Situated in Hunan province, Fenghuang Ancient Town is one of the most famous old towns in China.
You can appreciate the antique flavor of this 300-year old town, feel the rich culture of the 28 minority ethnic groups, and explore the remaining traces of the famous historical figures and great writers.

Why Visit Fenghuang Ancient Town?

Located in the southwest of Tujia-miao Autonomous Prefecture of Xiangxi in Hunan province, Fenghuang Ancient Town or Phoenix Ancient Town is reputed as “the most beautiful town in China” and “Town in a Picture”.
Built in 1704, this old town was given the title of the “National AAAA Tourist Attraction” for its charming scenery of multiple ancient sites of towers, brides, streets, and other buildings as well as the rich culture of Miao, Tujia and other 26 minority ethnic groups.
You may be attracted by the simple but charming customs which are written in The Border Town to come to visit the place. But once you get here, you will find her charm is not limited to this. You can stroll on the bluestone paved lanes after the rain; take a boat to cruise on the Tuojiang River and appreciate the 100-year-old stilted building; climb on the ancient gate towers of the city and feel all the vicissitudes of the ancient city; watch the old woman washing clothes on the river banks calmly; or sit alone near the window in a coffee bar silently enjoying the exquisite scenery and letting your thoughts drift...... These may be the secrets of the charms of the ancient town.
It used to be a gathering place for politicians, warlords, chieftains, Miao minorities and bandits, which can be considered as a standard barbarian place.
Visiting this about 10 square kilometers wide ancient town, you will love it immediately and discover the mystery of its profound culture.
The ancient town of Fenghuang also means the Phoenix Town in China; it was described as the most beautiful town in China by the Zelanian writer Louis Aileen. The town is the only path between Huahua, Jishou (Hunan province) and Tongren (Guizhou province) and a must-visit place to enjoy the real amorous feelings of the west part of Hunan province.
The town is very small with only a main street; however, it is a green corridor and charming place. It is located on the river bank of Tuojiang River (Tuojiang, 沱江), the small town was once the rallying point for politicos, warlords, bandits, and the local Miao minority people, we should say it was once a standard "barbarian" land.

Ranking as the top ancient town in China, Fenghuang Ancient Town is a guidebook for people to know the past life in the pre-modernization period.
The wooden houses and stone roads are the typical scenes here. When sightseeing in this town in a misty day, you will really find why it is so famous and popular all the time. The scenery after rain or in the misty morning is more like a Chinese traditional painting rather than a real world.

Fenghuang Ancient Town, aka Phoenix Ancient Town and Feng Huang Gu Cheng in Chinese, is situated on the western boundary of Hunan Province in an area of outstanding natural beauty where mountains, water and blue skies prevail. 'Fenghuang' is Chinese for 'Phoenix', the mythical bird of good omen and longevity that is consumed by fire to be re-born again from the flames.
Fenghuang Ancient Town is so called as legend has it that two of these fabulous birds flew over it and found the Fenghuang Town so beautiful that they hovered there, reluctant to leave.

Most of all l love their dramas too, especially the ancient ones about China’s history, the Dynasties...about Fenghuang has been made a family movie in 3 parts by a Chinese Film Director, when l remember well, which l saw a few years ago in Melbourne at the International Film Festival. It was an awesome family saga, and they showed lots of the town too.

今回の動画の街も、非常に美しいですね。一度でいいから、行ってみたくなりました（笑）。
観光客も含めさまざまな人たちで街がにぎわっており、特に夜は一掃賑やかに見えました。
また、ライトアップもきれいで美しかったです。
変わって、朝のシーンでは夜とはうって変わって街が静まり返って、住宅や店舗、寺院などの建物、周りの木々や川、遠くの山なみが、まるで絵に描いたように美しく見えました。
よって、この街は朝や昼間と夜の美しさがそれぞれ違うということが、良く分かりました。
終盤の磁気浮上式鉄道ですが、車内の内装はほぼすべてピンクであり、まるで”お姫様の部屋”にいるような感じでした。
また、最新の技術を取り入れており、これから未来の交通機関という感じでした。
その他、途中のトンネルでは光を組み合わせてタイムトンネルを演出していたのも、本当に良い発想でした。
この磁気浮上式鉄道は、単なる地域の重要な交通機関だけではなく、もしかするとこの街の現在・過去・未来の３つの時間を結んでいるのかもしれません（笑）。
最近、御チャンネルの動画ではあまり知られていない中国の小さくて個性的で美しい村や町のウォーキングをアップしており、これを見て私は中国にもこんなに美しい場所があったんだなと知ることができました。

They usually have more traditional style and less stress than big city.

Here is Fenghuang County, located in Sichuan Province, which is a popular tourist destination. Many residential houses have been converted into private inns, bars, and shops. The majority of the indigenous population here are Miao, also known as Hmong, and they like to wear silver jewelry. When I visited here before, there was no bridge, and we had to cross the river by stepping on stone piers. XD

Thank you for your excellent videos! I have noticed in many walking tour videos of Chinese cities, on several channels, there is very little narration or commentary from the creator. While there are times that I would like some information about the sites visited, but on the whole, I prefer your style, where the only sounds come from passersby and nature. The one exception to this are videos on a channel that I just discovered; it is produced by a charming young woman who makes relatively short videos that are very enjoyable. She does talk about the sights she sees, but does not yammer on and on. Too many videos produced in the USA and Europe have narrators who chatter incessantly. So, once again, thank you for your excellent videos!

Its almost 8 years ago since i last visit this place. At that time there were ongoing road construction n was rather messy. Somehow rather i love this place. I alreday watched 1 and a half hour... half way in. Now i go for another round for the night while eating a little.
Watching your videos is like watching movies XD, even if it's super long, i still want to watch what will come next.
There is soo many things already :O, the "fake?" pigeon and dove at the beginning (i m not sure if theyare fake or real... you pass them pretty fast but they didnt moved, yet they look super real). And the fluffy dog spying you from the stairs mad me laugh so much XD.
At the question, i think it depend on the mood of the person...
Someone with a mood for play and fun will love the night, because it's all animated, many people, karaoke and all.
But someone with a mood for relaxing will prefer the day, it's more calm, not much people, less noises and stress.
So many things, i can't comment everything XD.
Now, hop! i go look at the rest of the video :P. Thank you for this long video, it's really cool and took me 2 and a half days to watch HAHAHA XD
Finally finished :D loved every part of it. This place must be amazing during festival, maybe something like the dragon boat festival (with boats along the river and all during the night :O, that must be crazy.)
