    In this video I describe what is required and in the next video I show you the details..... there are 3 MIDI devices added for input as well as output and I could not find any description of how they work .... I experimented and the results I obtained are in the next video.

    Hey, I was wondering how can I get your screen saver on my FA-06

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just download from Roland website 🙂
      it's named 0001.BIN ..... and it must be place in the SCREEN SAVER directory on the Flash Card.... actually you can download the ENTIRE contents of the "Factory" Card (that comes with new keyboard)..... in which case you will get the DEMO songs..... the DEMO audio samples ..... as well as the screensaver..... NOTE: a screensaver only appears when you have a Flash Card in the slot that has a screensaver file on it 🙂

    are you still recomend the FA for today?

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it is still the best VALUE for your money.... although Roland has released a new Fantom it is considerably more money with only a few minor changes which do not justify the larger price tag...... Yamaha has some excellent contenders in the same price category HOWEVER although they sound great and have some nice features (which I wish Roland would have included also) ..... from the solo music production point-of-view Yamaha workflow is not as practical...... many musicians are NOT computer programmers and the consensus (in the forums) seems to be Roland FA-06 is the best there is in terms of "ease-of-use"...... and my channel seeks to explain everything practically so people can tweak and fiddle EASILY and naturally....... nothing is saved unless you explicitly save it..... this is both good and bad ..... however, the ability to do ANYTHING without ruining your settings and patches, in my opinion, outweighs the one or two times you might "lose a good sound" because you did NOT save it before doing something else..... I keep a few "scratchpad memory locations" where I can hold sounds that I am sculpting and save regularly so I can compare sounds...... but OVERALL I am very happy with FA-06 and the way I can easily bring together a song on it..... hope you find this helpful

    I am currently thinking whether should I buy the Roland Juno DS, the Korg Kross or this keyboard, the FA-06. I want to use it as integration with my DAW, to use transport buttons and if possible to switch between DAW Cubase tracks without having to manually map the device on Cubase Map Devices (It's a pain, especially for me who changes between Tablet/laptop and PC). I'd also like to edit sounds on the PC via some software and that I can assign "favorite" sounds to each PAD. Finally that I can use the Keyboard sounds as VST instruments on Cubase, and that I can easily record/sequence things as well. I'd like it to be as light as possible but taking into account that my current keyboard weighted 8,5 Kgs. Also that it can run on batteries althought this is the least important feature I am looking for. Which one would you recommend and why?

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FA-06 costs significantly more than either the Kross or DS and there are reasons for the price difference. However the PAD's in the FA-06 do NOT store 'tones' for the sound engine. They store Audio Clips but they are NOT 'playable' on the keyboard (so the word 'sampler' does NOT mean what it did for Ensoniq and other true 'sampling' keyboards).
      Please watch some of my other videos that explain the features of the FA-06 in order to help you decide. It does not work from batteries but it does contain DAW control map for Cubase which will allow you to use the transport controls on the keyboard to control your Cubase

    Hello Stéphane,
    I am sending you this message today because I am lost and you seem to be one of the only people who could help me. Indeed I bought the Roland FA 06 a few months ago and I can't manage to connect it to FL studio. I watch your videos but I'm French, it's difficult to integrate everything. Could you please give me the procedure to connect my synthesizer to the software? You will be a great help....
    Thank you very much
    good day

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FIRST you go to the Roland Website and get the latest driver on your computer
      SECOND on the FA-06 you go to the SYSTEM menu and the GENERAL tab and you set USB driver to VENDOR
      THIRD you use a USB cable to connect your FA-06 to your computer
      FOUR you open your FL studio and go to Preferences AUDIO settings and you select the AUDIO PORTS associated with FA-06.... and if you want MIDI also then you go to MIDI settings and select the FA-06 MIDI ports
      Now which of the above have you not done ?
      best wishes 😊

    Hey Stephen, love the vids! what's the benefit of having FA as output from DAW? Is it just to get the the TFX effects on your daw output and for ease of keyboard controls during a live performance? just wondering why you'd have FA as output from Daw and not just straight to speakers from computer? thanks!

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct.... those are the two reasons you might want to do it .... I guess they just have the feature because it might be useful to somebody and it's easy for them to implement ? 😊 ..... I only demonstrate all these features just to help people ..... but I do not actually use them with my own music making efforts 😂

      @@user-pk4sd9dd2w I have never been impressed with these "named" control maps (which are presumable done for noobs) because they are very basic and don't really give much more than a very basic functionality (same thing with the control maps in the A-800PRO) ..... the GOOD NEWS is it's pretty straightforward to customize.... so why not create your very own personalized map and name it "Garageband" 😊 ?..... but you can TRY the "Logic Pro" map and see how it works in Garage Band .... it's perfectly safe to experiment with it .... cannot damage anything .... things will either work or they wont and then you will know... I really need your help.
    Let's say I composed something in FL studio.
    The sounds of FL studio are not the best quality.
    I want to reproduce the thing that a made in FL studio with the sounds of the Roland FA.
    Is that possible?

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your tracks were made using MIDI information then it's easy to output the MIDI information into the FA-06 BUT if you used AUDIO samples (drum loops, bass lines or whatever) then you will not be able to reproduce your creation on the FA-06..... so did you use AUDIO or MIDI tracks ???

    • @Eltodofull

      @@StephenMendes MIDI.
      Although, I found the answer.
      A needed a plugin for FL studio that's included in the program: MIDI output. I chose the plugin by pressing F8.
      Then I configured in the options the MIDI keyboard and the "path" (a number to the right of the list)
      Then I matched those paths, and finally, the MIDI playing in FL studio, was playing the instruments included in the Roland.
