Thank you so much for the complete detail how to change sconces lights. Was able to complete without too much problems. Almost 80 and completed by myself.
This is the best DIY video I have ever watched. I'm not handy but after listening to these simple, concise instructions, even I feel like I can change out my light fixture. Thank you for explaining this so well!
Hey great video.... I'm installing 3 exterior fixtures in my backyard, I looked for this type of video for a "refresher", it's been about 10 years since I've done one and you were fantastic, exactly as I planned. Thanks so much for these simple around the home project videos, comes in handy.
Thanks so much for such an explicit step by step Video instructions! It helped a lot, especially the tip to save the old screws due to a size difference because that’s exactly what I had to do! I appreciate your help in allowing me to do this myself! The only extra tip that no videos or written instructions in the light box itself included was to adjust the back screw that holds the screw caps to secure the fixture to the wall/box to be long enough just to accommodate the washer and screw cap. I had to learn the hard way after wiring everything and securing to the wall only to have too much space/slack to tighten it tight against the wall. That’s it, no big deal just more time, which it started to rain so I had to hurry! Thanks again, Christine
Loved your video! It's been decades since I've changed out a fixture, so before I remove the old fixture, can you please tell me if the round bracket that attaches the fixture to the wall is standard/adjustable so that the new fixture will install easily? The lamps I'm planning to get are about the size of the one in your video. Thank you!!
Man, thank you so much! This is exactly the same type of light fixture I recently bought and it was super helpful to see someone installing the same kind. I appreciate the helpful tips along the way. Thanks!
Question! We used your video to help us replace our old sconce in our basement. The only real difference was our wiring was old bob and tube so we didn’t have a wire for the copper ground wire. Our electrician said that would be fine. We connected the other two and when we switched on the breaker it still didn’t work. Would this be because of wire connection ?
Question I did mine today but when I open up the old lamp and expose the inside I only seen the Black and white white there wasn’t no ground in there is it ok to just connect it like that without the ground wire ?
I don’t really need to turn off breaker if it has a light switch, correct? I can just keep light switch off and I can still touch wires without problems? Turning off breaker is just for that extra precaution as you stated.
One more question!! I bought the house I am living in new, and I have a switch on the plate in my living room that I haven't a clue what it is supposed to be used for. I thought it might be a switch for one of the electrical outlets for an On/Off lamp connection. But it doesn't. Is there any way I one can figure out what the switch is used for? Or maybe it is not connected to anything? Is there any way to find out?
Thanks. I noticed at the 2:30 mark the old fixture’s original grounding wire wasn’t grounded by a screw? Secondly I couldn’t see as you installed the new fixture if you screwed the ground wire to the green nut? And if you leave enough length to put them both in the plastic twist caps. Thanks. Liked and sub’d

Thanks for watching and for the feedback! That's a great point, and I'll try to include a tool list in the beginning for future project videos

I don’t have the hollowed out wall. Do I need to cut the screws down in order for it to not stick out??
