Wow. Very impressive! I’ve been humming and hawing around the Iki, but these last few test runs you’ve put her through have convinced me she’s definitely worth a purchase. Displaying the complete fit AND implants/boosters, coupled with subtle informative text pop ups (that stay on screen for a very reasonable time!) is THE way to showcase these types of vids, great job, well done, immediate Sub and Like. (Really like your choice of music btw, makes SUCH a welcome change from either brutal thrash metal or chintzy Euro pop)
Thanks. Good luck with the fit. You will want to do a lot of practice on the test server before investing on live. The clock will be your biggest enemy and it helps to know where you can burn/gain time.
Thanks. I don't have any PvP content in the works at the moment due to limited playtime. That's why my video release schedule can be sporadic. My next ESS video will probably highlight the fun I have across a few setups though. That said, I can speak a little to the Iki and Drek here. For the former, the best way to look at it is a Vedmak with better cap, fitting, and tank but worse mobility. Damage wise it's just a Vedmak that keeps ramping past ~90 seconds. A fight that is lasting past 90 seconds is quite a slugfest. With the extra fitting you can go with a better battery combo in the mids and forego the booster. It also leaves room for more neutralizers and a SB in the highs. The rest though I would fit similar to my Vedmak because I enjoy the playstyle. Final thing about the Iki - it doesn't look as engageable and can draw responses similar to what a Marauder will get. For the same cost I can fly two Vedmaks in more aggressive/risky scenarios and probably get better fights. Here's my last Iki PvP lossmail: zkillboard.com/kill/88715936/ For the Drek, I fit it similarly to my Vedmak because of how much I enjoy the ESS setting for solo. You'll emphasize speed with the 10mn to produce a ship that isn't as quick as the Vedmak but is way more agile than people expect. If you want some of the benefits of the Iki without the pricetag then the Drek is honestly a great middle ground. This is my ESS Drek version: zkillboard.com/kill/88600028/. Last up, and if you're still here after the wall of text, the Drek can be flown as a really fun traditional solo roaming nullboat. Here's the fit I enjoyed: zkillboard.com/kill/79850234/. I like taking larger ships and emphasizing warp speed and agility. They are made for hit and run and forego the crazy brick tanking you can do on them. It doesn't make for great Eve videos but you can do a lot of damage in the setups. A while back I did produce a video about this playstyle for one of Suitonia's contests found here: th-cam.com/video/whNOTw6cLlw/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for the feedback and see you out there!
@@CaldariJoans Thank you for your very detailed response! I apologize for the late response, I never saw the notification from youtube. Yeah, I just finished making several ikitursa's and have them fit almost identical to yours. I have been more recently leaning towards the drekavac though, I love it. I have your ESS vedmak's all fitted and love them so i'll definitely try out your drekavac ESS fit and the roamer. Really appreciate your detailed response and fitting examples brotha!
Obviously with the removal of the MWD bonus to HACs this fit does not perform as well as it did, however, how well do you think that taking the concept to a T5 AB iki would go?
The MWD change definitely tabled the MWD Iki for T6. Even in T5 you could have some spooky rooms with only an MWD. For lower tiers I'd just run a dual prop version similar to my previous MWD setup. Once I went back to the fit though I looked for other ways to save time while being forced into using an AB. This version won't have as many sub-10 minute runs but is the stronger of the 2 from my experience.
Really cool vid! As Ikis are really expensive and requires lots of skills, is it possible to do lower tier abyssals with a vedmak? Or just train the skills up and get a iki instead?
I tested this out but there are two problems: the Vedmak's lower cap, fitting, and tank require you to put enough isk into it that it just becomes a cheap Iki. This was even before Vedmaks went up in cost. The other problem is lower tiers mean less chance at 70% weathers. This means our SB tactic weakens making our best rooms only good while our worst rooms don't really improve at all. The star of the show is the SB. The Trig gun will have below average DPS for all but the largest ships.
IMO after having tried this I feel that fighting against the clock continuously is pretty draining. Lucid, Lucifer and Devoted waves are less than ideal in this fit and almost anything in 50% weather gets a lot harder. I feel that running T4/T5 firestorms in the Iki is much more profitable because you can grab the nodes too. In this one barely remembers to get the cache. Granted, it's fun in drone rooms, Trig balls and Ephialtes rooms.. but you've got the Stormbringer for that :) Also works in Darks (just not T6, haha). My ideal optimisation of this fit is to run with a web, ADC (due to ganker risk) and 2x abyssal sinks instead of 3x and just run T5 Darks instead. Having better application makes a huge difference IMO, Lucid spawns are a nightmare to deal with.

Love your videos man, could you make an ikitursa pvp fit breakdown video just like you did the vedmak? and maybe one for the drekavac also ?
