Excellent video :).. I finally got to do these last year.. Decades after we drove past when was young, shouting stop the car!!... Rock Rocks, and Elbow just jutting out like it does right from the road side is just amazing.. Eventually got to do something called Matterhorn aswell :))
    Well done folks Great Video!

Awesome video mate, thank you for sharing! I'm planning on taking on Elbow Ridge next week (weather/rock conditions permitting) as my first more difficult and exposed scramble. Only have experience on grade 1-2 scrambles, but a few years of bouldering experience. This seems like a nice fun one to try carefully without faffing with gear.

You will love it! I thought it would be harder than it was as I treated it with a rock climbing mind rather than a walk/hike which meant I was a bit more careful. Enjoy!

@@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson That's great to hear. Yes I've kind of thought of it as a free solo climb (maybe a bit dramatic, but that keeps my mind focused on a "3 points of contact", "no fall" mentality😂). So my idea is to treat it with all the respect that deserves, and then hopefully be rewarded with an incredibly fun ridge scramble! The plan will be to start with the ridge, then have a good day's walking after that - though I might end up going up it several times in a row if I enjoy it enough 😅

Why is the guy in orange trying to go up it so fast? I hear there’s a lot of loose stuff on there. Seems very risky.

Genuine Question: Do you know with the isolated 'seat' that is behind you from 6 minutes onwards is called? Not plugging, but I've uploaded a video of me on it and I have no idea if it even has a name. Iv'e just called it 'The Giddy Seat', because of a near by trail. Excellent video by the way. I may have to give scrambling a go.

I actually do not know if it has a name sorry! Definately an awesome scramble!

Thanks for the reply. Iv'e just named it 'The Giddy Seat', because if a nearby trail. There is also a cave near by called 'Suicide Cave', but I thought better off it. I'll maybe see you scrambling sometime soon. Cheers. @@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson

I've been to Castleton and Winnats many tens of times. Why did I not know about these scrambles? They look perfect. I will be a taking a look next time (if I can drag someone away from nasty dirty potholing). Presumably hardly any of it is actually v-diff?

It was pretty easy. We had harnesses, rope and gear but never had to use it. I would sat more like a Mod but with real exposure which is what pushes it up I think.
Definately worth doing both! Elbow Ridge has more exposure but Matterhorn Ridge was the best :)

Do you think this will be OK to do after wet weather with grippy shoes or should it only be tracked in absolutely dry conditions?

Do you recommend doing this in climbing shoes or is trail running shoes enough?
