That was a culture shock for me too when I went to Korea. Less surprising in China. I grew up in 80s rural communist Hungary. This threw me off in 2007.
Loved the part where you revisited the old Blockbuster, something about that first job in or just out of high school that holds a special place in your heart, the people especially
At 42 years old, and watching this. I can honestly say we were the last generation that had it really good. I'm just happy the mall I grew up going to is still thriving and is full of people of all ages every time I go there. This was an amazing episode.
I’m about to turn 42 and I agree 100%. I just feel sorry for my kids, growing up now must be very difficult, with the crazy world we live in. I guess they don’t know what they’re missing.
Traders Village was my first job. From 1992 to 1993. I cleaned those freaking bathrooms. I was also a blockbuster employee at 3:03 and North carrier. Guys, this episode gave me a total nostalgic nipple hard on. Not gonna lie, Maybe even a couple of tears. We are old, guys. But, love to see you guys doing what you’re doing and even for just a moment, you bring my past back to me in a good way. Congratulations on all of this success, and on the movie Streaming on major platforms. I will always have Love for BJ. Excuse me, for Billy and Jay. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Amazing episode. Almost brings a tear to my eye hearing Billy talk about physical media going away. On a positive note at least we have had an opportunity to live through the greatest decades ever and today we have a chance to preserve as much of this cool stuff as possible.
Agreed. When I started doing that my family was going to MovieMania. Then we started going to Blockbuster. And we ended up doing Family Video by the time I hit college.
When old boy says "we're going in, right?" At 20:28... Man, I felt that. That feeling you get when you revisit a place where you spent a lot of time and have memories of. Not gonna lie, I have many fond memories of going to Blockbuster and VideoMat (based out of New England). Shoot, I remember when Blockbuster rented out NES games. We rented Adventure Island 3, Star Fox, Earthworm Jim, and many other games from there. We even rented a Sega Saturn in the summer of 95. Great times.
I've been watching since the first episode and I enjoyed seeing all the rare finds over the years but I have to say some of my favorite moments and episodes are the sentimental ones. I love hearing the chodes reminisce about the early years of them meeting and hanging out
This is what keeps you guys real and unique. I watch your videos and relate to the struggle to find games and nostalgia of things from our past like a blockbuster. Other content creators tend to find gold every video but it loses the heart of what makes these type of videos special. Keep up the awesome work!
The episodes where you guys reminisce about the old days are always a hit. I have lots of great memories renting games from Blockbuster, and now as an adult I want to find all the games that I enjoyed renting! Sounds like it was a fun work environment, that's always a good feeling. Thanks for another great episode!
One of the things I remember from my childhood and the kids of today more than likely will not experience is getting your mom to buy you a brand new game and then on the car ride home opening up the game and reading through the instructions looking at the pictures on the box manual and just getting so excited like you're already almost imagining what it's going to be like to play it in your head before you even get home and put it in the console for the first. Also similar experiences like this for the car rides home from Blockbuster on Friday nights when you got the game you were going to play that weekend.
Loved the nostalgic trip back. Im class of 96 so were probably close in age. I remember all the same shit, and i miss It All! Id get off at Pizza Hut, my buddy worked at Subway across the street. Hed make me a comp meatball sub with pepperoni on the bottom, and then he'd give me like 10 bucks to walk down the lot to the Blockbuster. Hed tell me to just pick him up some VHS movies... he just trusted my taste. Even though he could've just walked over after he got off... I miss those days more than ever.
I love when you guys reminisce about your past, whether its this episode and another about working at Blockbuster or when visiting Dodongo’s old stomping grounds. It always hits me right in the feels.
My late aunt used to work at our blockbuster and it’s touching to think back to when I was 6-7 going to see her at work and she’d tell us to pick out a game or movie and she would rent it for us. Or bring us home candy that the store never sold it was always a blast , lost her to cancer around 7-8 years ago rip aunty we miss you❤️
Damn that Blockbuster portion hit me in my feels hard! My mom and I would go there every Friday, damn I miss her and those days. Thank you triggering a happy memory!
Nothing better than seeing a new episode of Game Chasers!!! You guys are the bestest ya'll give me that warm fuzzy Christmas feeling thank you from the bottom of my soul!!! Much love God bless you guys✝️🙏
Daaaamn. That Game Boy Color that they wanted $85 I found at a yard sale for $5 (in purple). The OG Game Boy they wanted $100 for I found at a thrift store a few years ago, before they realized video game systems were worth something, for $10 with the rechargeable battery pack! Though it didn't have the cord to plug the pack into the wall for recharging and I've never been able to find one. But I have a cord from an old DSLR camera that happens to have the same connector and it works lol. Glad I picked those up when I did! That day at the thrift store I also picked up an N64 with all cables and 4 controllers for $20. Haven't had a day that great since.
16:18 lmaoooo dats how game chasing go! I can honestly say I enjoy these more and more. The block buster story was also cool you all are so relatable. I LOVE that each episode I am surprised. Till the next one!
Great episode! I also worked at Blockbuster, from 2001 to 2007. I still vividly remember that we had a store meeting the morning of September 12th, 2001. That was weird and actually pretty gross that the meeting was not cancelled. But I have a lot of fond memories working there. Being young and having fun surrounded by movies. Definitely the best job I've ever had even though the pay was bad. You guys should fly out to Bend, Oregon to visit the last Blockbuster. Who knows how much longer it will survive..
Fun to hear you guys talk about the video store. We just took our son to see Ghostbusters, ah hem, whatever about that, just the old days. Just to be in a movie theater since he can’t go into a video store. We came home and played some Blades of Steel.
The poop in the trash can is because in Mexico their sewage can't handle toilet paper. Every stall has a trash can to wipe and place the toilet paper in. I worked many years in Industrial Mexico and not tourist. Whoever was in that stall just kept doing what was natural to them.
Another episode that brought so many nostalgia... Thank you game chaser, eventhough someday physical media is gone, we all will still had the reminiscence of it through this video of yours. Someday in the far future scentist will learn this video and learn about that poop
Loved the blockbuster throwback! My blockbuster we went to when I was a kid was the one in Arlington at Green Oaks and 360, always a good time renting movies and games!
15:30 Fun fact: here in Brazil is normal to throw toilet paper in the bathroom's trash can. That's because our plumbing system is so old and bad that throwing toilet paper down the toilet would clog the pipes. Newer homes can flush toilet paper, but most can't. That leads to "funny" stories when Brazilians travel aboard, because we are so used to throwing toilet paper in the trash can that when we do that in somebody else's home, they get shocked 😂
The amazing part about this video this time ( Don't get me wrong. Other scenes and stories are nothing short of great ) is the fact that you guys have that old footage of Young Rob in his Blockbuster shirt, chilling, clowning around and smoking in that exact spot where you guys reminiscence that exact moment. That's pretty rad.
It's cool seeing the building that was the old blockbuster where the Game Chasers first met. We still had a blockbuster down here in the valley like 7 years ago when Jay got rid of his old shirts.
Great that the building was still there. I feel the same about the two carmike movie theaters I worked at in my hometown. Unfortunately both of those buildings are gone now
I loved going to the video store as a kid ,(51 now)my dad used to go every Sunday to get the 7 vhs for 10$….and every time he would walk out with 7 horror movies , and I loved it as I was only young but he would let me watch em all ….and every now and again dad would slip into that small side room with the fly screen streamers and the big XXX on the entrance ,I just though that’s were the good horror movies are ….oh dad you perv…..lol…cheers from 🇦🇺
Please don’t stop making these videos! Sometimes we need a break from all the TH-cam drama, and just sit back, relax, and just watch some Game Chasers.
Born in 1982 and yeah totally special time to be alive when rentals were king. Having a friend come over to spend the night for the weekend guaranteed a trip to the video store followed by ordering pizza.
The toilet paper in the trash can is a "developing" nation kinda thing where their plumbing isnt good enough to actually deal with toilet paper, or they used toilet paper that doesnt disolve in water where there from. Tons of people from mexico do that. Same with Phillipines.
Those Blockbuster memories alone made the trip worth it! Billy should've grabbed that Super Star Wars for $10. That is dead in line with what it is currently going for loose cartridge.
"It's still to this day the funnest job I've ever had" I still say that when I talk about working at Hollywood Video during high school in 2000. There is a DVD Exchange in town that used to be a Hollywood Video and they didn't change a thing on the inside. I like walking around that place every once in a while.
Zapper's RARELY do not work! ( Im pretty sure you know, it only works on CRT Tv's) but ive gone through at least 1000 zappers, and only like 10-15 haven't worked!
Oh my goodness, Slider! I had no idea it came out in the USA! So in the UK I had that game on the Amiga and it was called Skweek! I was so happy to see this.
Memories of the video store on a Fri or Sat night are some if the most nostalgic memories of my life. Really unfortunate kids these days don't get to experience it.
Loved going to Blockbuster as a kid. I think most of what I rented was SNES/Sega era, I can recall renting some NES games, and I think one of the last games I rented was FF7 for PS1.
You all should come out to “The Last Blockbuster” in Bend, Oregon. It’s just as you remember it and can rent it out for the night and watch movies. That would be a great episode.
You know it's going to be a great day when the Game Chasers drop another entertaining video! Thank you all for sharing your memories associated with physical media. 😎💯
I'm a lapsed fan of the show and haven't watched much in about 10 years. I recently remembered Jay's past job working at "hard bodies" and had to come back for more
I ran the last Blockbuster in KC and agree best job I ever had. Didn't make shit for money but would do it again no questions asked. Thanks for the memories
"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them." - Andy Bernard.... man if there was ever a use for this quote it's right here in this episode.
Funny stylish and farting power of videogame musketeers🙂 memory lane in old stuff are so nice..because they are in memory forever i remember to go rent NES-games here in Finland with my brother in Compact store..almost running to home and play many hours🙂 and arcade later named Pelikaani or Pelican..many gaming peoples and friends..contest and everything. Good stuff never go away memories..keep it guys🙂. Super show
So much nostalgia in this episode. Its such a shame there is no more "togetherness" like that anymore. Everyon is online buried in a phone. Oh what id give to go back.
My Blockbuster memories were working there my senior year in HS 2000, tail end of the VHS era, and no we never got back the 1 copy of King of New York😂
I was literally talking to someone the other day about how awesome it was to go to Blockbuster back in the day. I had some of my greatest memories with my uncle, who wasnt that much older than me, in Blockbuster. those were great times. I also still have a Blockbuster renter box and a membership card. Physical media will always be better than digital in my opinion.
I still have my Ms Pac Man on the SNES that I got from a neighbor years ago when she gave me her collection. In fact that is what started me on rebuilding a SNES collection.
the Best Tv Show not on TV

Agreed
The toilet paper thing is because in Mexico the plumbing isn't the greatest in some areas, so they throw out the tp instead of flushing it.
Totally, in Wisconsin we had migrant workers from Mexico in the warehouses and laundry, being straight from Mexico, they also did this all the time
It's like that most around the world. Kuba, Dominicans, Vietnam etc.
Its the same in some parts of Argentina.
I have heard about this also.
That was a culture shock for me too when I went to Korea. Less surprising in China. I grew up in 80s rural communist Hungary. This threw me off in 2007.
I LOVE that we're getting episodes close together again!!! Been begging for this 🤘🔥
Loved the part where you revisited the old Blockbuster, something about that first job in or just out of high school that holds a special place in your heart, the people especially
That was dope seeing the old Blockbuster location, after hearing all the stories. The irony of it being a game store is nuts 😮!
jay looks like he sleeps in a storage closet
Nah that's Dodongo
At 42 years old, and watching this. I can honestly say we were the last generation that had it really good. I'm just happy the mall I grew up going to is still thriving and is full of people of all ages every time I go there. This was an amazing episode.
I’m about to turn 42 and I agree 100%. I just feel sorry for my kids, growing up now must be very difficult, with the crazy world we live in. I guess they don’t know what they’re missing.
"So apparently, everyone's pooping" will show up in every Game Chaser's episode going forward and I'm totally cool with it.
I ain’t going to lie I am 40 and this hit home for me in a good but sad way I grew up in the video store era as well and I miss it every single day.
Traders Village was my first job. From 1992 to 1993. I cleaned those freaking bathrooms. I was also a blockbuster employee at 3:03 and North carrier. "Allright!"
" whats right with these guys "
Oil up and hit the gym with me.
Amazing episode. Almost brings a tear to my eye hearing Billy talk about physical media going away. On a positive note at least we have had an opportunity to live through the greatest decades ever and today we have a chance to preserve as much of this cool stuff as possible.
Us old guys get sentimental over buildings now. Buildings, work can be nostalgic. Thanks for the episode guys. Warm feelings.
There was no better feeling as a kid than hitting the video store on a Friday after school to find the movie or game you’d have for the weekend.
Agreed.
When I started doing that my family was going to MovieMania. Then we started going to Blockbuster. And we ended up doing Family Video by the time I hit college.
I used to bike downtown to our local video rental place on friday afternoons and pick up NES games with my grass-cutting pay to play all weekend

I was literally saying "Go back and get the choppa" when he said $2 for the party wagon. Glad to see you added that goof up at the end.
I hope you guys never stop uploading these are my comfort videos lol
Same

Thanks for another great episode!
YOOO $2 on that Turtle Van was a steal! The turtle van was my fav toy growing up
That clip of the green monster saying, "no", had me cracking up. 🤣
thats from an old 70s movies called gargoyles. good movie.
These videos got me through some rough times, you also made me start video game collecting! Thank you!!!
Glad we could help!

Sitting in the hospital over Easter with the big C has been a bummer but this is making my day so much better
Damn sorry to hear that, my dude. Hope you get better soon.
@@TheGameChasers thank you Billy, I appreciate the reply alot :)
I absolutely love that you guys took us down memory lane showing us GP and especially the Blockbuster part more of this stuff please.
I worked at BB too. Great video. Cherished memories indeed.
I was just doing a mini marathon of season 7 and 8 yesterday and now there's a new episode. Thanks Billy, Jay and Melvor the Great.
Gosh I love you guys going back to the old Blockbuster location. So great.
Dang… the Blockbuster portion of this video hit me HARD in the feels. I too worked at a Blockbuster back in the 90’s.
I love when you guys reminisce about your past, whether its this episode and another about working at Blockbuster or when visiting Dodongo’s old stomping grounds. It always hits me right in the feels.

New Game Chasers episode? Can't ask for a better gift on my birthday!
Happy Birthday 😊
Happy Birthday!!
this episode went by so fast it felt like 5 minutes; i guess time flies when you're reminiscing with old friends.
Damn it's only been a month since the last ep, normally it's a new one every ~3 months. A very welcome surprise.
Damn that Blockbuster portion hit me in my feels hard! My mom and I would go there every Friday, damn I miss her and those days. Thank you triggering a happy memory!
Went to Texas for the first time a few weeks ago. Pretty sure the ALRIIIIGHT guy is still working at Game Over.
Nothing better than seeing a new episode of Game Chasers!!! You guys are the bestest ya'll give me that warm fuzzy Christmas feeling thank you from the bottom of my soul!!! Much love God bless you guys✝️🙏

Everyone has their own nostalgia trips like this. It was great to hear yours.
The poop in the trash can is because in Mexico their sewage can't handle toilet paper. Every stall has a trash can to wipe and place the toilet paper in. I worked many years in Industrial Mexico and not tourist. Whoever was in that stall just kept doing what was natural to them.
hey mr natural at least mention that mexico uses bidets because then it makes a little more sense. as for this guy its disgusting
Another episode that brought so many nostalgia... Thank you game chaser, eventhough someday physical media is gone, we all will still had the reminiscence of it through this video of yours. Someday in the far future scentist will learn this video and learn about that poop
You guy's sparked everyone's feels with this episode!! Those are the best segments!
Loved the blockbuster throwback! My blockbuster we went to when I was a kid was the one in Arlington at Green Oaks and 360, always a good time renting movies and games!
Boy them bedazzled jeans you still rockn
Keep up the amazing work Billy! Every time a new episode is uploaded I get excited like it’s Christmas!

man the feels when you guys talked about meating 27 years ago. It's crazy how time flies by, makes me sad and happy at the same time!
one thing i wish i had in life where friends like you guys
Yall sound like Dante and Randal talking about the Quick Stop and the Video Store in Clerks. Lol love it!
Great that the building was still there. I feel the same about the two carmike movie theaters I worked at in my hometown. Unfortunately both of those buildings are gone now

I'm sure he owns a few copies of it already since it's his favorite game, better to leave it for someone else to enjoy
I'm Commander Shepard and the game chasers are my favorite channel on TH-cam
You guys should get the Blockbuster crew back together and have a sit down and tell us all the great stories.
"It's still to this day the funnest job I've ever had" I still say that when I talk about working at Hollywood Video during high school in 2000. I love the Game Chasers and watch all there videos. "What is wrong with these guys"?
A trip to the last Blockbuster in Bend Oregon is an absolute MUST for an episode 🔥
Pretty common in Europe, Asia, and Africa to have trash cans next to the toilet for that reason
That first time they literally scared him out of bed was so damn good, and Melvor's insane laughter made it 10x better somehow.
Zapper's RARELY do not work! ( Im pretty sure you know, it only works on CRT Tv's) but ive gone through at least 1000 zappers, and only like 10-15 haven't worked!
I was about to post this, and this comment was like 3 pages down.
Loved the blockbuster nostalgia... Wish I still had my blockbuster card
Loved going to Blockbuster as a kid. I think most of what I rented was SNES/Sega era, I can recall renting some NES games, and I think one of the last games I rented was FF7 for PS1.
Thank u for a new episode guys!!! such a comfort show for me while im dealing with some bs in life rn
Love when Billy closes the deal on the bag of Gameboy games for $20. Masterful!!!
in mexico they do that because the plumbing sucks. no one told them we got it covered here
You all should come out to “The Last Blockbuster” in Bend, Oregon. It’s just as you remember it and can rent it out for the night and watch movies. That would be a great episode.
Feeling those Blockbuster memories in this one. I worked at one in MN for six years. No shirts anymore, but I still have my name tag.
That Grand Prairie trip down memory lane was really nice 😊 I really associate Blockbuster with N64 too!
"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them." - Andy Bernard.... man if there was ever a use for this quote it's right here in this episode.
There was a $10 each on games theme going on at the Flea Market.
Super show
It's my day off and I got done with my yardwork. Now I get to sit down to a new Game Chasers! Nice!
you guys live in texas and have never seen the used toilet paper in the trash can before?
The golden era of game chasing is glorious, can't wait for the next blu ray 🔥🔥🔥💀🤟
So much nostalgia in this episode. Its such a shame there is no more "togetherness" like that anymore. Everyon is online buried in a phone. Oh what id give to go back.
We need more game chasers. Just to hear the stories 🤘🏼
Best part of this episode was the end! man I miss the 90s. Better times
I love this show and I’m thankful they are still at it .
My Blockbuster memories were working there my senior year in HS 2000, tail end of the VHS era, and no we never got back the 1 copy of King of New York😂
Man so true it will be a lost thing going out game hunting.keep the hunt alive while we can all enjoy this
I was literally talking to someone the other day about how awesome it was to go to Blockbuster back in the day. I had some of my greatest memories with my uncle, who wasnt that much older than me, in Blockbuster. those were great times. I also still have a Blockbuster renter box and a membership card. Great video as always. Fan for many years, always happy when there’s a new video
I still have my Ms Pac Man on the SNES that I got from a neighbor years ago when she gave me her collection.
In fact that is what started me on rebuilding a SNES collection.
Best thing to do is get food and watch a GameChasers video. As always, great Video!
