I did a deep dive into Student happiness in the Ivy League. It seems students from Brown and Dartmouth are considered "the most happy" with their college life. Super unscientific analysis but still interesting.
Hi from brown! Can confirm this is definitely a very laid-back and chill school! Perfect for people who don’t constantly live with a stick up their ass... No hate harvard you guys get the title or whatever!
I went to Rutgers for my Undergraduate (B.S. in Computer Science) and Cornell for my Masters (Engineering). My conclusion: if your major is in STEM or something in high demand (like CS), you do NOT necessarily need to go to an Ivy League because it's basically like paying more for the similar academics (lectures, coding, etc.). It doesn't matter public or private school, as long as you make an effort to learn, network, and engage, you will be successful. I am currently working in a job that pays 6 figures and I contribute my success to both the public and private institutions I have had the joy of attending. I'm just curious because I've been hearing a lot of mixed things. For kids who have financially stable parents (my moms a teacher and dads an engineer) how much would it cost to go to princeton? I hear average is 6-10k but then i hear other things saying i would receive no financial aid /:
Going by tiers to generalize is fine. Just know that some of the ivies specifically are better at certain disciplines. For example, Cornell is seen to be the best for STEM studies. If you're concerned about ranks for ivies specifically, look at the major and see how it stacks
Important to note that nowadays, the mythic gap between the Ivies and other universities is virtually nonexistent, save for their difficulty of acceptance of course. Back in the 70's or whatever, the Ivies were really objectively better than the other American universities, but this isn't rly true anymore.
@@laslw Ultimately Ivy League grads make more money than grads from other colleges. This is true for every metric, the average starting salary, average salary 10 years after graduation, and the number of individuals who become very wealthy (net asset over 30 million, net asset over 1 billion, etc.)

So yeah, in the long run it's better for career success, but it's not better education.
It's kind of shocking that so much has changed in the last 3 years since this video was made... acceptance rates have plummeted and rankings have shifted substantially
I've seen so many rankings and it's weird. Harvard, Yale and Princeton are always top 3. The others are in different positions in every ranking. You listed brown above Cornell and Dartmouth, other rankings list Brown last.
Harvard and Yale have top undergrad, grad, and professional programs. Princeton doesn't have professional schools but its graduate school (PhD) is top notch. Brown and Dartmouth have limited graduate programs and so they tend not to rank highly if you look only at research output, Nobel Prizes, etc. but they are very popular for undergraduates. Penn, Columbia, and Cornell offer all graduate and professional degrees and have large research programs. Brown is more difficult to get into than Cornell for undergrad (based on acceptance rate, SAT scores, etc.) but Cornell would be ahead of Brown if you ranked based on the research (grant funding, research papers published by faculty, etc).
Havard is the cheapest because it have a scholar ship program for poor student that can't afford the price of the school. The scholar ship percent is depend on how much your parent make.
I just don't understand the mentality (especially the Asian) why Ivy League is everything? Even if you can get in, you coming out broke with Student Loans (unless you are the elite weathy). Yes, it may get you connection but is only so much you can get. Be smart with your investment.
Or, unless you are poor. That's part of what brought me to the ivy's, how well they care for students whose families make less than ~65,000 dollars per year. If you make less than that, you okay almost nothing.
Brilliant students are funded by Malaysian Government to continue their studies in the top 30 universities in the World. Competition is high but the lucky ones got through. So yes, students from some countries do get Government scholarships.
