    That looks fantastic! Makes me want to get my 2003 Grizzly out of the shed. Can't beat Yamaha.

    Great work! I'm fixing up a '96 Kodiak just like that one. What you can do for for the plastics is take a high speed polisher and a wool pad and carefully polish the surface. Mothers mag and aluminum polish works well. Once you get the hang of the right speed and pressure you can bring an unbelievable shine out of the old plastics.

      I definitely have some experience with a high speed buffing wheel. You're right, it works wonders on plastics.

    I know it's been a year or so and you probably already figured it out by now. But that solenoid that was mounted to the side of the toolbox is for the Warn winch that originally came on the bike. Well, they didn't come on the bike from the factory, but when you bought a Yamaha ATV back in the late 90's you got a Warn winch with it and the dealership installed it. I use to work at a Yamaha dealership back in the 90's, and one of my jobs was to uncrate and put together the ATV's, watercrafts, and mount outboard motors on boats. Anyway, where that solenoid of yours is mounted is where we mounted ours. Oh, and I hear ya on when you buy an OEM part like your muffler and the manufacturer can't even supply the bolt for the front flange. That kind of stuff really gets under my skin also. Great job on the old girl. She will be around for another 25 years and then some!!

      @ProjectTimeGarage Just found your channel and I absolutely love this vid!! Recently bought an 05 Kodiak with 1034 original miles!! Garage kept and overall excellent condition. I have this exact same quad with 4k miles on it. Shes a tank! I have pulled full sized cars around the property with it. Unfortunately shes super tired now...smokes and shifts like junk. I'll rebuild her tho. Better than anything you can buy today.

    Came out awesome! I’d like to formally request a video on what looks to be a ‘73 Challenger I’m always drooling over in the background! My all time dream car is a 1970.

    I always keep a running score of what I am breaking while I am fixing. My 2004 Kodiak is indestructible, but battle scarred.

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm afraid to keep score of what all I break - too depressing.

      I just purchased a 1995 front end is toast and swingarm bearings gone.

    • @jsmcguireIII
      @jsmcguireIII 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gregoryjones6714 replaced those and had to straighten the tie rods and replace those bushings too. Make sure all the rubber boots aren't torn or the ujoints and CV's will fail. One swingarm mount was cracked and I welded a plate on that spot. ALL GOOD!

    Nice job! I have a 1995 same model 400. These older machines are built so much better than newer ones. I have worked as a tech/mechanic for CanAm and Yamaha and definitely see the difference from the new ones. And the complicated systems they put on them are totally wrong for the application.

      I agree 100% Way too complex for what they are.
