Adriana Arrriba That would be fine if a tomato and other fruits and veggies were less expensive than a cheeseburger with tomato on it. Not everyone can afford to eat healthy, so many have to resort to fast food and unhealthier options simply due to affordability - thanks in part to our government granting subsidies to the huge conglomerates responsible for producing food. The problem is less the people spending money on health and medicine and more the government's spending on corporations that produce unhealthy products, so that companies can sell those products dirt cheap to those who can't afford to eat better.
I'll agree that a large part of the problem is a person's habit structure, but I think more people would be willing to cook and eat healthier if the government and food corporations made it easy to do so.

Carbs are 4 cals per gram
Proteins are 4 cals per gram
Fats are 9 cals per gram
This goes for nearly everything, once you remove water weight. So the oil and granola are easy to guess, since there's minimal water.
Granola is primarily carbs and a bit of protein... so 100 cals /4 is 25g
Oil is fat, so 100 cals /9 is around 11g
Alcohol sugars are a bit different, at 7 cals per gram...
Not only that, alcohol sugars will spike insulin like crazy. Then, while insulin levels are elevated, any fats you eat are more likely to be deposited in your organs and visceral fat... which leads to a beer belly, even if you're skinny elsewhere.
This means I'll just eat strawberries with everything.

HCLF vegans is high carbs and low amounts of fat, so they eat verrrrryyyyy little amounts of oils (if any) because of the high fat content.
Calories in and calories out is how weight loss works, but really if you just eat healthy and the correct portions you don't necessarily need to count calories.
