FYI, Bestie is collaboration with Mike Einzinger of Incubus, who wrote the riffs and Band-Maid basically took it from there. The two bands met at last year's St. Louis Pointfest and decided to do this, and in fact Incubus is touring in Japan now and a few days ago they played on the same bill. Mike came on stage during Band-Maid's set and they played Bestie together.
This is such a beautiful and sweet melody and video. If this is what heaven looks and sounds like, I need to be much nicer. All the Maids look like angels dressed in white, especially Kanami with her gossamer lace "wings". She takes us soaring into heaven with her solo. This song is RAPIDLY becoming one of my favorite Band-Maid songs. I know it's going to become an earworm that I'll never get out of my head. Yes, it's a departure from their hard rock sound, Great bands have that diversity in their music.
I am an old Japanese male (67), in fact, I, at my 14 or 15 age, sterted listening Rock music with American folk(country) rock, such as "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young"(LP title "Deja Vu"), and this song "Bestie" reminded me of olddays good American nostalgic sound. Therefore I listend to "INCUBUS", and understand and feel very good in my mind. BANDMAID and INCUBUS are not Poppy music, they are good olddays American Folk Rock sound, neither anime sound nor movie sound! Neil Youg's "OHIO", Carol King "Tapestry"(You've got a friend) and so on. Anyway, nostalgic and middle tempo's good sound.
I like the sound of the music and I love the intro riff and Kanami's solo. It's awesome that she ends the solo with chordage instead of the usual high-speed notes. I'm not a huge fan of white usually but I do like their outfits, most esp. Miku and Kanami. (do I miss Gothic Mistress Saiki, yes I do!) The one thing I have a little trouble with is the lyrics, they're just too excessively sentimental and plain to be my cup of tea. (I'm so sorry Miku!!!!!!!!! You know that I think you're one of the most brilliant and awesome people on the planet and that you must be protected at all costs (and that I normally love your lyrics))!!! Also, I really hope they're not trying to send us a message with how the video ended with them disappearing and those rays shining through the set.
[Bestie, co-written by Michael Einziger of Incubus.] MISA's playing and bass tone are setting new standards... and Akane's drumming is so in-the-pocket and distinguishable... and Kanami's solo is Daydreaming masterful! The recording and mix are as enjoyable as the song and beautiful MV! Miku, Saiki and Mikey-chan's English lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Band-Maid a band of fashion-forward, trend-setting Besties? 💞 Thx, Mikey & Band-Maid!
Don't worry, Mercy, The white costumes are for the collab vid only, BAND-MAID already have their blacker battle dress for their 2024 tour & they're not going to ditch them yet....🤔 Come to think of it white doesn't look as good on me as the new costumes anyway.😏
I bet we see the Maids mix it up more this year. Which means we have to mix it up more, too. So let's try three ounces of tequila in our margies instead of the usual two. 🥴🍹
Maximum The Hormone is a MUST band you have to check out. They are "something, something Metal", and the reason why I say that is that they are chaotic and they genre hop. Their female drummer Nao is a HUGE influence on not only Akane (Band-Maid) and Tamu (Nemophila), but a whole host of female drummers in Japan. Nao is truly a pioneer. Start with "Yoshū Fukushū" th-cam.com/video/beN5ep5MrdY/w-d-xo.html All I can say about "MTH" is that if they were more prolific, they would be my No.1 Japanese band rather then my No.2........(Band-Maid are my No.1).
This was a collab with Mike Einziger from Incubus, so you called it wirh the late 90s vibes. "Movie rock", I like it! AND HELLO? Did you not notice, no Maids? Band Angel!😅 Ok, so Love Bites will be #4 off of my essential Top 5 J-rock groups (yay!🤘) I already know how you feel about my #5, but what about a collab? Bring Me the Horizon featuring Babymetal - Kingslayer (offcial live from Japan) I think you'll appreciate the contrast. Besides, eventually, YOU WILL JOIN OUR CULT!😡 I mean fandom! I totally meant fandom!😅😇🫶🙏

@@TomClark-Futoura Lol. I'm good with that, Tom, we'll call it a "Tethreela".😁🥃🥃🥃
@rogerchance9074 The Maids have that effect on people. Apparently even the Devil smiles when he sees Kanami doing her soaring airplane run :)
@rogerchance9074 A non shout out day is like your kryptonite.😂
