    Those quick turn brackets are designed to be used with two rollers and yours are upside down or backwards. While they may kind of work the way you have them they are not installed correctly.

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I guess you don’t understand what’s going on with the door. If you were to use 2 rollers. It wouldn’t allow the hinge to pivot and close upon itself.

      I'm having a problem of the top panel hitting the spring

  • @mattsivert2594
    @mattsivert2594 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So they want you to put the brackets that came with the door 3 and 1/4 inches down you think I could just move those brackets up so that it goes into the curve a lot quicker? Or would that cause door bind?

  • @DW_Kiwi
    @DW_Kiwi ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't get me wrong. The use of Super Sneakys or your quick turn brackets are a great idea to solve a low headroom problem However, it can cause another problem.
    That is, a small obstruction (child leg) under the door will maybe cause the opener to not reverse reliably.
    The top section panel (with the brackets installed) now has the "downward" back pressure very much reduced from the opener. The opener "pressure" or force is now mostly horizontal, folding the hinge up to close the top section. There is a area where the opener may not sense an obstruction correctly.
    Because the opener needs to sense the vertical back pressure from an obstruction the safety aspect of the opener is contravened. Beware.
    Blessings from New Zealand

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point, but the force meter works in tandem with the beam sensor that goes across the bottom of the doors. Once an object breaks the beam the door automatically retracts.

    • @DW_Kiwi
      @DW_Kiwi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StreetersGarage Fine. Good point, but the newer sectional doors do not have this added feature

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Huh? That’s part of the garage door opener and not the door.

  • @johnsnarr3469
    @johnsnarr3469 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am implementing this solution. It is a great idea! Is it necessary to modify the L-shaped opener arm that hangs from the rail? I noticed that yours looks modified. Thanks.

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Forgot about that. It is modified but not really. The openers came with some aluminum drop links to extend the arm.
      I never had a use for them until I did this with the doors and in the meantime. I had tossed the drop links in the trash about 15 years ago.
      So I had to make new drop links from angle iron to extend the arm.

  • @patrickslatin9294
    @patrickslatin9294 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think these are mounted upside down. They extend way above the door which kind of defeats the purpose of low clearance hinges. The other problem with these is that they limit the travel of the door at the top end. IE the length of the hinges stops the door from opening all the way.

  • @karenboucher7507
    @karenboucher7507 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rollers and hinges would still functions the same

  • @novaapw
    @novaapw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just did these on a door yesterday. Having an issue where the springs are resisting the door going all the way down because the opener gets past the point where it's pushing the door down, even with the springs backed off so much that they are hanging way down when the door is up. Tried releasing the springs totally and the opener can't open the door. We don't have the lifting arm altered in any way and I believe we have it in the second hole down from the top of the door. Will altering the arm as you have it solve this?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The top panel should lie down on its own. The springs are attached to the bottom panel of the door and would have no effect on it.

  • @KayratM
    @KayratM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you maintain sealing around top part of the door?
    I have Quick Turn Hinges but they leave top part of the door tilted, which creates a gap.

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They make and sell a trim piece that has a rubber/vinyl gasket attached too it. Once the door is set against the opening, you attach the trim to the opening to seal it up.
      Available at Home Depot / Lowe’s.
