As I was watching I was thinking a boarder around the shelf to stop the dust collector from rolling off. But what you did works great. I need to do something like this for the hot tub motor vacuum we built when you visited. It is top heavy. Looking at this same idea but cutting a circle out so the 5 gallon bucket fits in. Great Job and video.
I would suggest you reverse your stack. Put the Ridgid on top and the separator below. Cut a hole in the bottom of the shop vac and seal the hole in the side. This way you can run a very short hose from the vac directly to the separator .. with no kinks or sharp angles. Much better flow. I own a Ridgid with a plastic base and the increase in performance with the reverse setup is so much better. Bonus - if I forget empty the bucket and the chip starts to overflow into the shop vac .. once you turn it off some of the overflow drop back down into the separator.
Good evening, I just viewed your presentation re. alternate dust collection system, I found it of interest to me for my application. I went to the Rockler site to acquire the dust drive converter item, but was unable to find it on site. Are you able to give me guidance as to where I might find this item. Ted
You are the Marie Kondo of tools. Great idea.
Well, I had to look up Marie Kondo. I’m flattered!! Thank you!
