TH-cam recommended this song to me about 3 years ago. I’ve been dancing to it ever since. I’m a 70 year old great grandmother! 🤷🏾♀️
Rock on, Grandma. ✊✊
A random question I would genuinely like to know; If you were to pass down some wisdom or thought/ideal, what would it be?
As a 20 year old, hell yeah
The Hu is a band from Mongolia. The lyrics are in Mongolian. The song is about being prepared to defend their homeland. And the vocal technique being used is called "throat singing."
Mongolian Throat singers. A primitive art combined with modern instruments. Absolutely beautiful!
Well, not exactly modern instruments, but maybe more modern than the throat singing. 😁
@@Tampahop I agree. How about modernized instruments.
Primitive ????
Those aren't modern instruments
Absolutely watch a lyrics video. These are the children of Genghis Khan. Largest land Empire ever. From Korea to Romania, East - West, and from the Indus River to Moscow, South - North.
Genghis took so many wives, concubines, and forcefully took advantage of so many women that almost all of Mongolia can trace their lineage to him.
@@toddjackson3136I think I remember a study that claimed "One in two hundred people on Earth is related by blood to Genghis Khan. 0.05 %. That was a hard life!
@greggwilliamson I saw that study too. It blew my mind until I thought about how long ago it was and how much genetics would have spread. The US being a much younger nation only has a population of a little over 300mil while China boasts a population of 1.5bil. Given that The Great Kahn concured such a massive area and that his sons continued his behavior of war, rape, and pillage its not surprising that over the last several hundreds of years his genetics have spread across the world. It's actually kind of cool to think about. I've always wanted to take a DNA ancestry test and see which genetics I inherited from my ancestors.
@@greggwilliamson 1 in 200 is half a percent 0.5% not 0.05%.
@@toddjackson3136USA population is 365 million and the biggest country in the world is 1.4 billion. China's population is 1.35 billion.
turn on the closed captioning. The lyrics are awesome! They are from Mongolia. In the 13th century the Mongolian Horde (their army) lead by Ghengis Khan, was the one of the most feared armies in the world.
You nailed it! It's basically a war chant saying if attacked they will respond in kind :)
The original purpose of the great wall was to defend their land from the Mongolian military. This is a beautiful offer from this band. Throat singing is very old & quite incredible. Watch this one with the sub-titles. It will offer more as far as what they are. I love The Hu. Horses = The Iron Horse. Thank you for sharing this one.
the wall wasn't meant to keep barbarians out, it was meant to make it a lot harder for them to escape with loot
The Great Walls go back over 1500 years before the Mongol invasion.
Mongolian Metal. They fulfill a primal, bass heavy kind of wonderful music. I never get tired of these guys.
Been listening to The Hu for a couple of years now. Wolf Totum is my favorite. I play it often when I feel the need for some inspiration.
I just checked the info on them. They are a Mongolian band and only sing in their native language. I checked out the lyrics on Google. It's so nice to have something so different to think about. Thanks Greg!
Mongolian throat singers are amazing
you should definitely look up the translation of the lyrics. it is even more epic when you understand
The HU are one of my favorites the throat singing is incredible and if you read the lyrics you will see they are singing about battle in a lot of their songs they also tour in the USA
Greg
Look up on the lyrics of Wolf Totem. You are correct about this song. They sing in Mongolian about defending in case if attackers tried to attack them. Mongolia is one of the reasons that China builds the Great Wall.
There is a version of this with Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach and another song they did with Lzzy Hale. They are amazing in and of themselves those two collaborations are even more amazing
This song is as epic now as it was when they first recorded it. It’s a traditional Mongolian war chant. edit: The singing is called Tuvan throat singing.
No. That is wrong. The singing is called Mongolian khuumii. This style has kind if 4 types. One of them relates to Uriankhai/Tuvan khuumii.
For you, my brother:
If the lions want war
We gon' fight until the battle ends
If the tigers come running
We gon' fight them to the bloody end
When the elephants come
They gon' bow to my brethren
Lock 'em in a cage
Parade them to the lion's den
I breathe fire like a dragon killing demons
Am I go hard? Yeah, we gonna seize the day
Hellfire, rain it down upon my people
If ya gonna bring the evil, we could bury it today
We've all been lost, we've all been called
Everyone rise to a brethren code
We got your back, we all been low
Let's all rise to the brethren code
We've all been lost, we've all been called
Everyone rise to a brethren code
We got your back, we've all been low
Let's all rise to the brethren code
We've all been lost, we've all been called
Everyone rise to a brethren code
We got your back, we've all been low
Let's all rise to the brethren code
We've all been lost, we've all been called
Everyone rise to a brethren code
We got your back, we've all been low
Let's all rise to the brethren code
Don't forget to thank your Mongolian translator. ;-)
This is a war song. There is a video with lyrics. They did a colab with Pappas Roach and others so there is some English in that Song. It's really well put together.
Great reaction . And big cookies to You for having an open mind.
I love the HU.
I sometimes forget many, especially Americans forget that us mongols exist and are still around 😂
But yes, this is song is a power chant talking about the strength of our warriors, their bravery and ability to defeat any threat that comes our way. Nice to see more people experience our music, culture and so on!
i was watching these guys years ago they are great
The general meaning of the song is, "If you come here looking for trouble, we will give it to you". That's also what the guy says when he speaks in the middle of the song.
FIRE!, good on you stepping out of the box and do something completely different. more of that please.!!! bring new to the masses
Give Sugaa Essena a listen. It's incredible. It's from one of the Star Wars movies and it's actually in a made up language. These guys are Mongolian throat singers, and some of the instruments they use are traditional Mongolian instruments that you've probably never heard of. They make me want to jump on a horse and follow them into war.
Great video and song 👍☮️
These guys are great! They also have a video series called “Hu’s in the kitchen”. They cook for each other while on tour. Love “The song of Women”.
Good on ya guy! You got it. Here’s some stuff I read. Mongolia was never conquered. 30% of the people are nomadic. The president of Mongolia was one of the bikers when this was filmed. Genghis Kahn and company took over more territory than any ever. If you joined them their reputation protected you. If not, you died.
I was lucky enough to see them live twice in Australia 🦘.
This shows amazing talent and skill.
" this is not a song you want to listen to before you know that you going to do something that you aint got no business doing" - best comment ever.
Basic summary of song is if you mess with us we will repay you a thousand times over.
Definitely watch it with subtitles. It's Mongolian metal. They are throat singing. Did you notice the guitar shaped like a bow and arrow?
Wolf spirit, heart beat, touch the soul of wild
Oh yeah. You definitely should've turned on CC. They have english lyrics on almost all of their videos/
Correct! It's a war chant of sorts.
The HU is so badass, if Chinggis Khan was alive today, he would be a roadie!
Thats Mongolia where the American Indians originated. Mongolia and Russian Siberia. There are several million Indians still over there roaming freely over the countryside.
I ❤️ the Hu!!,
Another new experience. Thanks
great music for ur workout playlist
This song, after learning they were decedents of Genghis Khan, made me look deeper into Genghis Khan, because we have been taught he was an evil man. Of course in today's society he would be considered an evil man, but you have to consider the time in which he lived, totally different than what society expects now. Genghis Khan wanted unity for all Mongolians, he wanted all tribes together and part of his army instead of fighting one another. Now if you surrendered, it is said he was quite lenient and you joined his army, but if you wanted to fight, well then it was on and he and his army were going to win. That's basically what this song is saying, they do not want trouble, but if you want to start trouble and bring evil intentions their way, they'll have no problem finishing it. Great reaction vid!
You should check out Batzorig Vaanchig.
Singing with his daughter is a great one because he performs a few different styles of throat singing in it.
This video does have English subtitles if you turn on the closed captions to translate from the Mongolian into English. It's very powerful to watch with the subtitles on.
There is a video with English subtitles. Look it up. They are not just chanting, it's a warning not to mess with them or they will destroy you
I listened to them a while back.. when I got into native American songs, and went down a path of cultural music, and what I felt was they are very similiar.. I think it's the use of instruments that aren't electric.
That's because the American Indians originated in Mongolia and Russian Siberia. They are directly related to the American Indians in North America. The millions of Indians in Mongolia and Siberia in Russia still roam freely all over the countryside.
@@pollypurree1834The Khalkha are living dirt poor deep in debt with Russia and China. The Buryats and Kalmyks are fighting Putin's war, the Khorchin, Oirat, and Daur are all losing their language and culture to the CCP. Their children speak Chinese and cant even speak their own language. The only ones free are their horses.
I truly wonder....what if Pac heard this song?! I bet EVERYTHING he would have respected this. And I hope you've had a chance to see the translated lyrics. IT ALL ABOUT being prepared for ANYTHING out of line coming their way. The Mongolian people (tribes) have been around a long, long time on this earth. Maybe as long as (IDK) the African people. Your cultures are ANCIENT perhaps more so than my Caucasian ancestors. I have MAD respect for Hu.
I am disappointed chat didnt tell him to turn on subtitles. This is the best version of "Dont start none, wont be none"
Saw them earlier this year. They are awesome and do an amazing cover of Sad but True by Metallica
The song is about them being Mongolian and descendants of Ghengis Khan and being proud warriors from their homeland

OMG how brilliant is this?
One of Genghis Khans son wrote this it’s a battle chant you were on point my man.
Its reference is Mongolian culture as a whole including historical war chants along with Ghengis Khans historical Black Banner in the back meaning no mercy to its inhabitants in the city! lol including the slogan one Race to rule all other races lol
Also check the version with jacobi shadox
My 9 yr old grandson was asked, what he thought they were saying.
I about peed myself when he told his Aunt( my daughter)- hamburger, cheeseburger, Big mac , whopper .
Guess he was hungry? 😅
The beginning you could say the cousins to native Americans, since Mongolians and Native Americans are related
You need to listen to this to psych yourself up to be changing a bad diaper 🤣🤣🤣. I'm just teasing, but I've changed a lot of those bad diapers, and for real, it's intense.
Yeah Mongolians are wild
There is a Papa Roach colab with this song. Do it!
Can u feel it
They are descended from Ghengis Khan who conquered most of the world back in the day
There is a version with English subtitles!!
if you turn on the captioning, it will give the English translation

These gentlemen are Mongolian..
Dude...throat singing is a technique. ...its sounding very tribal and will draw you in...good reaction...
🤘🏽⚜️🤘🏽
This song ALWAYS brings to mind a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario: IF the Mongolian Horse Clans at the HEIGHT of their strength/power (which I believe was under Genghis Khan, but please correct me if I'm wrong about that) would have faced off against the Native American Indian tribes at the HEIGHT of their strength/power, who would actually win?
YES, I know that BOTH Peoples were in different parts of the world, and as far as we currently know neither group had any interaction with each other, and both Peoples were from different time periods. However, that being said, BOTH Peoples were highly trained Mounted Warriors, and mostly lived in similar areas (meaning primarily plains), and both Peoples seemed to be equally trained/skilled as Mounted Warriors.
So again, in a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario, who would actually win?
Just always wondered about that.
subtitles available :)
watch again with the subtitles find out what the fire is
Mongolian rock, go down the rabbit hole, they did some Metallica also!!
Listen to the version with jacoby shadox
You must do the version of wolf totem with jacoby shaddux of papa roach.
These guys are your cousins.. all our cousins.. Look it up.
They have English sub titles
You should use the captions .
Mongoling folk metal the name HU is mongol for human so in English their name is the human band in mongol its the hu band
HU means human in Mogolian.
Mongolian. Look up what the words mean. This is the biggest, hardest, "We gone kick your ass" song on the planet.
I mean, would you mess with that particular crew?
The horse people
2:59 the intimidation is real. No tribe as far as I know. Just mongolian. Just Mongolians. Just Mongolian humans.
