    Great video. You always have great content. Three thoughts. 1. Beams run horizontally, posts are vertical. Posts around a door opening are jambs. 2. A wider door jamb could have accommodated a traditional stop molding to keep the door from pushing in (curious to see how the stops on the caps hold up). 3. Mounting the door to swing in to the hallway would allow it to stay open against the wall and be out of the way. It may still be possible to rotate the whole assembly if the current setup proves awkward. Again, thanks for great content. Keep it coming.

    This is great, and looks beautiful. I'm researching making something like this but for outside. As a last resort, if one of the mutts makes his great escape out the front door. lol

    The gate is beautiful. I like James' comments below, with info from you two, I have a great direction for my dog gate. Side note: I've got 3 Dutch/German Shepherd "puppies" (10 months old, yet the male is 100 lbs-ish) and they "help" me, too. They are insanely helpful. LOL Thanks for sharing the build and pup moments!

    Looks great! My parents used a permanent baby gate at the top of the stairs for my nephew and made it so it would hang up against the wall and out of the way when they didn't need it. It's pretty version of that!

    Interesting build I like the idea!
    Isn’t the stopblock on the RHS a massive snag hazard though? First time you catch your hip on it you’re gonna be mad.
    Also, it opens outwards into another corridor blocking that one entirely?
    Why not build it against the internal wall so that it can be latched open and out of the way?

  • @billc9185
    @billc9185 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the video's. This would come in great for our 2 pups. Why didn't you set it up to swing in to the hallway? That way you could leave it open and it would be out of the way

    Hi Ben, Found you channel recently and am enjoying your innovative ideas. Just a glue up tip: Look up cross grain glue ups and possible problems. I get this is a gate and not a piece of fine furniture but always good to for cross grain gluing.

    Another reason to sand down the corners, "break the corners," is to protect the finish over time. If the corners are sharp when the finish/paint is put on, over time the corners will break off and the wood will peek through and ruin the finish. Softening the corners will end up strengthening/protecting the corners from wearing down as easily.

    Great work! I bet that the caramel dog will learn to jump that in no time by watching the cat. 😂 I had a little dog that would jump super high fences no matter what my father instaled to keep her in her yard. He is a physicist with lots of engineering experience but she would win everytime. He had a lot of tecnical difficulties with her. 🤣🤣🤣 he even make a yt video of her jumping the fence
