    When I canoe'd the west branch back in the early 80's our guide made us put all our food high up in the tree's away from camp & food preparation, eating was done away from tents.
    You guys seem to have put a full & fully stocked kitchen right between the tents. Then all the good cooking Donnie is doing. You would think the bears would be lined up like cars at the drive thru on pay day.
    Those donuts made my mouth water just a bit. We get those kind of donuts at our local county fair every fall & they are delicious served piping hot with a sugar coating just like Donnie's.

    • @JoeHollandFishing
      @JoeHollandFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      for sure, we take it for granted that we have never had an encounter with a bear up there.

    Joe, I grew up in this area. My Dad was a renowned hunting and fishing guide (he shot the largest, atypical whitetail one year; 37 points, 300 lbs. field dressed, 2006 B&C points), I fished all the time. Caught more landlocks and shot more partridge (what true Mainers call ruffed grouse) than any one I knew growing up (rarely missed my limit of 2 on both species).
    Had I known you could catch salmon this late in the season, and from a warm water river with less than gin-clear water (like Grand Lake Stream), I would have been fishing for them. I may have to make a special trip up there one fall (I have lived out of the state for many years). If we're still both kicking, maybe I could pay you for your time, even if it's only to point me in the right direction (you may remember my ice fishing posts; I'm the guy who claims to have never been skunked Maine ice fishing; I can name some master guides who I have fished with).

    Donny making doughnuts ! Awesome, never made them at camp, but my dads mother made them on her wood cook stove in Bristol Vermont, like Donny said lard gives them the best taste. First time I had them was 1970. Just loved the whole video. Especially when you talked about meeting new friends outdoors. I really need to make the time to do some pictures and posts from my adventures, Allagash solo trip at 55, yearly fishing and camping trips . This last spring had a great tale!

    • @williamemmons8816
      @williamemmons8816 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😊hit enter before I got to the tale! Took four of my younger coworkers to the Penobscot river corridor, stayed at Roll dam. Second day there fished from the canoe as my wading days are pretty much done . Pulled the canoe up about thirty feet onto dry land . Took young Ryan on a firewood run. Came back and Jeff tells me my canoe is gone. They opened Seboomic dam and the river came up two feet. Washed the canoe downstream, my fly rods were layer across the seats, spare flys, paddles life vests net in the canoe. The guys at Burbank retrieved my canoe. Fortunately they recognized the canoe and came up to tell us they had rescued it. While retrieving the canoe and talking with them we realized that we had met before at GLS. The gentleman that rescued the canoe was not having much success and I had a pretty good day, I gave him the streamer that was working for me . The Brown owl, he still had the fly and said it was one of his favorites. One of many times I got to make new friends in the outdoors!

      Notifications are controlled on your side by clicking on the little bell next to the subscribe button. TH-cam gives you options on notifications and how often or how you get notified if that's what your talking about ti can be adjusted.

    Another great video Joe. Never disappointed. Eat two or three of those donuts and you’ll know why we call ‘‘em sinkers. 🦞
