I think it makes sense the physics are so different, it really has to appeal to anyone who plays it and 90 percent of people don't have the patience to learn to surf.

Getting people to understand that you shouldn't be holding W at all is hard enough, so the changes that the Atomic Heart devs made so they could make it work will be understood by the majority of surf players.

As far as the surfing part, one thing i quickly realized is that flicking the camera can get you some insane air, more so than normal surf. As you said the game actively propels you forwards on the ramps so the physics of sliding don't really matter that much, especially since flicking the camera as fast as possible even at base slide speed can make for huge launches.
It's really 50/50. You either will love it or hate it. For me it's a fun thing for an evening and there's some lore for the game which I was the most interested for.

The main issue stems from the fact that its not source but UE, and therefore in order to make a surfing gsme they had to add a different honestly half-baked approach, leading to interesting movement (if i had to guess your speed is multiplied by the sinus of your exit jump). The rest of the dlc was generally good, apart from the finale but when surfing is half of the game you tend to notice when somethings wrong with it.
You can mod bunny hop into the game, surf is not entirely like valve games, to improve your surf expirience to control your height move your mouse UP and DOWN in Y axis (this also allows you to unstick from ramps i believe), its super casual but still fun. Whole DLC is fun but subway surfer part is imo too long, some KZ moments (rotating platforms) can be a bit annoying.
The collectibles are cool if they follow optimal line (In air too). It'd be cool if surf reward you for not only getting from A to B, but also how "perfect" you did it
After some practice I figured out that its pretty much 100% dependant on the mouse button, Not trying to call you out, but I noticed shortly after you said the ramps were "sticky" you then showed yourself flying off the ramps, I assume you figured out the ramps gimick, but didnt correct the claim. Also, unlick source, you cant strafe, which is what you were shown doing quite a lot, probably giving the impression of it being "sticky".

Hey, if you thought the DLC is fun, I'd suggest the base game. Story is subjective, but the gameplay was beyond fun, loved the combat a lot and NG+ was amazing to have (something I wish CP77 would have)
I feel like you are reading a bit too deep into it in the second half. Atomic Heart's main game also has parkour, but there is only one challenge area where it's that extensive. And the boss shockwaves you have to jump over were already done by a different boss in, also in the main game (but there still might have been some inspiration).

All the bunnyhopping and sliding are hangovers from source being based on the quake 1 engine, and the quake communities have long colourful histories of trick jumping and parkour. Was the AH DLC inspired by CSGO? Probably. Was that entire side of the CSGO community original in its ideas? No.

Love the attempt, and it could probably be decent fun, but CS surf is a byproduct of janky physics. Emulating it requires an attention to detail and knowledge that many probably won't bother with. If they wanted it to feel like CS, it would probably fuck up a lot of other gameplay elements, so it's easier to modify the ramps than to mess with the core physics of the engine.
