    Stretch wrap is so helpful for wrapping up typewriters and holding bubble wrap in place. Great video, thanks for sharing, time to settle in☺️

    Completely unrelated, but coming back to this video after I’ve graduated and it’s been almost a year since my last job, I’m STILL looking for one. It was so refreshing to see your excitement after landing a job, and I really hope I can be in the same position soon ❤️

    Wow. Huge changes for you, congratulations! I would totally understand if there is less content as you get settled in, and because of your new job. Hard enough to move without recording it all too... so I appreciate seeing it and enjoyed the ride. One trick I think can be good is to trigger the carriage release with a rubber band or something, so that the escapement is not engaged. Clearly you then need to wrap it carefully as it is totally loose. This is good for post, but in your situation that is more than you needed to do I think - what you did clearly worked well. It looks like you have a lot more space in your new place, and you will be able to display more of your collection. I'm sure you are excited about that. It is a shame Diamond could not come too, but that painting is great and 3 hours is not that far, so not forever I'm guessing. Best wishes, enjoy your new life.

    I moved right about the same time . It was local so all my typewriters traveled in my car. It took us three weeks though ( it was a huge house) and our new one isn’t ready yet😬 so stashed my typewriters here there and everywhere 😳. Loved that portrait..lost my best guy Max( goofy golden) in April so will check the artist out. Good luck in your new job ❤️

    The magic Saran wrap is called "stretch tape." I love that it can be used in a lot of places you can use packing tape, but it only sticks to itself.

    Good luck with the job and hopefully you're all settled into the new apartment. I adore the maroon velvet seats in your car. Wish they still made those. Much nicer to sit on than leather.

    I’m watching this after moving my gf and myself which means two cats, a home office, a full bedroom set, and my 6 typewriters so I strongly relate to this video. Currently watching while laying down just recovering from carrying stuff up and down 4 sets of stairs for 9 days… I’m hiring movers next time 😂 thanks for sharing

    Congrats on the new job and new place!
    That is the issue that I had right after I had moved out of my parents haus! How to go about decorating and what was my "style".
    Since my first apartment saw me with very little in way of furniture, I had a couple goodwill and thrift shop deals. Then as I approached my second apartment, I found myself getting back in to, what is now seen as vintage tech, I had wanted to showcase my 90s and early 2000s stuff- - stuff I grew up using. Then as I moved into my haus, I found that I wanted to keep with its vintage 130yr old charm. Suffice it to say, it is a mix between some stuff from the later portion of victorian era and more predominately consisting of things of the 1940s-1950s with hints of modern... at least in way of computers, tvs and such.
    Those restoration channels were/are a weakness of mine as well. I have a few things lined up in my garage waiting for me to get the last of the tools so that I could restore them to their glory.

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have access to a garage any more which is thankfully keeping me from going too crazy in the way of furniture restoration

    Wishing you all the best on your step into the big wide world, your type writers will be good company!! That plastic wrap is what we call cling film here in the UK and is my greatly preferred alternative to adhesive tape for packing stuff inside boxes. It also means bubble wrap is easier to reuse for the buyer. On your check engine light, I doubt that is related to the load weight. Your car looks as though it can take the driver and four passengers, which would be much, much more weight than the typewriters, without taking into account luggage and fuel load. The light could on for many reasons but two common issues are the MAF, mass airflow sensor, and O2 sensor, that is the exhaust gas oxygen sensor. Those two items are expected to fail in use as they have an arduous environment to deal with. Of course it could be many other things, you will need to have the ECU codes read to get an idea of where the problem lies. Good luck!

    All the best with the new job and home! What's your book collection like? I haven't moved for a few years, but out of everything I think box upon box of many hundreds of books was the heaviest and most laboured thing. Can't seem to offload anything though. Space appears. Then stuff appears to fill it...

      I had to do a massive purge of them a few years ago. I saved just about every YA novel I ever saw. Now I have mostly text books which stay in my office at work!

    Congratulations! I moved a couple of years ago with 80 typewriters(!) Many of them are standards, but I do have quite a few portables too, so I know your pain. However, I moved the typewriters myself; I didn't want to have the movers move them. Some are pre-1900. My move was in the same town, so I wasn't going very far, but my house doesn't look like I've finished moving yet! :|

    Hello, all! Newbie here. I'm looking for my first typewriter but can't decide between an Olympia SM3 or 4 and an SM9. I'll be using it many hours daily for novel-writing. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had an SM9 for a while and I loved it! Lots of collectors out there love their 3s and 4s. The big difference for me was the age- if you're looking for an older looking one, you can go 3 or 4. I find testing them out first really helps!

    Hi! Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have a question, i purchased my first type writer and will follow your instructions but I am noticing that it automatically spaces when I’m typing and wondering if this is fixable. I can be typing and it spaces on its own and so the word looks separated. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check and see if the space bar is moving up and down when you type without pressing it! I had a machine that did this once and it would just randomly space because the space bar was bent and was pressing without any pressure

    • @edithcaballero6235
      @edithcaballero6235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No the spacebar doesn’t move, do you know what it may be?

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's not the space bar, you might have some gunk in the escapement. That's the piece that indexes individual spaces while typing. I usually flush that with mineral spirits and then blow it out with an air compressor. I believe phoenix typewriter has several videos on it!
