I had the S6 and now i have the G4. S6 was solid but battery life wasnt great.

koldjet it is, my note 3 was faster than the s6 booting and launching bigger apps. i spent about 40 mins with of these before i swapped for g4

dawud345 I think he does cuz I have had the s6 for 2.5 months and the ram management is HORRIBLE even after 5.1.1 the most ram it ever has available is 800mbs but that is after a fresh boot. It starts to lag when having just like 4 apps open. All I can say is samsung still has not improved there software. The g4 has way more ram and does not lag nearly as much yet it has lower specs.
Seemed honestly very biased to the s6. Missed many features of the G4 like raw files the low light camera. Resizable windows
michael watkins Can't you see the S4 produce way better low light pictures? The screen looks much better on the S4, hands down.

And even if you're obsessed about the S6's "low light picture quality :3333", it still seemed biased towards the S6 in other comparisons.
great review. are the buttons on the g4 lockable at all? would be great for when gaming and not having to worry about hitting them by accident.
Funny how the in depth comparison of these two "phones" yet there's no mention of call quality! But who actually makes phone calls nowadays!? Great review though!

I noticed that as well. Samsung has very bad ram management. Tested it personally, it can't keep in ram more than 3-4 apps, that keeps me away from Samsung, otherwise it's a very fast and pleasant to use.
You say themes are the future and give the win to the GS6 because it has it, but then you failed to even mention the theme store on the LG G4!!! Nothing about knock code but you mention fingerprint scanner. Nothing about smart settings on the G4 at all. It seems like you didn't use the G4 much. That lead to a pretty bias view.

How is the microphone on it? My whole family has LG Optimus Gs with AT&T and the microphones on them were terrible in louder environments, a problem I never had before, say at concert or performances with loud speakers. Did you test this? Has anyone tried recording sound at a concert in a bar or something?

Louise1719 True that. LG indeed has theme options. And has floating icons on the side of the screen. That too was mentioned to be missing on the LG G4.

You can also resize and change trasparency of apps in qslide of g4 though on limited app choice.
a factor should be which one has the correct temperature in weather...
LG G4 opened pretty much every app faster when he was comparing UI performance.

You missed the qslide function that DOES allow resizing apps in windows. Plus, you failed to acknowledge a HUGE attribute of the G4 camera, which is the f/1.8 aperature and raw file format. Also, the front facing camera IS better in the g4. I found it humorous that you have s6 the edge based on, "I can see more things". Picture quality is the factor by which to judge the camera. Also, the g4 has access to LG's very own theme/app market with tons of themes that customize the entire interface, so no edge to s6 there either. I had a couple more critiques, like the g4 loading faster, and your personal preference with regards to removeable storage and battery really being irrelevant in a non-biased review. Fact is, those are attributes the s6 doesn't have. Advantage g4.

Im glad you posted this comment because i was thinking the exact same things, you hit all the points, i feel like he should have done his research before doing a comparison, like you mentioned he missed a lot of points for the G4, which in his "opinion" put it at a disadvantage, and you can clearly see the S6 had to reload the settings app from the multitasking drawer as where the G4 had it preloaded, and that lag on the S6 when he initially went into multitasking..i think he was a bit biased towards the S6
Yes. Possibly secretly a Samsung fanboy. I watched another comparison between g4 and iPhone 6... The dude actually tried to say the iPhone was more powerful... It was a sad state of affairs.

Do you know what kind of touch screens they use? weather it's captive or resistive? I have an issue with cracked screens lately and the s4 I had still works but the lg g2 dies when broken.

They hardly use resistive touchscreens nowadays, and certainly not on flagship devices.
Hey you missed Q-Slide! LG pioneered the flexible window size of app with Q-Slide, you can shrink windows and layered open apps visibility. Also have theme in LG World its an Apps store for LG just to add to your comparison.
Well done my man! I've been struggling in choosing between these two phones and currently use the S6 as my daily driver. I chose it based on performance; theme customization and future proofing. Though I actually can't stand touchwiz, they've done a great job in offering alternatives (even though I use nova as a launcher). Get it right Sammy!!

capacitative buttons are better. they are always there to tap where as on screen buttons sometime need a tap to bring on. e.g. when viewing album photos, on screen buttons are gone. I hate extra tap on screen.

decent review but instead of time spent on dual window and some of the minutia of the skins... give me some sound samples of the speakers loudness (you gave visual quality samples), experience with call quality & signal strength, WiFi, how do the stock apps compare, like email, contact management, etc... still, a good review :-)
What premium feel ? S6 have same shape like S5 S4 S3. What is the difference ? S6 Edge Plus is wonderful device. but i would go 4 G3 or G4
LG does not believe in gimmicks i guess :D still G3 was the 1st device claiming 2K display. Correct me if i m wrong
And you nearly dropped the S6 near the end. G4 with battery access and storage, plus screen size and grip would be my preference. Good review though!

went to the ATT store today and was messing around with the G4 and S6. The G4 is super fast. I own a G3 and was really impressed with the speed. Opening apps is almost instant. The S6 just didn't seem as fast. There is my 20 second review.

the contrast on the s6 is insane,also LCD panels like the one in the g4 introduce too much motion blur.
I have the Z3, waiting for the Z5.

If only the snapdragon 808 had a better gpu. I would have kept my g4. Love the s6 edge but a little small and battery life isn't the best
G4 screen is only good looking at it straight forward LG just can't seem to get viewing angles right they messed up viewing angles on the g2 they mess it up on the g3 and now the g4 the g4 does had a better running was out of the bunch but is still bad

I liked my G4 until it bootlooped. After that I was done. Glad LG got that resolved before the G6.
the G4 is a win. i have it on VZW which make it all the better. one prized fact is it feels amazing in the hand due to the curved design. the battery affords much appreciated usage time.
unfortunately in order to buy my way out of contract i am selling my pristine (not 1 scratch) companion with all its trimmings. blk leather G4 with 3 cases, 1 8gb memory card, 1 spare 3000mah battery (with charging cradle).

pluses and minuses for both phone. It's all in the details. Removable battery is fine I suppose. But being able to add a sd card is a better option. Even though both phones had 32g. I prefer the option of just adding the sd card rather than plugging the usb cable to a computer and file transfer. G4 has better battery life. So really the both is just day or night difference. Again depending on what you truly use your phone for.
Only 3 hours screen on time?! That's horrible
i have both phones and honetly i prefer the g4 as a daily driver, the s6 is always on the charger. the camera is amazing though

Wasn't sure which one I was going to buy but I think I am getting a galaxy s6 now. Lol at the comparison of gaming on the phones though. Mobile first person shooters are a complete joke. Angry birds and minecraft are good on phones but anything more serious than that is a joke compared to console and pc gaming.

The amount of people who buy a phone off contract for $600 is about 2%. Fact.
***** With a 2-year contract through AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc a brand new cell phone is $200. Like the iPhone 6s just came out a couple days ago right? Its $199 with a 2-year contract with AT&T,....so is the Galaxy S6.
+the777 Companies are now switching to full phone costs. You just pay monthly instead of a flat payment up front, OR a flat down payment AND monthly payments. Then if you want to upgrade that's another $10-20 a month added to the plan to let you trade in and upgrade or you have to pay off the full cost. Might as well just buy outright. For instance, the S6 on ATT? $20 a month for 30 months. Or..... $600. Able to trade in after 24 months, or $480 paid. T-Mobile has the best deals and even there's you have to spend $10 a month+pay off half the device to trade in when a new device comes out. Again, might as well buy them outright then sell the devices yourself when you're ready to upgrade. If you have the money.
