I’m 77 years old and live in south Texas. Our country is a bit of a divided mess right now. I’ve recently have had a not the best health diagnosis l, I care for a disabled adult child, and have an older daughter that works hard everyday and makes a positive difference in this challenging world. I have four inside cats, two feral cats, and a cadre of raccoons that think I’m a wild creature cafe. I no longer can do all that I used to but you two inspire me to keep on keeping on. You could always put a tent to enclose the pool and use a kerosene turbo heater to keep the temperature surrounding the enclosed pool high enough to tile the pool or what you have in mind. Don't let mother nature stop your plans, work around the obstacle

I used to live in Alaska and during the winter when foundations were poured, contractors would tarp off the foundation area and have propane heaters that blew in the area to keep it warm enough to set. Would something like that work for your pool issue? Chin up, you know in the end it WILL work out. Take a lot of those walks and just enjoy the moment you are in.

Could you put a tent around the pool and heat it with diesel or propane? Then get your work done within that space? Not the most ideal but maybe still possible? Definitely paint the door black. Tyler and Tod, I just love you two so much! First of all, turn off the news, you haven't lost anything by not watching it! Build a temporary wood greenhouse type structure over the pool. It only has to be strong enough to hold the plastic sheeting you are going to staple to it. Put a couple of outdoor kerosine space heaters in it and you will have the heat you need to get the project done before it gets any colder. You two have gone thru so much, and I know sometimes it is easy to get defeated. You two are stronger than you think. Treat it as just another challenge to overcome. Building a home offgrid is a huge undertaking over many years especially in a four season climate. And not only a home but two homes, a huge garden, three furry kids and a relationship. So I don't think we are burdened with your projects or with the state of the world. We're okay and you all are okay.
21:07 I have seen pools being finishing in Winter, they use a tent with heating that with that temperature controlled tent they finished the pool. Maybe worth checking out that option

You did everything you could. You are still doing everything you can. Keep taking time for yourselves. Give each other extra hugs from me...especially our pudgy Squirrel (cat lady here...but, not childless). Perhaps some gentle time wasting videos for the next couple weeks? You know, deco, showing off what other things you've done, partying with friends, going on a nice vacay over the winter, stuff like that. Also, consider keeping the next several videos shorter. While we all absolutely adore spending time with you, it's ok to keep it short. That way you are still in front of the almighty algorithm BUT not crushing yourselves with a huge time investment. Maybe 15 minutes or so per week. That should be enough to placate the TH-cam gods. If you can tent the pool with a tarp tent and put in a propane heater before the weather really starts to turn, it will stay above 10. We do it at building sites to help concrete cure.

Hey just a thought. I had the same issue with temps and my deck. I bought a cheap cover/tent and a couple heaters to make a room that the temp was high enough for the deck to cure. I think you can rent a tent or whatever and cover the pool while the stuff cures. Love yall. Hope this helps. 22:13

That piece of paradise is looking surreal in how much you have accomplished in very difficult terrain. If only I could have achieved something like that in my life, I would be so incredibly proud. As an old lady, I am sharing my life lesson: every bump in the road is destined to be, for the lessons it brings, but also to slow the pace for various parts to knit together. You could always put a tent to enclose the pool and use a kerosene turbo heater to keep the temperature surrounding the enclosed pool high enough to tile the pool or what you have in mind.

I used to live in Alaska and during the winter when foundations were poured, contractors would tarp off the foundation area and have propane heaters that blew in the area to keep it warm enough to set. Would something like that work for your pool issue?

Could you put a tent around the pool and heat it with diesel or propane? Then get your work done within that space? Not the most ideal but maybe still possible? Definitely paint the door black. My 'take aways' - Paint the pool/heat pump door black, Dumpy's close up - he's an attractive man.... that makes me a 'cougar' (I'm 67), and no matter what you come up against Im confident you will find a way through and beyond. Build a temporary wood greenhouse type structure over the pool. It only has to be strong enough to hold the plastic sheeting you are going to staple to it. Put a couple of outdoor kerosine space heaters in it
and you will have the heat you need to get the project done before it gets any colder.
You two have gone thru so much, and I know sometimes it is easy to get defeated. You two are stronger than you think. Treat it as just another challenge to overcome. Besides you got dumpy to help you get this done.

21:07 I have seen pools being finishing in Winter, they use a tent with heating that with that temperature controlled tent they finished the pool. Maybe worth checking out that option

You did everything you could. You are still doing everything you can. Keep taking time for yourselves. Give each other extra hugs from me...especially our pudgy Squirrel (cat lady here...but, not childless). Perhaps some gentle time wasting videos for the next couple weeks? You know, deco, showing off what other things you've done, partying with friends, going on a nice vacay over the winter, stuff like that. Also, consider keeping the next several videos shorter. While we all absolutely adore spending time with you, it's ok to keep it short. That way you are still in front of the almighty algorithm BUT not crushing yourselves with a huge time investment. Maybe 15 minutes or so per week. That should be enough to placate the TH-cam gods.
In the meantime, like everyone else here, I love you both (even though I've never met you IRL) and wish you everything wonderful. You've earned it.

If you can tent the pool with a tarp tent and put in a propane heater before the weather really starts to turn, it will stay above 10. We do it at building sites to help concrete cure.

As an old person who has lived a life, I can tell you that when you look back, you will do it with a smile. Even the hard and sad times in retrospect look better once you are through them. Just keep your nose pointing forward and follow your nose. The only way out is through. And the fun that you and Todd have and now with grumpy dumpy, make for lighter work

Hey just a thought. I had the same issue with temps and my deck. I bought a cheap cover/tent and a couple heaters to make a room that the temp was high enough for the deck to cure. I think you can rent a tent or whatever and cover the pool while the stuff cures. Love yall. Hope this helps. 22:13

You need to zoom your perspective out from the micro-lens and see your lives from our macro perspective. My thoughts, before you shared your last bit, was: Wow, look how much they have achieved! That piece of paradise is looking surreal in how much you have accomplished in very difficult terrain. If only I could have achieved something like that in my life, I would be so incredibly proud. As an old lady, I am sharing my life lesson: every bump in the road is destined to be, for the lessons it brings, but also to slow the pace for various parts to knit together. When you reach your 60s and 70s, you will see the value of the journey. And, unbelievably, you will cherish these bumps, for the value they brought. ❤🇿🇦
