An amazing saga, involving a daring (crazy?) man and this top predator is brought up to date as Kenya now fences whole mountains for the benefit of wildlife and the people of Kenya.

I've never reacted to hearing a wild animal crying out that I recall but hearing the eagle's cry when it was caught made me tear up. It really got to me for some reason.

Having just concrete jungle with just people living in it is not a nice life. We still need Nature life 🌱
Most falconers would agree Simon's idea about putting the chick in the wild nest is a bad idea. We did better with peregrine repopulation.

Birds do not need to moved to be raised by wild parents, because birds are the only animals able to full attain their wild state even if born and raised captive, even if it is highly specialized
I get what the scientist was trying to do but i did not like how he hit the captive parents who were only trying to protect their baby.
Why is a black band round her tongue?she can hunt and get her food but with that on her tongue she can not consume it?so she catches her food and brings it to man so she can eat yes??

Magnificent raptors - they remind me so much of harpy eagles. Sadly, much more of their habitat has since been lost to humans and they're now considered near-threatened by the IUCN. Our species is the worst, ugh.
Yes, they are very similar. Like many other animals such as Hornbills and Toucans, and the Cichlid and Arawana fishes for example, which are found in both South America and southern Africa, these similar species hearken back to a time when the continents were joined together. The eagles (just about all species) in southern Africa are threatened due to accidental poisoning and shooting by farmers who perceive the eagles to be a threat to their smaller livestock. Yet isn't it worth it to lose a couple of chickens every now and again, to ensure the ongoing survival of such magnificent creatures? People don't get it. When they destroy just one link in the natural scheme of things, they are ensuring our doom at the same time.

A fossil was found of a human ancestor with puncture marks in its skull. Know what the puncture marks matched. The talons of a crowned eagle. Now scientists have concluded that crowned eagles would have feasted on young human ancestors.

I have never heard of "crowned eagles " nor "royal eagles".!
Nil Carb I hadn't either, though apparently they are incredibly powerful predators. And as far as I can tell, they're one of two only known birds of prey to (we believe) attempt to eat human children. In one case, the skull of a young child was found in a nest, in another case a woman drove off a crowned eagle that was attempting to kill a seven-year-old boy, and in another case a four-year-old girl had gone missing and a child's arm
(believed to be hers) was found high in a tree where crowned Eagles were known to nest.

The white-tailed eagle of Europe, although in the documented case (in Sweden), the child wasn't killed before being carried off by the eagle and was able to escape when it accidentally dropped her in flight to the nest. Lucky child!
