- This week I tackle a super sweet set of #Ironjawz Brutes! The theme is Lava, which means super sweet lava bases and red skin. I don't normally paint #Orks red so this was a welcome change. These models will be used for an upcoming collaboration with, for now, an un named channel. I am super excited to share that project when the time comes. But for now Lava Brutes will have to do!

That red theme really alters the feel of those Orks. Much more evil and menacing , what a great alternative! Give them a couple of rusty war wagons and you've got a great 'mad max ' wasteland Ork warband ! Thanks for posting!

I loved how the skin and armour endedup looking in your models! they give me a very fel orc vibe from old WoW and make me remember the good ol times in my teen years.

Just found your channel recently, have to say, truly inspiring work. You continue to breathe life into, not only current but past, discarded models. I too love to paint the older models. SOOOOOOOOO Awesome. I love Orks especially as a beginner because they can be any colour, their armor can be any color, you can practice warpaints and tattoos on them. And if you make a mistake simply blame the Orks for poor paint job!

excelent paint work, my dudee! But one thing that was buggin me was the rust is NOT dependent on heat. Rust is dependent on moisture. Thats why the USAF boneyard is in arizona, and not florida. ;)

Now that I've painted them red I really want a whole army of nothing but red Orks lol
I like how the goobertown cup is in front of the three ammo mig colours - it almost looks like it has an idea or a quest for you ^^
What I love about this is that, you are painting an abnormal skin tone color for Orks.
Something that until this video, I haven't found.
Plus I have been planning on painting a good portion of a Freebootaz Ork army red.

Cool to see Orcs painted in a different way, great thinking outside the box! Personally, I preferred the weapons without that last red ink added, but to each their own. Keep up the awesome work!

Loved this video. It's a great colour scheme overall and I really, really love the red skin on the brutes. I was thinking about doing some myself but after 2500 points of 40K I've painted enough green skin!

That color scheme is beautiful. Ive been leaning toward a red skin to give them more of a demon feel and this cements it.
Wow Casey really nice job! Though at 4:00 I've grabed my desk in panic when you started airbrushing the ork with purple paint. I'm feared it turn invisible at any moment, and vanish from your hands. Brave men or perhaps just lucky. ;)

If I have one complaint, it's that for the fire on the weapons, the white should be in the center of the flame; that's where its hottest! Outside of that, I love how the armour turned out, and the red skin reminds me of the blood orcs from Warcraft. Great job as per usual man, can't wait to see the next video 😊

Those are mighty awesome! But where in the love of green apples can I find me some of those Vallejo Metal Colors paints?! My main online sources are always out of them. I guess that means they're both popular and really good.
They have been very popular lately, I got mine from a brick and mortar store a couple of hours away. If amazon is out, your best bet is to probably call stores and see if they ship. Totally worth the effort though, they are fantastic!

Yep, everything is done with the patriot. I have a sotar 20/20 as well, but I find that the Patriot does just fine in 99% of situations.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thanks! I’m trying to decide between the Patriot 105 and the Krome as my first airbrush. The patriot’s certainly cheaper, but I didn’t know if I’d be able to grow with it if it wasn’t good for details. Look’s like it’ll be a solid choice.
What I want to know is what the hell brown that is you primed in. I can't find anything by Stynylrez that matches it. Is there an equivalent?
For those metal paints you used. Is it ok to use the airbrush versions with a brush? Is there a non airbrush version or should I just get the airbrush one as its thinner already.
I’m pretty sure the only kind they sell (Vallejo Metal Color) is airbrush ready, but the best part is that they work fantastically with a brush, so no need to have anything else :)
Give them horns and they'd look like how I'd imagine the orks lead by Tuska Daemon Killer who were enslaved by Khorne from 40k
Casey, do you ever get tired of stripping paint off used minis? I've yet to find anything that will lift off paint without scrubbing and I've come to the opinion now that I can't be bothered with both the mess and the time investment and just buy new most of the time. Have you got any secrets to share? Great results by the way!

This makes me want to expand beyond just 40k Orks. The models and great paint jobs are almost too tempting not to give it a go of my own.
The paint scheme on the Orks are really well thought out . I just feel that the portion where you overlay red ink on the weapons was kinda overkill. It kills the contrast between the skin tones and the weapons. I feel that the heated yellow was a better compliment to the Ork red skin. But overall great and very inspiring video.

These Ironjawz models are some of my favorites, they are big and bulky. They kind of feel like painting space marines, in a good way :)
Love the color scheme of the orcs, your own though seems a bit off. New lighting setup? You're a bit purple-ish
I noticed that too, I got a new monitor recently, so my color grading is giving me a hard time lol. I noticed that on my tv if I put it into movie mode the colors seem fine. I even went as far as to redo the color last night and upload a different version of this video, it helped a little but I’ve got to change up some things to get back to better color. The joy of weekly uploads! 😂

It's not too difficult, there's a little bit of back and forth with the colors, but you can get awesome glowing weapons with a brush.

What brand is the wet palette?
Masterson’s sta-wet handy pallet. You can get them on amazon for pretty cheap, just make sure you throw away the papers it comes with and use parchment paper instead :)
I am really confused, why the celestial Hurricanum is so expensive. Here in germany you can still buy them from gw directly.

I’ve seen it pop up on amazon before. I got mine from another painter though, he had several of the smaller bottles and I bought a few of each color. I hope it comes back up in some stores, it’s super useful!
Is the color you used actually Brown or is it the Ebony Flesh? I cannot find any record of Stynlrez making a brown primer

What if you don't have an air brush?
For a long time I painted without one, the airbrush is just a tool, it will never replace your paintbrush and on top of that, everything you can do with an airbrush can be accomplished with a brush. For blending, especially when we are talking shadows and highlights, try wet blending. Vince Venturella, Miniac, Squidmar, and a ton of other awesome painters have specific tutorials on that topic :) The airbrush is amazing though and you should eventually consider looking into getting one. When I did my whole view on the hobby changed and I got way more into it!

As long as I can find it used on eBay for a good price it’s still a rescue in my book! Better than sitting on a shelf :)

Don't you have any ventilation in your work room? That's pretty deadly for your lungs until you have a really good thight mask.
Meanwhile for me a good price on ebay is 50% of GW price.
i personally found airbrushes to be more hassle than their worth, it gets the paint everywhere you don't want it to be, you just want to base coat the weapon and the color lands on the face and chest and makes your work take twice as long to clean up the mess
It’s a tool just like anything else, once you put in the time to learn how to use it then you will know when and when not to use it. If you have an airbrush then I’d highly suggest giving it a try, after a few projects you may surprise yourself!
