Definately need better than MPSS as they struggled for grip even when a boost leak meant engine was only seeing 2.3bar.
Mad props to the driver of the GTR he handled that spin like a serious OG!
He was even I automatic mode.. all he had to do was keep it straight

There’s quite a few GT-R’s in the states making 1600+ hp, it really depends on the tuning and the driver. At 1600hp if it hooks correctly should trap low 9’s high 8’s. You can reference CarWow drag races to get a more accurate handle of a 1600hp tuned GT-R, you’ll notice how Matt handles the beast.

Has the advantage due to the engine over the tip of the rear wheels. Why it launches so good. I can only imagine what it would be like on drag radials.

But remember there are many GT-Rs in the 6s and no Porsches in the 6s. The quickest Porsche is in the 7s.
@@ytsux9259 True, but that has a reason. it's not because a Porsche can't, lets be honest here. It's just much cheaper to get a GTR completely stripped and prepped than to strip and prep a similar horsepower Porsche.

In the world of modified imports, only the 2JZ Supras and GT-Rs are the kings and queens of all imports and hold many world records in every category.

That 911 just looks like insanity, listening to that cut-out between gears is crazy. It's amazing that the GTR gave it a run. However, I'd like to give credit to the GTR's ability to start realing in the 911 at the end of the 1/3 roll. Great race.🤙🏼

Because it has good tires fitted in. Grip is the first thing to consider for a race like this... The GT-R was on poor street tires and low boost, not fair at all. On good tires or at least full boost it would have been another story... Ricky's GT-R (despite not being the fastest GT-R, far from it) would destroy that ES tuned 911 easily, his time on the 1/4 mile is much faster.

1st thing first: I’m glad nothing happened to pops and mad respect to him for handling it like a professional.
2nd: I think you should have switched drivers and let someone else drive the GTR, not because pops can’t handle it but because after an incident like that, your heart starts racing and you’re no longer calm which is the proper state of mind to be in when driving at such high speed.
3rd: Let’s see that tuned Porsche against the Tesla Plaid.

His hands are 10 and 2 o’clock… You can drive a minivan like that but not a gtr with over 1500 hp.
The Tesla Plaid wouldnt win here, their top speeds on latest models are still only 178mph, where these were getting to 200mph on these strips, it might take off faster, but i even doubt that, would be good to watch maybe
That gtr was delayed a car distance while launching and if you noticed it was actually right behind and lost with same one car distance so it was fair race but should have given gtr to someone more quick in response to launch but it was Gud to see two legendary cars next to one another
That pop drove the GTR like 7 yrs old, he should just sit near the race. The should switch the driver or let's other take that pop place.
Tesla plaid can never go 1/4 mile 9 second.
It doesn't matter how much power you've got if you can not put it down on launch.

Exactly. I've never seen a GT-R struggling like that before, grip clearly depend on the tires first. GT-R usually deliver the power smoothly and way better than that. Something wrong with it and even with that the 911 didn't easily win. The GT-R is clearly superior but kudos to both of them.
@RetroPCTech Nissan always update the GT-R, even if it's minor, it's called ''Kaizen''. The difference between a 2009 GT-R and 2018 alone is phenomenal. Let alone the Nismo version. The very first non updated 2013 Nismo already did 7: 08 in the Nurburgring wich is still 90% faster than a lot of supercars+. And the 2020 Nismo is much faster and can easily do a sub 7 and the 2022 a mid 6min. If the GT-R were a lot lighter, it wouldn't have performed so well. Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan and a lot of others clearly explained it. And to be honest, it is not heavy compared to many other competitor or other car of today. Still has that true driving pleasure, hydraulic steering etc... Even the latest Porsche don't have this anymore. I agree that AMS 16 GT-R would smoke both of them, this is not even a question.

Even with the "wrong end", but still more stable. Look as the ease of the launch on the 911. That 911 chassis is a work of engineering art. 💕 smile on the driver says it all.
A US thing, a holdover of ours that Porche wanted to discard in favor of mid engine layout. In the end, pun, the launch control system is simply amazing. Would have enjoyed both on the same brand and model of tires.

@@chrismortimer7768 Are you slow ? His GT-R can also do 8.9s on the street while being in low boost so 1400 HP. With weight difference it's fair. GTR can do 6s pass. No 911 is ever gonna achieve that. Some 9FF Porsche's have 2000 HP and are slower than AMS GT-Rs with less power. So no excuse here.

Both of those cars are ridiculous but the Porsche had street slicks in the back and the GTR didn’t and as you could tell, he was spinning the entire time even from the 50 roll. I think at the very least, the tire setup has to be similar for the race to be fair.

I always wonder why people take the wings off the back of GTR's as it must be causing quite a bit of lift at the rear without it, it was designed to work at 200mph so no real reason to remove it and i doubt at those power levels you would notice the extra drag all that much.
Not saying that caused the spin as having 1600bhp is going to be a handful no matter what lol.

That is some well balanced package of tuning on porsche. Did put all of its power to ground. GTR needs to balance things because you can see once it starts gaining traction it was closing the gap slightly in pull race.

I’m a GTR guy. First of all, that Porche was tuned and balanced really well. You could tell it handled and drove smoothly at top speed. Kudos to the Porche mechanics and driver for their excellent work.
The GTR, on the other hand was not tuned and balanced at its best. It was obvious the GTR driver struggled to keep it inline in all races.

What did we learn? That those R888’s made the biggest difference for this race. I bet it would of been a different story, then again someone came prepared and someone didn’t. Great race!

That 911 is Light, it's like 2000 lb's plus the AWD.. And I love the GTR trust me, I was my Dream car for years..
Protip: Hands don't go at 10 & 2. The GT-R's kerfuffle is a great example of how holding the wheel above or below the pivot point is a great way to lose control of the car when sliding.
