    This song is just magically beautiful. It’s so pure and romantic. Frank’s voice is just perfect in this song. The line “She’s everything on earth to me” makes me want to cry. Especially the last one with the piano slowly playing in the background. It has so much feeling and emotion out into it….

    The song a robin sings
    Through years of endless springs
    The murmur of a brook at evening tides
    That ripples through a nook where two lovers hide
    That great symphonic theme
    That's Stella by starlight
    And not a dream
    My heart and I agree
    She's everything on this earth to me

      Lucero, noche estrellada, y tu brillando entre todos los astros. Besos, caricias, tu confianza en el templo secreto de un árbol. The murmur of a brook at evening tides. That ripples through a nook where two lovers hide. 5 de marzo de 2020. She's everything on earth to me.

      he sings "eventide", not "evening tides". Eventide is an archaic form of evening; besides, it would break the perfect rhyme scheme.

    Some of Frank's best singing was before the age of hi-fi vinyl LP's (early 1950s), as illustrated by this recording of "Stella by Starlight." Listen to his unique phrasing after line-ending words like "theme" and "dream". You expect him to take a breath there, like every other singer. Instead he plunges right into the next phrase, raising the dramatic level with a seemingly inexhaustible breath-supply..Sinatra had his bad outings (few), but 90% of his recordings and live appearances were irreplaceable, unmatchable performances by America's greatest popular singer of all time (so-called "GOAT".)

    • @stevesilverman5296
      @stevesilverman5296 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jadezee6316 Good one! Frank "retired" in '71 because he knew he didn't have it any more and there were no brass rings left to corral. He made same nice enough records thereafter, Trilogy however, recorded in December of '79 and released in March of the following year, wasn't one of them. The Past, particularly The Song is You, definitely had its moments.

    • @stevesilverman5296
      @stevesilverman5296 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He retired in '71, temporarily, because he was tired and at 56 his voice was beginning to show signs of deterioration. He returned two years later with Old Blue Eyes is Back and a host of others. He maintained a pretty hectic performance schedule but his recorded output from that point until the end was curtailed dramatically. I've never heard or read of anyone anywhere suggesting that he was in his prime during that period. I'm a Fool to want You, recorded in '51 marked the beginning of the emergence of a new, more adult Sinatra. Credit Ava. The next indication of his ongoing transformation was his first Capital album arranged by Nelson Riddle, Songs for Young Lovers. Recorded in '53 & released in '54, this was arguably the first concept album ever. He was in his prime throughout the Capital years, naturally some songs, or arrangements are better than others and some days you're in better voice than others. By '61 or so his voice began to get a little deeper, darker or richer if you prefer. There was even some "gravel' intentionally tossed in at times here and there for affect. Drinking Again from '62 has some examples of this. However, by '73, there was more, some of which was not intentional.

    More evidence that it's a mistake to ignore Sinatra's early work on 78rpm records. "Stella" would become one of the most popular "movie standards" visited by the giants of modern jazz. Sinatra's voice was "good" but not necessarily superior. It's his interpretation and elocution of lyrics that bring them to life for the listener, allowing them to escape the confines of a staged production or movie theater and to take root in our consciousness. Sinatra, more than any other artist, was the seminal "creator" of that extraordinary body named "The Great American Songbook." And "Stella" is one example, supporting Bob Dylan's claim that Sinatra's is the only popular music that would endure, much like the great masters (Bach, Beethoven Brahms).. Hear his voice pour out '"that great symphonic theme."
