.... because the big clubs Schalke, Hertha, HSV, Düsseldorf, Köln and so on are too dumb to play in the 1. Bundesliga and their fans too dumb to stay at home.
funny thing, just before the milennium SSV Ulm also got to the bundesliga by getting promoted multiple times in a row. they just repeated it for the 2nd tier last time
It is funny that Münster was once in the Bundesliga. Was a founding member iirc but fell off quickly. For me though, Münster and Osnabrück just have to be in the same league, they have a big rivalry and that is just needed.
I was in RheinEnergie for see a game of Koln V Nurnberg and bro what an atmosphere, the stadium was full also there is 50K seats in the stadium and the game was intense bro I think the 2.Bundesliga is so underrated
Great video. One thing that I'd like to add is the amount of derbys that the 2. Bundesliga has this year. There some insanely cool derbys with Cologne vs Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe vs Kaiserslautern, Hannover vs Braunschweig and Nuremburg vs Fürth. Also, it also has 2 of the biggest club friendships in german football with Schalke-Nuremburg and Hertha-Karlsruhe. Some really exciting stuff happening there at the moment (and over the last couple of years already).
i personally hate the feud between Hannover and Braunschweig, coming from Hannover myself. While the revierderby always had tradition and was very gamefocussed, 99% of Hannover Braunschweig Derbys are boring games with some degenerate and criminal shit happening before and after the game. Just disgusting.
Düsseldorf activated the buy clause for tzolis and sold him with a new release clause to Brügge. It was planned to sell him. Because they couldn’t afford his salary.
As an elversberg fan, it's surreal to see one of our players in a international video. Although I don't thing we'll get promoted, I really enjoy this at the moment :)
Interesting thing about Darmstadt: They started really bad into the season but since they changed the coach they have been rising fast! Imo they have a high chance of finishing in the top 3
@@Drigallski Very debatable. He coached Bremen very successfully over a good time period, and failed at Wolfsburg who are a shit club where no coach really works and in Belgium where he doesn't speak the language and can't identify with the club... His work at Darmstadt, even just for these dozen of games has proven how he can turn a team around. Reminder that Darmstadt doesn't want to get promoted yet as it wouldn't be very good for the club.
@@RetsamX no he didnt. He was absolutely horrible at Bremen. He had exactly one good half and was singlehandedly responsible for Bremen being relegated. He was horrible at Wolfsburg as well. Why are you trying to rewrite history? Wolfsburg is also not a "shit club where no coach really works". Just look at Glasner the season before that. Of course Darmstadt wants to be promoted. Over the last couple of years they've literally been 2.Bundesliga powerhouses, and they're currently coming from the 1.Bundesliga.
The ssv Ulm, which is currently 16th in the 2 Bundesliga has also gone from 4th division to 3rd division and in their first year won the 3rd division and got to the 2 Bundesliga
Great video, as a Magdeburg fan I can tell you this season feels so weird. With the first half of the season done now, we are now the best away team (22pts, 7W 1D 1L) and also the worst home team (6pts, 0W 6D 2L). So while only losing two games at home, which is pretty okay, obviously the zero wins drag us down quite a bit. Our first home match in the new year is again our friends from Eintracht Braunschweig, who are currently the 2nd worst away team, so if we don't win that game I might start to believe in your 'Avnet-Arena' curse^^ but anyways, this season is still amazing for us. We have 28pts after the first half of the season, which means it's our best season in 2. Bundesliga yet and we had some great away day experiences (I was lucky enough to be there for almost all of them).
My favourite leagues in Germany are the 2. Bundesliga because of all the great traditional clubs.. and the 3.Liga because there's no VAR which is great for "old-school" fans like me..
Hamburg actually went up from 8th to 3rd in the last two games, so yeah, it can really go quickly in this league. Had we won both games, we would even be 2nd
8:50 as an example Ko Itakura was on loan at Schalke and they couldn't afford him so Borussia Mönchengladbach took the chance and signed him the next season.
As a Fan of the team currently (and probably staying) in last. We lost a player last year and it’s a wonder that we even still went up. I am so proud to be in this league at a time like this where SO many important players are
Love the second division.... always have. Especially with Clubs like Hertha BSC, Hamburger SV, Hannover 96, 1FC Köln, FC Schalke 04....these all have incredible Fans....some have modern Stadiums, the pricing is fair and talent van develop...
It's like this for a couple of years already. The 2.BL often has the potential to be wide open with only 2 games left to go and half the table could still make it to promotion. Pretty much the same applies for relegation down. Almost nobody is safe and could end up anywhere on the table. If you'd bet on that stuff, you'll probably lose your mind.
Our Bundesliga is most probably not the most interesting league in the world, especially in comparison to the Premier League BUT our 2. Bundesliga is BY FAR the best second league in the world. There is basically zero interest in the Spanish second league, the same with Serie B or French second league. Our stadiums are FULL and there are a lot of big traditional clubs like Nürnberg, Schalke, Hertha, HSV and so on.
There is even an awesome story abour Hürzeler you missed. Two seasons ago he was the assistent coach of Sankt Pauli, as he came in position as coach he truely went crazy, won the league. I am sure you know the story. Now hes doing quite good in Brighton. So he went within about 1,5 years from assistant coach in the 2. Bundesliga to top coach in the PL. I love our second division! Sonn our players and coaches won´t leave for PL or first division anymore, they´ll start their own thing :D last season there was one matchday, I belive for the first time in history (afaik), with more fans showing up in the 2. Liga arenas than in our first division.
hmmmmm.... why are there sooo few players in the 2. Buindesliga wich are able to play the ball om the expected direction? The 2. Bundesliga is "interesting" because nearly all teams are equally bad. That reminds me of the origin and sense of "Made in Germany".

Higher attendences, but doubtful more fans since Real & Barca have fans all over the world.

It's not that rare for clubs to go through the 3rd division in one season. I can think of at least 5 clubs who did it.
2. Bundesliga is definitly the best and most interesting 2nd division in professional European football.

Heidenheim is in the table 16th but they are playing chelsea in the conferance league. Crazy...
Triple pressure is rough for small teams especially when it's only their second season in the top league
