I bought this CD in 2001 at a show in Dayton. I didn't know who they were. They put on an amazing show. I never thought they would make it big in the mainstream though. I'm glad I was proven wrong.
im now 36, grew up listening to ADITL aka hawthrone heights. Had this CD when I was 16 or 17 and listened to it many times since then, especially during times of heartbreak
To me, this album is peak early 2000s emocore. It came out before Hawthorne Heights was formed and they shifted to a more post hardcore angle with their sound. But this would definitely be something you'd listen to along with Saves the Day or Dashboard Confessional. Still flawless, still worth listening to even 20 years later.
When I go to a Hawthorne Heights concert in a few days, if I get the opportunity to meet JT Woodruff again (I met him once at the Emo Orchestra late last year) I'm going to quietly sing Control Alt Delete on my way over there and see if he notices, haha. He might not.
I would upload that EP but I only have 5 of the songs so it’s incomplete, I sadly can’t find the other song (it’s called “mean machine”) anywhere on the internet
@@chasewasnothere could you just post it? Not trying to be rude but I've been craving that plus I thought that was on the "Four bullets for one girl" demo
@@chasewasnothere also, can we download this? I downloaded their "From Ohio with love" EP and had a friend convert then post it on Spotify, I can link it to you if you wish
An update on my last comment: I forgot to sing it while walking up to him, but I remembered as soon as I got up to him, and told him "I was supposed to sing Control Alt Delete by A Day In The Life on my way over here but I forgot to!" and he was like "ohh, that's okay!" Anyways, I drew something for him. Colored it too. Gave him a copy and had him sign the original. He loved it so much that, in return, he gave me the guitar pick he used for the concert that night, SIGNED. I will forever treasure this pick. And I also got a signature from all 4 band members on some vintage Hawthorne Heights valentines day cards. Aaand I played rock paper scissors with JT. And won. So cool. Anyways, yeah that was awesome.
One thing I noticed about this is that the vocals are doubled on every word, and they are dissonant enough to not sound that good. Also if you listen to the reissue of Hawthorne heights Silence in Black and White there are demos of a few of the songs that have the exact same thing going on with the vocal production. So I wonder if they recorded this and the Hawthorne heights demo with the same person.
I'm in central Indiana here can anyone tell me if A Day in The Life performed at Carmel fest years ago?! I feel like I have this core memory that I can't verify and it's driving me crazy!
@@chasewasnothere damn, I wonder what happened with the other guitarists after Micah and Casey joined and how did you find that out? Do you have a hard copy of this album? If so did it have a pamphlet or even a sleeve for the CD case? And do you have anything of the second album "From Ohio with love"

It's wild how I could never find this album in 2007 and it took until 2020 to finally get it

Have you also seen talking about "Paper Chromatography: The Fade From Dark To Light", their 2003 ep that has 6 songs? this is too rare!
