro games don't come down to cheese or build order. it comes down to pure macro for the most part. in ladder, it's all about that cheese in the lower ranked til high plat/low diamond i believe. don't quote me on that last sentence, but, i heard casters from korea who do the korean league mention it a few times. it's basically like league in that aspect. in pro, it's all about the draft. having a good team comp that can work well and somewhat simply vs solo/duo queue where comps really don't matter til mid diamond. basically, it's one tricking a champ to high elo, then, once you have a better understanding of your role in that game, it doesn't come down to champ mechanics as much as it does the macro aspect of league(aka. playing the map).

Edit2: Papak is using a massively underrated, but imbalancedly good build, it's the 10 and a half minute cannon rush in the place where your command center used to be rush.

Lowko, the units you mentioned not being used at high tier may be really good at low tier. Things that require micro and game sense like HT's might be too much for bronze and silver players. Stalkers and DT's are easy to use, since a player can just send them somewhere and have them do work.
