7 Licks That Teach You Midwest Emo In Standard

- In this video I demonstrate 7 short licks that will teach you some of the rudimentary movements of midwest emo. For example, some of the licks will isolate key techniques like pull-offs into open notes, slides, and hammer-on's. Also, key rhythmic concepts are demonstrated as well. Notably, the classic 16th note flow. If you want to see more lick ideas, be sure to check out my Patreon page as I have a few more ideas notated there.

@@litigatedparadox8946 zoo strategies is so fucking underrated
@@litigatedparadox8946 bruh wtf i didn't know that was him
I wonder how many more bands there would be in the world if every nation appreciated live venue culture...
@@chain_havnis dunno man there are some excellent bands and musicians that only played like 3 months strictly or had 1 straight project and then quit because the guys have his personal life, family or jobs, I saw a few of them and they voluntary didnt wanted to play anymore because of things I mentioned before, well personal decisions, is up to them but I saw great projects and so much talent they shoulda keep going but at the same time was a great experience
This is an awesome practice tool for learning the style a bit more. Exactly what I've been looking for.
Wow, amazing video for people wanting to learn! I have something to do tonight, waking up at 3am.. thank you

Do you have a video on distorted chords that would go with riffs like this?
Thank you!!!
Thank you!
Yes! More more more! lol.
Cool tunes, дюде
Fret 4 on D string making a nice half step with the G string is always a good move
galing✌✌👏👏
I would like to play this at a school talent show
go for it!
Nice I can wake up practice these!! Haha really wish I had multiple guitars like in hs could actually them for all these fun tunings haha
Thank you 🥺
here to expand my repertoire 🤌
nice
Could you do a video on slow core? Like duster type chords and progressions 🤖
I’ve rediscovered standard tuning this year after a couple decades of playing open tunings. What’s old is new I guess.
Emo is heresy -20,000 social credits
We're coming for you Mr Wong
I may be wrong but I think lick 2 tab isn't correct: I'm hearing a 5-4-0 pull off on the D string so it would be (G) 5-4-0 (D) 7-0 and (D) 5-4-0 (G) 7-0
Can you please try Russian 7-string guitar tuning? IT'S also an open tuning
cool! omg
Some moooore
God I wanna learn this style so bad
I signed up to patreon to get the TAB for this but I can't find it on there.
thanks for the support! link is usually in the description of these vids. let me know if this doesn't work. www.patreon.com/posts/59611550
awesome lesson! is your pickguard parchment or mint green?
I don't understand the time signature in lick 7: in the notation it appears that all the notes take equal times (except G), but in the demonstration the last 4 seem slower?
the transcription of lick 2 is wrong i think. it's missing a pull of note from 4 to 0 in the 3th cord
so is lick 7 which should be 8th notes over beats 3-4
Is there slow steps?? Please let me know slowed up and with tabs. I'll give ut ago tho.
Go to the video settings and play it at half speed, pause and rewind as needed.
So if you can write riffs that sound the same as riffs in different tunings, what are the main benefits of alternate tunings?
I understand an open tuning leaves a baseline of whatever chord you tune for, and it can "challenge you to play different", but it just seems more hassle to me.
I got to relearn what scale shapes, chord shapes, etc I can use, but I can still write twinkly riffs in standard.
I know sometimes a riff can be 'easier to play' in particular tunings, but still - someone break this down in laymans terms.
I like open tunings because you can play like shit and it still sounds good 👍 DAEAC#E for life 💪
One of the main benefit of alternate tunings is string ringing out. basically open notes while playing makes it more grand ya know
so this is all in the key of G correct?
Signal chain please!
i need to know what song was used in the outro!
Nice...but where is the flannel???
super helpful thanks!! (:
The nokias ringtone is midwest emo
This sounds more like math rock
Such beautiful sounds. I'm so sick of hearing metal in the local music scene.
Stealing all of these. Thanks :)
You have great videos, but they are way too short to warrant having such a long outro.
Omg I love this
