Rudeus is the definition of "Two steps forward, one step back." But because of that, it kind of makes you want to cheer him on. Now, with the second season, I gotta say, he really develops into someone better. It's lowkey satisfying to see.

The best pice of Japanese fantasy? That's an overstatement if I ever seen one. But I woud say it's the best Isekai or even the best light novel series I've ever read.
It's certainly well ranked as a former web novel, but it doesn't come even remotely close to the best Japanese fantasy novels. Compared to something like Guin Saga, which is arguably the founding work of Japanese traditional fantasy(being the influence for works the likes of Berserk) and having sold over 30 million volumes, it's hardly a even in the same contest.

17:10 Well, Philip was standing guard at Paul's 10th birth day when he was having his first time with a noble girl in an empty room at his father's mansion. And he sees Rudeus very much as Paul's son. Morals of the Asuran nobility are _different_
What’s really interesting is that Rudy is seen as some genius kid who knows how to do everything even in the worst situation. But deep down, we all know he’s only putting up a facade and has his own internal struggles. I think this added touch makes him really relatable for a lot of people.
