  • Navigate Work Conversations with Ease: Agreeing and Disagreeing in English
    🎧 Are you ever caught in a work conversation wondering how to express your disagreement without causing offense? Or perhaps you're looking to reinforce a colleague's point but want to sound more natural and confident? In our latest episode of High Level Listening, Kat and Mark are here to empower your workplace communications with a guide on how to agree and disagree professionally and politely in English.
    In this episode:
    👉 Kat Teacher introduces the nuanced art of expressing agreement or dissent in the workplace, offering phrases that are commonly used in both American and British English.
    👉 Mark Teacher underscores the importance of communicating with colleagues candidly yet courteously, avoiding any hint of rudeness or unprofessionalism.
    What to expect:
    ✅ Advanced vocabulary and expressions for agreeing and disagreeing at work
    ✅ Side-by-side American and British English examples
    ✅ Dialogue simulations for real-life practice
    ✅ Tips on maintaining professionalism while stating your opinion
    📚 We’ll take you through a plethora of phrases for strongly agreeing, mildly disagreeing, and even how to politely bring a fruitless discussion to a close with phrases like "let's agree to disagree." Each phrase will be followed by a realistic dialogue to ensure you understand the context and can hear how each phrase flows in an actual conversation.

    That’s great! Listening to the topic, I remember the book “How to talk to anyone “ by Leil Lowndes. So, in my opinion you are not only English teachers, but you also teach how to communicate properly. I think these ideas would help to improve family relations as well.
    I also think that this strong disagreement like “let’s agree to disagree “ doesn’t work in some situations in today’s world, unfortunately!

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn’t agree more, some people really don’t want to stop arguing 🙃🙃 so it makes it difficult to “agree to disagree”! In that case I usually tell people that I’m done with the conversation or I’m going to let it go and move on 👋
      Thanks so much for joining us in class!

    Is it necessary to pick up the accent to sound professional?

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think so, no. You don't need to hide your native accent and become completely American or British-sounding, the most important thing is to speaking clearly so that everyone can understand you. If you speak English with a bit of an accent from outside the US, UK, CAN, AUS, NZ etc. - that's totally fine as long as you can be understood by others! :)
