I can’t wait to get going! I’ve been struggling with SHFFLs for a while now and I didn’t know how to practice them, and this is exactly what I was looking for!
I don't know why but I've never been able to reliably short hop. Back when I had time to practice, when I was super focused on it the best I could do was get the short hop like 70% of the time
Can’t wait to watch this video. Just started playing melee, and the thing that’s ABSOLUTELY KILLING ME, is the amount of lag in the game. I feel like everyone is running and jumping circles around me, and I’m spamming the jump button getting falco to jump once every 10 inputs, trying to input attacks quickly and just watching falco stand there. Shits rage inducing
A guide for what I've been doing for months. Now that's what they call pog You could cover the "Triforce of improvement". A guide for how to review your own games. And a guide for how to improve while playing friendliess. To go along with this solo practice guide. If you don't think your regular content already covers what to look for in friendlies
this is a great value with the skill ceiling for gaming going up and up im sure its great to have this content as someone who wants to get into the game
Ok; french dude here (bronol gang) so i hope my english will be understanble. But really i wanted to tell you how i love you PP, and this vid is awesome. I've always loved melee watching e-sport and streamers like you, but never tried myself, i played from brawl to ultimate, but recently i have been fed up with it. And yesterday, i downloaded slippi and give melee a try. Ngl, i feel clumsy as heck, i can't move properly or do anything really good, but i've downloaded unclepunch training pack to try things, but couldn't do it. But i swear, only at the wavedashing, i don't know why, i've already watched other tutorial but i couldn't do ONE proper wavedash. But the way you explain things, breaking down the basic movement of jump, then airdodge, slow and at long jump and doing it quicker and quicker must have unlocked something in my brain, and now, i can run into back wavedashing (not always, but i manage to do it frame 1 sometimes!) you are an amazing teacher, and as someone who just got into trying to learn melee, you really are a savior. Hop to see more of this kind of content!
I'm not good at melee, but this guide helped me a lot on my problems : movemements and falcos lasers, the 2 bascis of the characters. Ur really a great teacher, thank u a lot :3
I will say that you definitely can use the training packs to practice the things PP normally does as well. Just load up l cancel training, or just training lab in uncle punch and do whatever you want. It's actually better
Yo dude, this is super informative, thanks for making this! I do think that because it's guided by chat to some degree, it's somewhere between a guide and a mechanics Q&A, so maybe it'd make sense to make it a series like "Teachings: Melee Movement Practice" or something like that?
My hand coordination is so horrible that I can't go any further than 2:30, in fact I can't even short hop reliably - what techniques should I practice instead?
do you usually use A for aerials or cstick? I find that i basically always use c stick unless its nair. Im a falcon/mario main. Loved the video. been searching for something like this for a while.
@@youtubeobserver i legit only picked him up because i remember not being able to play him at all, he felt worse then pichu and then i saw n0ne and i was like "i have to figure this kid out"
I know wd can take away your tech input, would be nice to hear you make a video laying out certain situations you'd deem to risky to wd and instead stick to dd. You're such a kind homie Kevin, keep it up man.
Yeah, lot of shine tech, plus things like acting out shield, short hops, ledgedashes, firestalls, etc. Waveshine, shine grab, shine turn around into other actions, and so on.
Do an advanced movement guide. You have one of the best movements out of any top player even to this day. How you keep track of your dash dance is beyond me
PPMD would have a better answer, no doubt, but I’m pretty positive marth isn’t fully invincible, or it’s at least really hard to be perfect about it for full intangibility. it’s just a really tight punish and marth is so good on the ledge that most people would be scared to challenge it. As for down or back it totally depends on what you’re doing. Back is better for ledge-drop aerials usually and down seems good for Marth when he’s ledge stalling as long as you time your double jump correctly. Marth players also seem to fast fall from ledge and then up-B back as an alternative timing, if that’s more comfortable
Im sorry i have to do this but when someone telled you that you where wave dashing and he was going to report you, you said thats fair. Thats very rude, thats not fair, thats wavedash... hope i was helping

This made me laugh😂
This guide is exactly what I've been looking for for a long time!
Same! Please Kevin, make more of these absolute beginner guides for learning melee fundamentals!
Even before I watch this guide, thank you for making it

You can try taking it step by step by using characters with a long jumpsquat and move up as you succeed doing your shorthops. Good luck !
It's hard if you play Fox, with Falco it's way easier for example, it's all about the number of frame of the jumpsquat@@johnbenson3024
"chillin doesnt get roasted for anything so thats fine" LOOL
Class is in session. Hell yeah. Thanks for this PPMD!
"Chillin doesn't get roasted for anything."
Almost spit my fuckin' water.
What a timing I just started learning melee ^^ thx
I would argue that marth learning dash dance is almost character specific. It's so key to learn, ESPECIALLY as marth
yeah same with falcon probably.
Peach main here! Dash-dance-grab with Peach is SO good. Then Dash-dance-IFC-Back-air is a good "get away" option

A big PP is a good PP

Uncle Punch is really helpful for visualizing wavelanding with Marth for me, his ECB moves quite a bit up and down
Dude I know this is a year ago but thank you so much for this comment I’ve been struggling wavelanding with falco and using the ecb view helps so much
@@Silverado-pq6xe you got this brother.
I 100% agree with pp on this, practicing movement is more important than uncle punch. Also thanks for uploading this on utube, keep up the content.

simple dash dancing movements, wavedashes, maybe something like lasers if you play a spacie.
@@PPMD1 I can't quite wavedash because of the above issue I was commenting, but I can at least try to dash-dance.
I'm excited to see this
what i need ❤️
At about 30:40, to line up a NIL on the ledge, do you press down to fast fall in order to set it up or something else ?
Sakurai must have played a loooooot of kof
Thanks for explaining the stuff 8n plain English. Melee tutorials for like 10 years were just "practice your execution"
PPMD going full 300 BC Greek Philosopher on us
The falco section was really good even for veterans
Yes yes yes very good more of this plz

This is a weird place to ask but what are some Fox specific things to practice like he mentioned for other characters? waveshine?
Yeah, lot of shine tech, plus things like acting out shield, short hops, ledgedashes, firestalls, etc. Waveshine, shine grab, shine turn around into other actions, and so on.
The most practical fox things to learn are jump cancel grab, jump cancel shine, running shine, and all the ledge stuff
Perhaps this has been hasked before but where does your intro jingle come from ?
It's a custom arrangement to go with the animation. 👍

comment for the algorithm for the newbies :)
How do you short hop laser? I’ve had trouble doing it
*short hop double laser
now i can wavecheat and shffl hack like a pro

Can you do a guide on how to beat Leffen and Mango?
Fuck ya, the wavedash

How do I jump??
Is Marth fully invincible when he ledgestalls ?
And is it better to use down or back to drop from the ledge ?
